      The only thing in your comment that describes the type of person I think you're trying to describe, is financing out a 60k car when you can't afford it. Otherwise, living with your parents past 18 - 24 ( or god forgive *parent* ) is honestly one of the best ways to actually get anywhere, you have to save before you can move off and invest in something that will retain and increase in value.
      not sure exactly what type it is that everyone hates here. That being said, Akaki here's hoping you've chilled out over the last year lmao

    Haha. Classic Joe.

    Took me 6 hours to listen to a 2 hour podcast. Because I had so pause to many times just to allow my brain to breath. If not to consider what Guy was saying. Brilliant. I never considered so many of his points. Like for instance, I tend to dismiss most bible stuff as "yeah, going to let you speak, respect you, but basically think: your theory is shit". when he started talking about the prodigal son... wheels inside my brain started turning. like mechanical wheels that have been left to rot for years got back to life... and the entire thing was just beautiful. I never thought of that story from that angle. But as he was telling it... it made perfect sense. Great podcast.

    guys interpretation of the "Parable of the Prodigal Son" was fascinating as fuck. i wish the conversation stayed in philosophy instead of transitioning into jiu jitsu and stem cells, which joe loves to talk about on every podcast...

    • @obw1r3d
      @obw1r3d 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      daveyschneider that was my least favorite part of the show. I really like the guy, but it was the worst interpretation of the story I've heard. Made me wonder if he's read the original story, and if he did, it probably was a really long time ago.

    • @daveyschneider
      @daveyschneider 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      i think he obviously knows the original story didnt have the prodigal of the son snorting cocaine off of hookers tits... He did tell the core of the story of the father accepting his son back after he spends all his inheritance, and killing the fattened calf for him. Then he gave his interpretation. What do you mean?

    • @obw1r3d
      @obw1r3d 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I know he embellished the story (I took no issue with the hooker thing), and I won't nitpick too much overall. However his conclusion that "you are the father, because you don't need anything" (or something to that effect) missed the point terribly.
      The original is meant to illustrate how the father (which symbolizes God) accepts and loves both sons, no matter how much they messed up - each in their own way. It is meant for the reader to identify with one of the two sons, but definitely not with the father. I don't even know how one arrives at that conclusion, and it made me want to stop listening. Like I said, I really like the guy and ended up listening to the whole thing. It was just disappointing to hear his take on it.

    • @tissot233
      @tissot233 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      I don't really understand why you need to push the "real meaning" of the original story? I'm sure he is aware of the old story and its meaning, but that doesn't have anything to do with what he was explaining.
      I found his view of the intelligence (the older son) not being able to understand the journey of the younger son (our needs, feral human), but the father being able to understand just how meaningful that journey and return was to the younger son, even if it might be hard for intelligence (older son) to grasp. I find that explanation much more meaningful and deeper than father can accept any of his sons.

    They were talking about the suits for 20+ minutes. Decent T-shirts are nice too.
    Guy Ritchie seems like a very thoughtful person. This explains why his films are often entertaining.

      A few slip ups though. My favourite being: "why be subserbient?" Something to use on a Serbian friend if they're coming across too obsequious I suppose, but those are very slim odds.

    IMHO, Guy Ritchie's "Revolver" is one of the greatest movies of all time. The depth of the story is incredible and the message or teaching is of great value. I wish I could have an hour long discussion with him about it.
