Once you start, it gets easier the more you do them. I’m almost 70 and trying these along with all my others for bones, TKR exercises as I’m 5 months in and doing really well apart from not being able to bend the knee backwards very far, so those are really hard for me ATM.
This is so timely. Yesterday the doctor giving my 85-year-old mother her wellness check was concerned about her muscle loss and recommended she try some strength-building exercises. I said "I know where to find some". Sure enough, checked this channel this morning and here was exactly the video we need. Thanks, Will!
I've never in my life been able to do a push-up, not even when I was young and an active rock-climber! But now, at 71, I have been able to get to doing push-ups against the kitchen bench. That works for me, since the kitchen bench has a smooth curved edge which is comfortable to hold, it is available on the spot, and it requires some core activation as well as the glutes and arms. Little by little, I can feel that I am getting stronger from doing all these exercises (and some of the other ones). Thank you for making it easy!
Hi, appreciate your videos. Applying what is necessary for me àt my age of 76. Thanks. Are there exercises and nutrition/supplements for Sciatic nerve problems?
This is fantastic info for my calves. So thanks for another great video! Just a note of caution: Wearing socks to do the heel lifts on a slick plastic surface is a potential slipping hazard for us seniors. Even those of us with normal balance and foot muscle control. Perhaps selecting a footstool with an anti-skid surface would be a better choice.

Something I still remember from a few years ago: a coworker's father died and I went to his mother's home to pay my condolences to the family. They are a very tall family, not just the guy Iwork with, in the 1.80 - 2.00+ range. I don’t think the muscle loss we see in the population today is normal. But our lifestyles have changed so much in the last few generations. We need to stop normalizing what I call premature aging. The body is buildt to be in activity. If we don’t use it, we lose it. Sadly most people don’t know how. So I really appreciate your channel, working against this problem. Some of us are beyound 50, and some of us know someone beyond 50. This is useful information for everyone. I’ve recommended you to others I care about 😊
Thank you so much for doing this as a 73 year old I have been feeling the loss! I remember my friend saying that she struggled getting up of the pot when she was out! Not wanting that happening to me.
Greetings! Thanks for sharing this video. .... Very informative ..... I'm 76yrs. I had Bone density scan earlier this ..... I've got some muscle mass. God continue to bless you richly.

Thank you so much Will, you are a gem to give us this information. I have a damaged right hand so can’t even do wall pushups, so I am going to do swimming breast stroke for 20 minutes three times a week. But definitely doing the other 2 exercises. It is surprising how much strength I find I lose after an accident or illness requiring a few days of rest. So important to keep strength up.
Hi there - I'm sorry to hear about your hand injury, but great to hear you've found an alternate form of exercise which proves beneficial and I'm pleased you'll be able to put the other 2 exercises to good use. And absolutely, it's so important to protect our strength!
@@GaiaNaVi You're welcome! I was injured a few years ago by a car running a stop sign when I was running. This injured my lower back and left hip. I am now rapidly gaining lost muscle and strength, and I started running again! No animal protein. I am past 77!
It's wonderful to hear you're recovering so well! Please consider this information: We've been deceived into believing that is bad for us to consume meat by studies that have been financially backed by companies that benefit from us eating a plant-based diet. Sadly, that is a fact in this day and time. Man has thrived from eating a mainly meat-based diet for millenia. It is highly probable that a more animal-protein way of eating will give you an even further boost. One gentleman in Australia runs marathons while fasted without carbs in his diet. He talks about it in the TH-cam video: 5 marathons in 5 days. Quite interesting. All the best as you continue to heal. 🙏🏻
@joettaqueen-ellenwood7711 Meat is bad! I had cancer, arthritis, and asthma in 1979. Caused by meat and cured by eliminating meat. I am far healthier and stronger without. You are brainwashed by biased studies! Please study healthy old people. Real, people in the real world. Healthy old people eat fruits and vegetables and very little or no animal protein! Now that is fact. There are no long lived or healthy cultures anywhere that are meat based. NONE!
@joettaqueen-ellenwood7711 I have run many marathons, mainly fueled by fat. But carbs are also a necessity! 5 marathons in 5 days without carbs? You been lied to. IMPOSSIBLE!

For the calf stretch you are only holding onto the wall, it does not prevent falling backward. You need a bar or something that will hold you on that wall. Please rethink this for elderly people. They CAN fall backwards easily. Also start your easiest Press up on the stairs.
Very nice and informative demos.. Encouraging. Doing these fairly regularly@ age 75 but after seeing this video, will do the advanced versions at least 3 times a week. ✅✅

What I love these 3 exercises are so simple, you can still do them while travelling. Anyone can start today. Blessings. Linda
Thanks Will this is perfect! Just had my second hip replacement and a spinal decompression op. Having exercised all my life, over the last 6 years, I've lost muscle. I am looking forward to doing these exercises the correct way with uour instruction. For example, sitting on the edge of the chair for sit to stand instead of fully into the chair has made all the difference, having mild arthritis in the knee.
Liked and subscribed. I signed up for the video and will order the book when my budget allows. It's in my cart for safe keeping for now. Going to do these exercises in the morning 🌄
You've reminded me of basics I've used in the past. Those calf stretches were part of my after-run regime (before the hip impingement put paid to running) so I've restarted those and 1/2 pushups. I'll see how the hip copes with the chair exercise. If it hurts, don't do it😅
This is a very good post. Thanks. The Sit to Stand and pointers on slow descent back to sitting is very valuable. Also on the Heels raises, which I have been doing for a few months now, it has helped me get more calf muscles since I used to have 'chicken legsy entire life. Quite ironic that only now as a senior am I getting more full rounder calves and glutes, as I also started during RDLs and Single Leg RDLs.
1. Sit to stand - very slow on the way down
2. Squat with weight close to chest
3. Heel raise on step
4. Press up
Thank you so much. Very helpful.

Thank you for ordering my book, I truly appreciate it, and I hope you find it packed with interesting and valuable content! I hope these exercises prove beneficial for you also ☺
Thank You so much young man, I am going to start this right away, I'm 66 and my muscles seem to be going quick!❤

It's a breath of fresh air to have an English physio. Alwaya American.
I am in pain with bursitis across the shoulders in both and have very clicky clonky joints. I do have arthritis and i believe this is in my shoulders as well. I must get more active, abit more than walking. Your vids are brill and will push myself to do them
Great 👍 I am 63 and noticed muscle mass is drastically reducing. I will try these excercise and hope to improve. Thank you so much for very informative and helpful video.
I just found you and ordered the book I have severe arthritus in back, knee, feet shoulder . I was prescribed pills all my life. I quit them 10 yrs ago and have zero quality of life. lost 50 pounds ZERO help. I am going to follow your suggestions (the doctors are no help) Thank you for all you do!
I've been using my belly weight instead of dumbbells for my workouts!
😂 thats handy then
I have some you can gladly have for your workouts as well 😂
Funny!!!
Thank you so much. I’m over 60 and have for 4 months been going to the gym, I’ve already lost weight and started to put muscle back on …. To say I was a walking wreck is an understatement. Your 3 exercises are a very good addition to the days I can’t get to the gym ! I can’t do a press up yet but I’m in no doubt I’ll have cracked it within a month 😊
Well done on the fantastic effort you've been making, I'm so pleased to hear you're seeing the results. I'm so pleased you've been able to put my exercises to good use too - keep up the great work!

Thank you
I’m 56, and because of cervical spinal stenosis, I’m losing muscle. It’s heartbreaking. Thank you for sharing this ❤
I don’t think the muscle loss we see in the population today is normal.
Thank you! So Much! I have Left Sd Paralysis Since 1999, and This will help me restore my Muscle
restoration! ❤❤❤
Greetings! Thanks for sharing this video. .... Very informative ..... I'm 76yrs. I had Bone density scan earlier this ..... I've got some muscle mass. God continue to bless you richly.
Dear Will, I started looking at your videos during our stay in Germany in May June July. Bought your 2023 book , did not get around to collect the video present. Now back in South Africa, trying to find a way to purhase your new book. Also do not have access to a laptop yet. Would also like to get the Fri videos. My problems: osteoporosis, peripheral neuropathy,80 years old. Combining many of your exercises with what I have learnt from pilates. Very helpful. Would not like to loose contact. Thank you for a wonderful way of getting your mesage across to us over 50's❤
Since Covid I have been feeling fatigued for the past 5 year's, Thank you, after seeing your video, I am feeling motivated enough to make a start at 55 years .Hope to update you with positive results in three months time.
So pleased to hear my video was able to offer a welcome boost of motivation - I'm wishing you all the best in rebuilding your strength and boosting your energy! I also have the following video on increasing energy levels which may be of interest :) th-cam.com/video/YYv8gCGeXdM/w-d-xo.html
I am gaining muscle and strength at age 77 without meat and dairy protein!
This has spurred me on! Thank you ❤

You're welcome!
@joettaqueen-ellenwood7711
Meat is bad!
NONE!
@joettaqueen-ellenwood7711
I have run many marathons, mainly fueled by fat.
But carbs are also a necessity!
5 marathons in 5 days without carbs?
You been lied to.
IMPOSSIBLE!
My PT suggested for me to include halfway stops in my push-ups to make them a bit tougher. Not sure why but I do them that way.
Thank you so much for these exercise tips! Really can see hope for reversing the muscle strength🙏🏼
This is fantastic to hear, hope is a very important motivator!
Such good advice and exercises
I have Neuropathy because of diabetes.. So I struggle with stiff feet and toes and have lost alot of muscle
I try but I find it difficult
I'm 66
😢😢
Thank you
Thanks Will. I always love your muscle building videos. Wondering if this is too out there, but could you film yourself in the gym whilst using the gym equipment? Your muscle building routine is going so well for me and my husband.
Congratulations on your book.
I think making and selling follow along instructional videos would be way more helpful than reading a book. I love books on many subjects, but when it comes to exercising, I like to watch a video and follow along.
Hi there - I've actually been working on a programme which will have videos of this type! If you're interested, you can sign up here to join the waiting list to find out more :) info.ht-physio.co.uk/lifelong-mobility-wait-list
Thank you for the video.
Very happy to share!
Will, you are a treasure! This is the piece Ive been missing! Walking, plus my old lady yoga group 2x weekly for flexibility, and now this will keep me in the game. I’m SO grateful we have you ❣️
Hoorah! I’ve just bought your book, clicked the link for your video, and am looking forward to an improved me. Thanks so much! 😊
Thank you so much for ordering my book, I hope you find it packed with useful and interesting information. It's great to hear you're taking the steps to focus on your health and wellbeing - I'm sure you'll reap the rewards!
Hi, I saw this video so the Title appeals to me as I struggle with long covid...many things very limited for more than three years...I am 54...55 soon and I have lost 10 lbs of mass according to my therapist...my doctor strongly suggested that I go and move in the water which I have been doing since April...but I need more...I will try this plus your video...thank you very much 💯👌
Thank you so much, I'm only 62 I had to leave work last year, I've had rheumatoid arthritis for the past 10 + years so have to be careful what i do to avoid flare-up which leads to steroid injections. I cannot believe the decline in muscle mass since leaving work. I have managed these exercises, the sit to stand, I couldn't walk properly for two days 😂 but it felt good having workout pain again! Your teaching is invaluable and so beneficial to me I've just found my go to and will doing these daily 💪 thanks again. x
Thank you for yet another gem.
Very happy to share!
I'm just starting my journey in regaining muscle tone. Thanks for your videos ....from Canada
Thank you for your good video's, I am in South Africa and am 67 years old
After a few weeks I already feel much stonger and more flexible. So many good exercises. 🎉❤
thanks Will found this very helpful ,I have also just received your new book ,its got so much information in it . Thank you
Congratulations on a million subscribers, hoping you touch another one soon, love all your well explained and illustrated videos with great technique for over fifties, stay blessed and Massive thanks Will.
Thanks for the infos Will! ❤ I have been exercising for many years, but cannot do it on a regular basis. So I am working out whenever possible. I am doing it to look good, fell good, for good health and most especially to honor God through my body. I learned about sarcopenia few months ago, and I have to take it seriously. There are older people who serves an inspiration coz they are still strong in their golden age. God bless you more and more for sharing these! ❤😊
Love from Mumbai...going to include these exercises into my routine now. Thanks Will. 🎉
College, what a clear voice an super shortcut content, my beloved exercise for elder people 🎉
Fantastic demo. I was thinking often how should I strengthen my muscles. I am going to follow your video.
I will do whatever I can to prevent muscle loss. Thank you for this content
Many thanks! Really helpful exercises. I've been able to restore some weak muscles within weeks.
Thank you - this is really helpful. I‘ve recently been diagnosed as having cervical spondylitis / osteoarthritis in the cervical spine … do you have any tips on exercises which could assist in halting progression and also what exercises that could cause damage and should be avoided? I‘ve read that almost everyone over 50 is likely to have some level of osteoarthritis in the cervical spine ..
Thank you!😊🙏🏼
I’m so grateful that this video made its way to my feed! I will start including these exercises daily.🔥👍🏼
This is very useful info. I'd add a pulling motion for the posterior chain, e.g. an inexpensive TRX-type of belt system that hooks on your door.
Of all the PT's I've had/know and the one's on youtuve - you are the best! Very clear on your instructions and very personable. God Bless...🙏🏼 for helping folks! 😊
Great. God Bless You for imparting muscle improvement in seniors. ❤
This video needs to be shared to everyone. Newly subscribed
Thank you so much for these easy to follow exercises. After cancer treatment I do have bone issues and these I think I can do safely
I am trying to improve my lifestyle. My diet is a challenge as well as being able to do low impact work out. These suggestions will absolutely help. Especially with weather challenges. Thank you so much
For the calf stretch you are only holding onto the wall, it does not prevent falling backward. You need a bar or something that will hold you on that wall. Please rethink this for elderly people. They CAN fall backwards easily. Also start your easiest Press up on the stairs.
Very grateful for the easy start ideas. It can be so disappointing to want to improve but it is just too painful. Thank you!
I completely understand - it's all about finding a manageable starting point that allows you to establish a consistent routine!
Another EXCELLENT video, Will. Thank you so much.
Very happy to be of help!
Thank you I am 86 and will give it a try
I do not recommend standing on a stool as a senior. It’s sure to end badly. This young man doesn’t understand senior balance.
Great channel , will...
Please do keep it up...
Greeting from Kem in Malaysia .
Hi... I am 39 , and I'm already losing muscles... I won't wait 50 to start this body exercises
Very nice and informative demos.. Encouraging. Doing these fairly regularly@ age 75 but after seeing this video, will do the advanced versions at least 3 times a week. ✅✅
Have been looking at your clips. Will start them as soon as I can . Have lost muscle mass since my chemotherapy, 2 years now. Thank you.sir.
Congratulations on getting through chemotherapy. I hope you're able to put these exercises to good use to help achieve your strength rebuilding goal, and to support you in this next stage of life! I'm sending best wishes your way :)
Thank you so much. 3 simple muscles. I do yoga, lift weights, do cardio, walk and I’m 77 yrs. old. I think doing these 3 exercises will help me build more upper body strength. What I love these 3 exercises are so simple, you can still do them while travelling. Anyone can start today. Blessings. Linda
Push-ups are a challenge for me, especially the toe ones.😢
O@@mphomariummatloga5373
Fantastic video.
Demonstrated the good intent of the trainer
Great work
Very good video. Thanks so much. Sarcopenia is a problem for some older adults.:
Thanks Will this is perfect! Just had my second hip replacement and a spinal decompression op. Having exercised all my life, over the last 6 years, I've lost muscle. I am looking forward to doing these exercises the correct way with uour instruction. For example, sitting on the edge of the chair for sit to stand instead of fully into the chair has made all the difference, having mild arthritis in the knee.
I hope these exercises help you achieve your muscle rebuilding goal. I'm so pleased these tips have helped you to get the most out of these exercises!
Thank you, free public service. Great video.
It's my pleasure to help!
Thanks Will, I will be trying these exercises. I have always been against knee surgery. 😢
Needed this so badly thank you so much for sharing your precious time 🌻
Liked and subscribed. I signed up for the video and will order the book when my budget allows. It's in my cart for safe keeping for now. Going to do these exercises in the morning 🌄
I am 60....doing weight lifting and playing tennis also,, I reverse my arthritis and heart disease through exercise and food only
You've reminded me of basics I've used in the past. Those calf stretches were part of my after-run regime (before the hip impingement put paid to running) so I've restarted those and 1/2 pushups. I'll see how the hip copes with the chair exercise. If it hurts, don't do it😅
awesome exercises !!! Very helpful !!!
Very happy to help!
Excellent presentation: very good details in the explanation of how to do these exercises, why you should do them, and what not to do. Thank you.
Love your work. Please if you could show the exercises from different angles , thank you. Hello from 🇯🇵
Great guidance from you. Thank you much for sharing with all of us!!
