    I've done 8 hour rides, gravel rides and track days on zzr and it handles it absolutely fine. Gonna get it mapped this summer.

    Hello,
    I have a 2012 ZX14R down in Western Australia.
    I also had the same wrist pain issue after only 45 minutes on the bike. So I installed a naked bike style street bar conversion kit from a business in the UK. what a difference. Amazing. The bike is a little more wheelie prone in first gear. But only if you really open her right up. So not a problem when ridden normally/sensibly. . . . .
    Cheers for all you videos 👍🏍
    They're awesome.

    Another great video - I made changes because I am old (55) ... Bar risers, more comfortable seat and double bubble screen (because I sit up higher with the bar risers).

    Great vlog and for the most part, I agree with you. Sport tourer? I know people try and dub it as such but this along with the hayabusa are "Hypersports" .They are designed to do one thing really well..Go fast and quick! It just happens to do other things surprisingly well. Now if your looking for a sport tourer as a 14.. thats where the Concours comes into play.. last time i checked I dont have any cup holders/seat warmers/gps/ etc. on my 14r. The other thing i would say is its actually one of the most comfortable bikes i have ridden in terms of a sport bike. Its rock solid in wind, I have my suspsension setup to be make the bike agile so i know im raked forward more than what your experiencing and its still comfortable. I would invest in some tank grips if you dont have them to take the load off your upper body. Lastly nothing wrong investing in performance upgrades. Mine is pushing somewhere north of 215 hp to the wheel and is fully uncorked. Bike rides the way it was meant too before all the government regulations etc. I do agree I wouldnt turbo either. You have a modern marvel of a motorcycle my friend. 😎👌🏾

    Bro a bit late to the party but…..
    I bought my 2008 SE off Facebook marketplace. Drove from Pennsylvania to the far side of Massachusetts to buy her and rode her home.
    6 and a half hours was more than enough time in the saddle…
    Since then I’ve gotten used to her…bar risers, rearsets….
    12 hours is attainable.

    Thankfully here in Canada I feel we are kind of like in the wild wild west. So my bike when I bought it already had Yosh pipes with cat deletes. And yes nobody checks this at all so insuring/plating it was no troubles. There isn't any government body checking these things here. Yea!! So that was done already along with 2nd butterflies removed and pare valve done. Does make getting at those spark plugs a alot easier. Have the power commander and autotune installed along with speedo healer. Since the back tire is a a 190/55 instead of the 50. Also the back sprocket has been changed so I don't have as high speed... no place in Canada can you do 300km/h afterall! Bar risers where installed for those longer distances. Been on it for 6 hours with breaks and that is about my limit. Just installed some carbon fiber parts. Maybe I should make a channel to show the beast off.

    I disagree..
    I've done 9 hours of riding over 5 days on my zzr1400 and it was fine... A bit of wrist ache yes, but after I got some bar risers fitted it's been amazing. It's a great bike for long distance.

    Add the bar risers and your wrist will thank you! It brings them up 1 inch and makes a huge difference. My 2022 ZX14r has the Moore Mafia ECU Flash and this bike has all the power you need. Throw in a BMC air Filter and you are set.

    I have a 2020 zzr1400 none sport version ..
    5 things that I would/have defo changed on the bike.
    1, CHANGE THOSE CAMS.
    2, Lower the footpegs.
    3, Raise the handle bars.
    4, Sliders.
    5, Centre Stand.

    Hey Mate, in theory you should not be leaninng on the handlebars when riding. Being a sportsbike and sports-touring bike rider myself, I was also leaning on my wrists at the beginning. Then more experienced riders adviced me to keep my lower back tight and elbows loose. It improved the bike´s handling massively and the wrist pain was gone for good.

    • @psycotria
      @psycotria 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Going 100+ will also help take the weight off the wrists. At least it did for me on my GPz1100 back in the day.

  • @233kosta
    @233kosta ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Where I sit on mods is "nothing permanent". So far I've got some crash bars and hand deflectors. Considering a radial master cylinder, but... maybe I don't need that.
    For touring I probably would want a comfort seat, but again - it's bolt-on and bolts right off.

    I am a 60 year old dwarf with a 29 inch inseam and I try to limit my rides to around 200 miles a day. When I was younger I could easily ride all day on about any bike. But now with arthritis, back and neck issues, artificial joints I really get uncomfortable after about 200 miles and usually takes a day or two to recover. I own several motorcycles, but I must say my 2012 ZX14R is on of my favorites.

    Hey. Im wondering for longer jaunts if you added 1"or 2.54cm bar risers and lowered the footpegs by an 1" or 2.54cm if that would help with the cramped position.

    I have an 09 Concours 14 (which is a zx 14 thats been mapped differently) and I have done a few performance mod`s to it that I am completely happy that I did them. I removed the Throttle Body Butterflies, installed a full Area P Exhaust, K&N Air Filter, Power Commander 5 and It has been tuned, and I put a Manual Cam Chain Tensioner & I have a Cee Baileys smoked windshield. I now have 107,000 miles on it and I have been all over the USA on this bike, I Love it. I do not pop wheelies or do burn outs, I personally think that tears them up. Lol, I will hammer her all the way to the Red Line and whoa, thats all I need.

    I once went to Ireland with a friend, he was on a gxsr I was on my Z1000 daf naked. I'm an older person and boy my backside hurt on the standard seat, the only break apart from quick stops was on the ferry from Wales to Southern Ireland, we went to the Cookstown 100 Road race… it was in the month of June if I remember correctly, and we had some very changeable weather including halestones through Oxfordshire. And from Leaving Bedfordshire to Cookstown 22 hours later numb is not the word 😂.

  • @kellygrant4964

    A few others... Lowering and extending the swingarm. Only time these should be looked at is if you are building a drag bike. Other than that NO WAY! Taking off your clipons and putting those absolutely stupid bars on it. Holly crap it is the dumbest thing to do! Those are a few things quickly off the top of my head.

      The ceramic grease may be three times the price, but it works better and can be used for anti-seize where you put stainless bolts into ally, copper's not so good for that.

    Im on my 5th zzr14 and i find it hard not to wheelie, I've had so many different bikes in my time 59y and this one's got to be one off the easiest bikes to wheelie, also on long journeys if you cruise at high speeds you eliminate rist fatigue, you have to apply your balls to do wheelies and get over the mental block 🚫 but i did learn to master wheelies on my motocross bikes when i was a teenager. The zzr is very capable on track, and its not to bad off road , I'll stop their as you'll think im having a laugh 😃

    1) not sure how not to wheelie if one sets it up full power mode and even on TC1 even 2nd gear without touching the the clutch it does it beautifully.. never blown a fork seal 2) been from London to Germany twice, from Berlin to Luxembourg in about 5 hours? Stock seat, stock ECU ,1/2" bar riser. Been on track, Lydden Hill, Nurburgring Nordschleife... I'm 230 lbs.. I'm not even making videos for TH-cam... can't find more excuse for not riding that bike properly.

    What did I just watch? A ZX14 and Hayabusa are notorious for floating the front wheel constantly. I has my forks rebuilt under warranty at 8,000 miles. The current 2023 ZX14 runs so goddam hot, the mufflers burn anyone unfortunate to get close to it. The 4 -2-1 rule racing exhaust with carbon fiber exhaust not only applies a tune so the bike runs cooler. I just did a 200 mile ride yesterday on my ZX14. My 109 was horrible in a long ride. The wind abuse. Just a video I find common sense would suit each individual just as preference.

  • @llerradish
    @llerradish 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I say when it comes to how long you can ride that's totally up to the individual everybody's different. I know guys much younger than me that can't ride as long as I can and I know guys older than me that can ride longer than I can.

      It's called "making progress" and you'll find it's an accepted practice described in "Motorcycle Roadcraft", the Police riders' manual... The Institute of Advanced Motorists training covers it as well, executed with due caution.

    Hate it when people who clearly have bought the wrong bike put the hideous dredded ugly obscene bar risers on. They want banning how to disfigure the looks of a bike in one easy lesson. When you see 14's for sale advert says fitted with bar risers as if it's a good thing. If you don't like the original correct bar set up which kawasaki have spent alot of time developing the best riding position well go & buy a different bike & stop ruining these machines.

    It's a pity that any1 who owns a zzr doesn't pay 4 opinions ? Destroy the bike???? Nah its just about impossible and if you suggest you can't ride the bike bcos of wrist pain or as such you haven't ridden it as you say never done a long journey ? I'm 70 now I've never ridden a bike as com4table long or short journeys ? You're wrecking the bike by stating you find it impossible 2 enjoy ?? Why do you ride whats genuinely the world's favourite sports tourer ? Do not understand ya a women finds something 2 criticise it? 1 effen pebble ? Take the bike back marra you don't deserve 2 be on it ?
