Naw man, my starter just went out on my 2014 Fusion and this helped alot. I completely agree it's like they didn't want anyone to fix anything on these dumb ass cars. Sighhh lol
This charge tube is only on turbo cars. I did my 16 Focus SE 2.0 L starter and looks about the same I hope. Yeah it was a bit of a pain alright. Try it soon to replace it. No crank on my 16 Fusion SE 2.5 L and it just makes a not too loud humming sound. Sounds like bendix getting stuck right ?
Make sure you have a solid 12+ Volts at the hot cable where it connects to the starter. You can also test the switching at the solenoid if you have a helper to push the button or turn the key (if that's how it starts) to crank. That should also be 12+ Volts while cranking. If you can access the starter while someone tries to crank it, tap on it. Sometimes that will get you a few more starts and is a definite indicator that the starter itself is faulty. Find the starter relay in the power distribution box under the hood and swap it with one just like it from the box. This could indicate a faulty relay.
A loud humming suggests the starter is somehow stuck. That could be anything causing the armature to bind from rust and moisture to excessive heat and melted parts. The bendix works like a one way clutch.
I didn’t do the putting back on the bottom cover. And thought no big deal I’ll put it later or not at all. I didn’t know that bolts on the soft belly cover also is holding the steel belly plate. A loud noise gave me clue. 😂
No. The 2.5 is a different architecture and naturally aspirated. If I remember correctly you can take a few things off and get the starter out through the top on a 2.5.
Ferd confusion 😂😂😂 But I’m with you on these cars where just not made with the mechanics in mind at all!! Thanks for the info
@@elyroman6377 they really aren't that bad to work on compared to say a Nissan or VW. It just helps to know some tricks.
The last 20 seconds is all I needed. Nope! Lol. Thanks!

Is this 2.0 or 1.6l?
Thank goodness
is 2013 2.0 ecoboost the same?
Yes. These go from 2013 to 2016.
Should be the same on a 2013 2.5?

Starter took me 20 minutes to replace😂 on my 2.5
Which way did you get to it?
