I heard Jeff Healy, 30 years ago on german TV. i will never forget the performance (still not found it) or his name. Coming back Jeff, highest achievement.
I used to work for a medical company as a delivery driver in the early 90’s and I used to see Jeff on a regular basis. I always said hello to him and he in return. I didn’t want to overwhelm him with what a fan I was off his music. So a casual hello Jeff was good enough. 🎸
WOW. I had never seen this before! The very first thing the struck me was what an impact a great rhythm section can have. I've always wondered if Jeff's very average rhythm section held him back from greater success over those first few albums. This song has never sounded so powerful!
Yes Dave he was with other great guitarists. But his unique playing will be rememberd. Saw him once here in Tilburg. Noorderligt and he blew up the crowd.
I've watched this performance several times, but it gives me goosebumps every time! Not only is Jeff tearing it up, the whole band is phenomenal. I think Jeff was one of the greatest blues guitarists ever because of his technical skill and his incredible phrasing and feel.
Jeff still gives me a storm of emotions like 30 years ago, when i saw him playing "While my guitar gently weeps" in that MTv video. I had never seen or heard anything like that and i never will.
This is hands down one of the most impressive and inspirational musicianship performances you will see. If you happen to be unfamiliar with this band without Jeff Healey sitting in, like I was, they are absolutely world class tight and talented. And at this point in their careers they were at their height. They are they are the cake. Then Healey absolutely crushes it. He is 2 inches of icing on the cake. Easy to say, but forget for a moment the inspirational element of Healey's life story and just listen. They simply just ROCK! Absolutely slay. And Jeff is 20 or 21 at this point??? This video clip is the absolute pinnacle of funk from a makeshift group of 4 guys without a minute's thought of their age, race or physical hurdles.
Such ass kicking musicianship all around. Devastating rhythm section with Miller and Hakim. Beautiful rollicking piano solo by the legendary Dr. John, and then of course the young phenom tearing it up with his unique approach to the fretboard. Definitely the most underrated guitarist of all time and his vocals are also right up there in my opinion. His version of While my guitar gently weeps is the best version of it I've ever heard. Most of us first heard him in the movie Road House and I've been a fan ever since its such a shame that he's no longer here but damn he left us with some incredible music.
What a performance by all involved. Even better considering they undoubtedly had minimal rehearsal time together. The mark of true professionals. They were all feeding off of Jeff's energy, very cool to see. The look on Marcus Miller's face was hilarious. I had a very similar reaction the first time I saw Jeff Healey play. 44 thumbs down?? Seeing a musician being moved like that, whether blind or not, is a thing of rarity and beauty.
if you gave a thumbs down, your probably leagally deaf!, I have hearing aids and this has been one of the purest performances ive enjoyed since i first seen this, on vhs, back in the late 80"s...."cause I didnt have cable at home and a buddy recorded it"...!!!...oh yeah, if thumbs down, your an ass!!!
when I saw him live, he reminded me of Hendrix......I'm an old guitar player, and grew up on Hendrix, and I would never even say that, but.....his spirit soared like an eagle......man it was something to see and hear
It’s just nuckin fits how fast those runs are using his thumb. He was just an amazing player, I think his unusual style was partially because of the way he played… on his lap. Awesome.
I watch this every time it comes up in my feed. His technique was one of a kind, and because of his unorthodox playing style he came up with a certain sound that can’t be duplicated. The solos on this song are just incredible. RIP Jeff Healey, one of the best ever.
A true humble gentleman. Legend for life! Seen you many times at your bar "Roadhouse" (Named after Patrick Swayze) in Toronto. I'll never forget you and your family. Rest easy Buddy. ❤️

SOOOOOO STIIINNNKKKIIINN AWESOME!!!!!!!!! This guy was simply amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
All star band! wow.
Another"underrated" guy. Your justification is?
What a performance by all involved. Even better considering they undoubtedly had minimal rehearsal time together. The mark of true professionals. They were all feeding off of Jeff's energy, very cool to see. The look on Marcus Miller's face was hilarious. I had a very similar reaction the first time I saw Jeff Healey play.
44 thumbs down?? Seeing a musician being moved like that, whether blind or not, is a thing of rarity and beauty.
44 lost souls.
I'd say!!!!! Amazing.
if you gave a thumbs down, your probably leagally deaf!, I have hearing aids and this has been one of the purest performances ive enjoyed since i first seen this, on vhs, back in the late 80"s...."cause I didnt have cable at home and a buddy recorded it"...!!!...oh yeah, if thumbs down, your an ass!!!
Great Band
Yes! Miller is grooving so hard here. 🙌❤️
We lost Jeff WAY to early, man what a talent. We love you Jeff!
Jeff and Stevie have the best guitar vids on TH-cam and the two together are epic...as is Stevie with Jeff Beck..all others bow to the Masters
A absolute inspiration.
Man.. 3:03 was just nasty. I’ve never heard anything even close to that level. He’s got soul and speed. That’s the rarest of all the gifts.
Blistering speed.
Yeah, that's what happens when you are blind and determined to get good. Damn, but what a big sacrificial exchange tho.
when I saw him live, he reminded me of Hendrix......I'm an old guitar player, and grew up on Hendrix, and I would never even say that, but.....his spirit soared like an eagle......man it was something to see and hear
It’s just nuckin fits how fast those runs are using his thumb. He was just an amazing player, I think his unusual style was partially because of the way he played… on his lap. Awesome.
Jeff is my number 1 blues player.ilove to play the blues but I cannot duplicate jeff.he is and always be in the the top 5 of blues greats
I watch this every time it comes up in my feed. His technique was one of a kind, and because of his unorthodox playing style he came up with a certain sound that can’t be duplicated. The solos on this song are just incredible. RIP Jeff Healey, one of the best ever.
The house is burning!
A true humble gentleman. Legend for life! Seen you many times at your bar "Roadhouse" (Named after Patrick Swayze) in Toronto. I'll never forget you and your family. Rest easy Buddy. ❤️
I don't know how I went my whole life without knowing about this dude. He fricken kills!
