    An excellent follow-up to the first video - as others have mentioned this friendly, easy going manner explains the process in moving to the island with great clarity. Would suggest a regular series of these "chats" - they are really good viewing !

    My son, here in NZ, worked in Computers world wide. He had an agent - one time his agent said he would be paid thru an off shore island - a little place he wouldn't have heard of - then he said Guernsey. My son fell about laughing - that's where he had been born!! When we decided to come to NZ, my Guernsey friends thought we would be living in grass huts and wear hula skirts. People world wide have some weird ideas off places they are not familiar with. Great info there Ross.

    I honestly thought people from the UK could live and work in Guernsey without restrictions.

    And best of all, the 1600 homes we have for sale available to those moving to the island cost as little as one million pounds, plus the soul of your first born...

    This video didnt explain very well the topic of UK citizens working or living in Guernsey. From my quick research UK citizens can live in and work Guernsey without permits. The complication comes in Where exactly you live and work in Guernsey

    Hi there! I really enjoy watching your videos/reviews of Guernsey! I have a question. What if I want to move to the island to retire (not employment), as I have a private income. would that make it slightly easier than coming to take up employment? Many thanks..John (Nickson)

    Hi Ross. One thing you didn't cover is that 'outsiders' are restricted in purchasing property, most of which is for sale to Guernsey residents only, with very few properties being available on the open market for non-residents to purchase. (I couldn't afford to buy anyway, LOL!). Thanks

      Well I think it just something that Guernsey people have got used to. There are many different nationalities live here now so I don’t even notice it anymore

    so you say there is no VAT tax, does that mean there is no additional tax on the items you buy retail in stores? like food, alcohol, toiletries, household goods? is there a carbon tax on your petrol? how much import duties and fees? do you get good fast service from Amazon? how does the country fund it's upkeep if it doesn't tax income? it only taxes local income wages and profits from local business? so if you're in the business of Export, would you be paying tax because you manufactured the item inside the country?

    • @Guernsey576
      @Guernsey576 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does tax income 20%

    I personally believe that if your an 'Outsider' and you want to move to Guernsey and purchase property that some kind of Levy should be applied. Say a small percentage of the price, held in a fund by the government to assist locals who find it hard to purchase property say for example for a deposit etc. just a thought, I know there is seperate local/open markets but I'm sure outsiders still push up property prices regardless. Same should go for Jersey, Isle of Man etc although at present I don't think the Isle of Man have seperate local/open markets. What would be your thoughts on this?
