- Turtle Candies
Pecan halves
11 ounce bag Kraft caramels
2 Tablespoons heavy whipping cream
12 ounce bag semi sweet or dark chocolate chips
Place four pecan halves into an x shape on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Melt caramels and whipping cream in microwave. Microwave one minute then stir. Melt in 30 second increments until the caramel is melted. Place a small spoonful of caramel in the center of the pecan halves.
Allow these to cool on counter or in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour or until the caramel is firm.
Melt chocolate chips in the microwave the same way you did the caramel. Cover the caramel with the chocolate then place the candy back into the refrigerator so it cools and the chocolate hardens.
Store in an airtight container.
Yields : 24 turtles

I'm loving the 12 days of candy 🙂🦋
An old man that worked at a local bakery in Mobile, Alabama gave my husband this recipe, it’s been probably been almost 45 years ago. He folded his pecans in with the caramels, I do the same.
I dip the whole thing in chocolate.
I use milk chocolate as the coating.
Sometimes, I use chopped pecans and stir them into the melted caramels.
I tried making them years ago by making my own caramel. For some reason it always crystalizes.
You are on a good start. Thanks for the recipes. God Bless
How do you store these? 🎄
Hello, my name is Cindy and I am a sugarholic. The twelve days of Christmas has tested my strength in a sweet way. Thank you for this recipe.
This is my husband’s favorite treat. He would eat as many as I could make. Candy is getting so expensive. Especially chocolate but I still have to make Christmas treats. Thanks Tom and Melissa 🍫🍫🍮
You are very calming to watch. It’s wonderful that you and your wife have fun together. Thank you for your channel. Happy holiday, Merry Christmas 🎄 Be safe.
This series is a GREAT idea!
I'm 66 years young, and I've never made "Turtles". This is a great way to do them. I can't tell y'all how much I enjoy your channel. Tom, you have taught me much easier ways to make things I've been making for years. Your Butterscotch Oatmeal is awesome! I make that about twice a week for my husband and myself. And I have tried several more of your recipes... they're always great! Thank you again so very much❤️
Thank you Melissa! I love having a written recipe!!
🎄🎄🎄Good afternoon from Bon Secour , Alabama… Roll Tide 🏈
Loving your 12 days of treats !!!!! ❤
I love, love, love this channel. So glad it came across my recommendations. ❤
I loved your peanut butter snowballs! I’m sure I will love these too… my family and friends thank you. 10 days to go!!🎉
My daughter is a great lover of these. But she loves cashews. They are made the same way. You should try them sometime. They are delicious. Thank you for the video.😊
I also love them with cashews. And dark chocolate.
Ester Price has them with cashews and dark chocolate, delicious, but expensive.!
Thank you so much for thinking of the firemen. My Dad was a fireman for 30 years. They do love receiving treats.
Get yourself a cookie scoop. The little lever helps so much when using liquid caramel. Pops it out just dandy. ✝️❤️
@charlainemarkesen4708 they have a cookie scoop. He used it yesterday for the first day of this 12 days of Christmas series.
Thank you for sharing & demonstrating such easy treats (& meals) ❤
Love your 12 days series! Can’t wait for tomorrow! Thank you for sharing with us!🎄
Turtles is one of my favorite candies! I will definitely be using your recipe ... YUMM!!!
One of my favorite candies! Looks great and easy.
You made it look so easy. I think I would like to add some chopped pecans and a bit of kosher salt.
'His eyes--how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!' Have you ever considered playing Santa? You would be perfect!
That's got to be the easiest to make Turtle Candy . Thanks for sharing with us Tom and Melissa , stay safe and keep up the great recipes. Fred.
Tom and Melissa, it is always a treat to come sit at your table because I know I am guaranteed something delicious! Loving the 12 Days of Christmas. Blessings!
Hi Richard And Suzie Here We Love Your Channel Mom Told Me They Look Straight Outta A Candy Shop God Bless You And Your Family ❤
Thank you for sharing! Have a beautiful special Christmas with your family! God bless you and yours.
Thank you so very much. Your demeanor while instructing is awesome. You know what I've never been able to make candy. Only peanut utter pinwheels. To make every one of your 12 days of Christmas treats. This way you and your wonderful wife will have helped me over this challenge in my life. I'll be able to give homemade delicious Christmas gifts. I had a dear sister-in-law that passed that would make my husband a wonderful tin full of mixed candies. She was so good at it. Miss her too. Oh well she'd be glad to know that you are part of my World now. Great job on everything you do. MERRY 🎄 CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.❤🙋🌞🎁
45 years ago, the caramel bag was probably a full pound. I remember the first time I bought sugar that was 4 pounds instead of 5 pounds. Totally threw me and afterward, it seemed like most products followed suit. I love pecan turtles and these look delicious! Thank you for sharing!
When I was growing up in north Ogden Utah , we had a nice older couple that would bring these to our house every year at Christmas time. My favorite treat. I sure enjoy watching your videos
Hi Tom and Melissa! My sister used to make a version with a mini pretezel on the bottom, then a piece of mini rolo followed by the pecan. Thank you for sharing this recipe with us. Looking forward to making your various 12-days of treats 😋😋🥰🥰

Easier yet ... "ROLO PRETZEL TURTLES"
Only 3 ingredients ...
• small pretzels
• Rolo candy (unwrapped)
• half pecans (can roast first)
1. Preheat oven 200°
2. Arrange small pretzels / small square pretzels on a lined cookie sheet.
3. Top each pretzel with a Rolo candy.
4. Bake 3-5 minutes until Rolo starts to soften (🚫 melt chocolate completely).
5. Remove from oven ... top each with a pecan half - gently press down.
6. Cool ... store in an air tight container.
This treat is so easy to make ... anyone can do it ... and you can make so many in a very short time.
HA HA.. I guess I will be making these after my daughter gets her braces off!
Wow! Nothing fattening about these. ❤❤❤

There are so many ways to make these! I put a caramel on each turtle and put in oven to soften, then I push down on the caramel then dip the turtle in dark chocolate that has a little paraffin wax! I’m 60+ years and my mom did this recipe !

So I paused your video and went to the kitchen! Yep, Nothing was cooking in my kitchen, darn it! But now, after explaining this funny to you, IM STILL HUNGRY! 🤣 So I’ll get back to watching your Turtles to the end of the video and then I’ll go scrounge! Mashallah wonderful racipe sharing my brother 😊 i like this stay connected ❤❤
It’s looking good 👍 awesome job done delicious turtles candy. I love dark chocolate.😊
The amount of cream you use, will determine the consistency of the caramel and how hard or soft your candy is.
In my opinion, Tom has the right balance!
Love this ❤ thanks
I made these tonight and it was very easy as you said. I normally make my own caramel, but decided to go easy this year!! I did have to warm the caramel a couple of times, but I made more Turtles as well. I bought two bags and counted them and had 39 caramels per bag!! So they’ve gone down one less caramel now!! Thanks for sharing your recipe!!
I’m looking forward to making these two candies for the holidays. Thanks so much. I just love your videos. Merry Christmas. Can’t wait till the next one!!!🤟🏼❤️🤟🏼

Nothing better than turtles 😊
Hi. Love watching your videos. I hope you don't mind me sharing, but here is a recipe , similar to this, that I thought you might like. Place a pretzel 🥨 on baking sheet.
Place a pecan on top.
On top of that, place one riesens candy
Place in oven set at 325° for about 3 minute, or until caramel riesens has melted.
Take out and let cool for about 30 mins. Final step, dip them in almond bark (milk chocolate) and crush some pecans to place on top. Let them set up for about 30 mins. And enjoy.
You guys are great!
