Hi Henry, weirdly on these engines the head fasteners are not done up in the usual outwards spiral, instead the nuts on the studs are tightened first from the middle out to pull the head back and down. Then the front head bolts are tightened, again from the middle out to clamp the head fully. Same on the Stag and dolomites.
Interesting Ian because that isn't what my Haynes manual showed. It had the bottom center bolt first then the top center stud then I can't remember. I'll check again and compare to my online BL manual
@@HenrysGarage The sequence and torque values were revised by BL to all the nuts first to 20ft/lb then all the bolts, next all the nuts to 40ft/lbs then the bolts and finally all the nuts to 55ft/lbs and then the bolts. ( Haynes says final torque 50ft/lbs which BL revised to 55ft/lbs) Please check out the TR7 and TR Drivers forums. The improved clamping via this method minimises head gasket failure. 👍
Excellent thanks
You are welcome
Great video! Thx!
Thanks
Sounds like you've got Flipper working on the engine with you!
I like those chimes in the background when I’m working. I guess it might be distracting on the videos
@@HenrysGarage I was thinking of the sound effects when speed up the video.

Thanks Ian, I'll follow this
Have bought yourself a new door bell?
I’m not that popular. A windy day for the chimes outside the garage
