Left Guernsey 56 years ago, now in NZ - we've been back 4 times. Last time we caught up with friends who had the use of their daughter's yacht so we sailed across to Herm had a drink at the Mermaid and sailed back again. Good memories. Loving all your videos.
I LOVE HERM... next time you need to continue to the other side and visit Shell Beal and Belvoir Bay - both of which have kiosks - and a block of toilets set up between the two beaches on a cliff walk. Shell Beach look far more tropical than the harbour side.. :-) We recently did a kayaking tour of 2hrs around Herm and saw Dolphins in the distance following a boat! What's not to like !!
Wow - yes, great vid! One of my favourite places on the whole of planet earth (at least of all places Ive been). But must agree with Carolyn: without North Beach, Shell Beach and Belvoir Bay its only half of Herm. Pls next time the north end and the other side too - as a local you know anyway 😉
Changed a bit since we went over there in the 80's. Boat is bigger. We walked round to shell beach and went in to a pub. Funny I found a T'shirt I brought there. Don't go anywhere near now, :P
Loved the trip to herm Ross, my goodness a huge improvement on the ferry , in the 50s the ferry was little open boat full of people it’s a wonder there wasn’t any accidents, the skippers name was Bonnie something can’t remember his last name 😮
I was at Herm a few weeks ago for a day trip from Guernsey exactly as shown. If you walk from the ticket office to the boat there is a nice café on the right hand side where you can get a cup of tea before boarding. Glorious weather and the beaches are very clean, enjoyed the walking and later getting something to eat. Great video, brought back good memories. Cheers Leslie
Love Herm ❤ I worked in the mermaid tavern 1981 for a season , had the best time . Shell beach and Guernsey on my day off. Boozy cruises round the island , beach parties.. wonderful memories.. highly recommend to young people looking to work away … must make a visit soon ❤
Great to see beautiful Herm again. I was hoping to see Belvoir Bay... One of my favorite beaches ever. Probably not so easy to get to with a little one and a buggy 😃. Maybe next time. Thanks Ross. Love watching your videos. So many happy memories of the Bailiwick.
Love Herm. Always get sucked in by the prettiness of shell beach which then hurts your bare feet. Ouch. Loved walking the coastal path and the chapel in the middle of the island is beautiful and cool when it's a very hot day. Love Herm...but not as much as Guernsey 😉❣
A country of beauty of its beautiful nature by its visitors all along the coasts by its leisure events its formidably arranged villages its fishing posts its extraordinairy gastronomy.
That was an excellent video and I really enjoyed the boat you sailed on an what a lovely colour the sea is and Herm looks so beautiful it looks like you could be in the med.
As beautiful as I remember it. There are a few shops near to the harbour not sure if they still open but remember they closed for lunch pre covid when I was last there. Also lots of lovely beaches, I got as far as Shell beach and sat looking out to sea...absolute bliss and it was early October too! Didn't quite manage to get all round, my legs wouldn't let me but I'm sure others could easily manage it, I would love to return one day. Good information on price of trip, where to purchase tickets and sailing/ return times for visitors, always helpful to know
Shell Beach is the beach to visit. Sand is composed of microscopic shells washed ashore by the gulf stream, hence the gorgeous sand. Herm has its own micro-climate, "Herm Burn" is common so slap the sunscreen on. And the dolphins of course. The ferry will stop, the dolphins swim toward the ferry, and then they follow the ferry having fun in the wake. Jethou is owned by the states but rented to a billionaire so I recall.
Hello Ross, same here in my own country Indonesia, I'am living in East Java, on an Java Island, if we want to relaxing, we can go to neighbour Madura Island or Bali Island.

Awsome video Ross!
even though it might be not the best time to visit herm in the winter i think it would be really interesting
Yes I’m sure it would be very interesting 😊
On the to do list great video
I can recommend, Herm is a beautiful place. In fact all the channel islands I visited I would recommend, each holds it's unique beauty and charm.
Yes definitely worth a visit.
Does look really pretty.
Hi Ross, Been to Herm many times and the beach I liked was Shell Beach loved the walks.
Hi paul, I love shell beach as well.
Hello Ross, same here in my own country Indonesia, I'am living in East Java, on an Java Island, if we want to relaxing, we can go to neighbour Madura Island or Bali Island.
That sounds amazing Herry☀️👍
It’s now £16 to get there and back😂
Really? Wow
Remember when it was £3.50 return. There also use to be two companies that ran day trips. Is that still the same?
Would have been nicer without the Chewing GUM.
Dislike this boat much prefer the one with the long benches
I think its number V
Yes I know which one you mean👍
