Honda ST1300 I had was comfortable ride, but it did not thrill me for take-off power! I bought the 2017 Concours14, and it has the power, but the comfort is not as good as the Honda ST1300. I never rode an FJR which costs more and it maybe your best option now that the Concours 14 is no longer in production.
@@hardcor1313 Among the 3, I choose the Honda for the comfort and lower cost. I wanted the Concourse to be “the one” but when I sat on a few, they just weren’t as comfortable as what I wanted. Great bike though!
I ride a ninja 1000sx and was down in Austin for F1 this weekend on my motorcycle. It rides great but I have been looking at the concours 14 or FJR for a while. They are heavier and most stable on highways in my opinion. Maneuvering them lane to lane would be difficult but I might buy the concours soon. Thanks for the review
I have a Versys 1k, but even after putting on a lowering kit, it's really tall for me. I wonder if a Concours would be better? Or if as a super short dude I'm forever stuck in lower end bikes?
Thank you for the review! I found a used 86 Concours back in 1989 for $2,500 and used it as my daily commuter in Southern California. What I was really looking for was a K100RS or ST1100, but they were too pricey. It looks like I got the better bike anyway. It was powerful and fun to ride, especially around the Santa Monica Mountains and up the coast to Santa Barbara. I rode it to work on the 101 and 405 freeways (splitting lanes of course) and loved the fairing protection so I could wear my leather bomber jacket and Levi Dockers pants, and I carried my work satchel in the saddlebag. Multi-day traveling was out of the question because of my young family, work and grad school. A buddy of mine owned a custom paint shop, so he painted all the plastic parts with an awesome purple with custom graphics. Only trouble I had was rust in the gas tank. The ergos were not great for my 6’5” self and I remember lots of hand cramping and numbing on longer rides. I had it for 3 years, then decided to sell it and baled on motorcycles for 20 years while I raised kids and took on other hobbies and sports. Got back into bikes in 2012 when I moved to Utah with a used ST1300, and I was disappointed finding it want as good as that Concours. I now own a K1600GTL (selling it) and a Goldwing DCT tour. I rambled on here as a total stranger! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane.
@@scorpion-ninja8228 Wow you got the last year made👏 . I've got the '11 I got brand new 0 miles also back in '12 now only have 15k mi on it.. Bone stock silver with silver rims...
The 2015 update was more significant than a windscreen redesign. Also, the C14 was discontinued in North America two years ago. Lastly, the C14 never had cruise control.
Never had a Super Tenere 1200 but my Yamaha mechanic said to me: don't buy it because you'll never ride your fine FJR again.... So probably the ST 1200 is the best all-rounderr 😋
As an owner of a Zx-14 and a Concours 14... Just sold recently. I can say the Concours is pretty much the perfect touring bike as far as a mixture of comfort/sport. Im 36 and my wife and i enjoyed it. However. It was so smooth that I found it boring after sometime 😂. Still rocking the ZX. I figure if i get to old for it, ill probably give up riding.
The h2 only makes 160hp over there? I testrode the 1000sx and the h2 (200hp standard in Europe) earlier this year and i gotta say: its the 1000sx for me. Getting mine next year and cant wait
Will keep my zx14. Can get hard luggage if I really want to. After a max of 6 hours on a bike is enough for me anyways. Not out there trying to monster mileage in a year. It isn't the miles its the smiles and the big zx14 will split your head in two with the smiles it gives you.
@@ride1400fast If I ever go with something more "touring" it will be a concours. But I will never be without my zx14. It is such so amazing and really one of those motorbikes that will surprise anybody.
1. @ 7:36 the bike you are calling a Concours is in fact a ZX14R. 2. The Concours never came with a cruise control. It was always the one major complaint of owmers. 3. The Connie as they are affectionately know. Is a mile cruncher like a Gold Wing with out the weight and as such handles like a sport bike. I've owned the Hayabusa, and a Concours would run circles around it at the track,(not the drag strip), which I'd say my ZX14R was the king of. But throwing saddle bags on the 14R and riding her hard in the canyons or at the track proved to be difficult and down right abusive on your body. The Concours is much more attuned to hard core canyon riding especially 2up.
RokForm has a new offset mount for bicycles, and I am wondering if it will work on motorcycle bars. If it does, it would allow more room for mounting devices to the bars.
Don't even consider buying a BMW haven't you heard about the problem's associated with those K16 bike's plus the price of service's they are nothing but a money pit they use oil replacement of gearboxes just check some of the reviews the Honda Goldwing is simply the best bike as far as very large touring bikes if you can afford it you will be sorry if you buy a beemer k1600
Won't compare a multistrada because it's in a different class but goes to compare the c14 to a k1600. The r1250rt is the competing bike from bmw that is in the c14 class of bikes. 🤷♂️
I had a first gen Concours, 2001 model. It was the first bike I ever dropped. Right in my own driveway. Super top-heavy, with the turning radius of a school bus. But, Kawi got the horsepower/gear ratios just right. Overtaking, you didn’t gear down, you simply rolled on the throttle. I just couldn’t stand the engine’s harmonic vibrations; after a 12 hour trip, I couldn’t feel my wrists or my balls for a month. But to this day, I’d love to own a new gen 1400 Concours. Edit: I believe the cost of ownership, in terms of service and maintenance, would be much more reasonable with the Kawasaki than if you bought a Ducati, Triumph or KTM, especially if the maintenance requires the services of the dealership.
I had a 2014, hit the governor at 155ish and it completely cut off power threw me forward and I bout wrecked, second scariest thing I’ve ever done one a motorcycle.
I missed the FJR 1300 I had but had to give up due to my divorce. I just picked up my 2008 Kawasaki Concours this last Friday and so far I really like it.
The Ninja 1000SX is not a modified version of the ZX10R superbike. That engine is from the 90s and is a bored out ZX9R. (And apparently that engine was a mix of the ZZR1100 and ZX7R.) It's been around forever...
Same here. I had a BMW K1200RS and BMW K1200R Sport and now I have a Goldwing. She rides on the Softail Heritage Springer or the CVO Road King with the 103 cu in... She will not ride on anything but a Harley... Smart wife.

Great vid but let me put in a plug for the BMW R1250RS... It's like they put a race bike and a lazy boy in a blender... it goes from Zero to Sixty in "Take your Breath Away" and Sixty to Zero in "Stop on a Dime." 😊
Sold my high maintenance 1990 Concours 1000, got a 1986 GoldWing 1200 Aspencade, and enjoyed a better motorcycle. Cooler in the cockpit, better balance, lower center of gravity, higher reliability, higher build quality, better engine design.
Nope! You couldn't pay me to ride that. However, I'd take that over the Honda Winnebago (Goldwing). It really blows my mind when I see guys at the track on em 😂

Thanks for the review
there flickable more think put 55 tire rear set suspension handles like sport bike
2022 was the final production year kawi made the C14 in the USA! I have a 2022 I bought few months ago 0 miles. Love this bike!!!
The dealer still had a 0 mileage '22 in stock when it's '24 next week??
@@seatime674 correct, but I bought my 2022 C14 back over mid-summer 2023!
@@scorpion-ninja8228 Wow you got the last year made👏 . I've got the '11 I got brand new 0 miles also back in '12 now only have 15k mi on it.. Bone stock silver with silver rims...
@@seatime674you just ride it to the bike shop and back?
@@zellerized No just an every month Sunday bike..
I just took my MSF this weekend and they had me using a BMW 310 GS which was pretty fun to ride.
One fact you got wrong, the Concours 14 does not have cruse from the factory. A big downer but I love riding it.
Doesn't have the zx14 motor either. C14 has vvt and shaft drive.
AND its Con-coor.. the"s" is not pronounced
And no mention of the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT+. I think it would at least deserve a mention.
Looks sick don't it!! I thought about getting one last year!!!
The 2015 update was more significant than a windscreen redesign. Also, the C14 was discontinued in North America two years ago. Lastly, the C14 never had cruise control.
I started looking at sport touring bikes at 26. Back then I was dreaming abot BMW K1300GT. I am 40 now and still driving my Yamaha FKR 1300 from 2018
Fjr is a great all-rounder. If you’re only gonna have one bike, FJR is the way to go.
Never had a Super Tenere 1200 but my Yamaha mechanic said to me: don't buy it because you'll never ride your fine FJR again.... So probably the ST 1200 is the best all-rounderr 😋
I have a 2022 Concours 14. I’m hoping once I get to 100,000 miles on it, Kawasaki will come out with a new Concours that has more modern amenities.
Kawasaki H2 SX SE+ for me. Other choice is KTM 890 Adventure. Tough one down here in Cabo San Lucas.
I fit better on the h2 sx but the updated look and tech isn't for me, plus the price is insane, used pre-facelift models are still like $20k
Will keep my zx14. Can get hard luggage if I really want to. After a max of 6 hours on a bike is enough for me anyways. Not out there trying to monster mileage in a year. It isn't the miles its the smiles and the big zx14 will split your head in two with the smiles it gives you.
I had two zx12r's and tried a friend's busa... concours definitely shines on 6-8 hour trips.
@@ride1400fast If I ever go with something more "touring" it will be a concours. But I will never be without my zx14. It is such so amazing and really one of those motorbikes that will surprise anybody.
Just logged a 1600 mile road trip on an 86 concours 1000, he speaks the truth as always, all hail papa yam
I've owned 2 of these chonky Bois.
An 08 and then just got a 16.
Never going back although I'll definitely get a dedicated adventure bike eventually.
@9:29 you mentioned that the C14 has cruise control. It does NOT, and is the only thing I dont like about mine.
Loved my 2012 Connie, but no cruise and valve adjustments were very expensive.
LOL
Valve adjustment every 50k.
Cruise control cruise control cruise control, I've had two of them, loved them. Had to get rid of that potato shooter exhaust though.
Wow, panniers really used to just look like samsonite suitcases.
RIGHT???!!! 😅😅😂😂😂
And they were stupid rugged unlike that flimsy plastic they use now.
I owned two C14’s over the years. Great bikes but no longer available here in the US either. I’ve since moved onto a 2021 H2SXSE.
Good luck finding a new K1600 for $23k, even for the base model.
I loved mine, and am still crying that I toataled it (many pieces). And that is why I am an ATGATT guy, hehe.
45 here, looking at the VFR1200X and Super Tenere for ‘crushing miles’ in comfort, not into sporty ergos but I wish I was.
Zx14 at 7:36! Is this a trick/easter egg yammie? Lol
Just hearing that I cringed..I did the same thing when I hit 65😢
People must flash these or PC
I went ahead and flashed mine, so won't experience what O.P. describes.
Gotta tune her and get rid of the governor. Makes it way smoother too😊
@@brandynborsi4748I’ve personally moved into the adventure world now anyway.
I missed the FJR 1300 I had but had to give up due to my divorce. I just picked up my 2008 Kawasaki Concours this last Friday and so far I really like it.
No mention of the Suzuki GXS-1000sgt+? Cheaper than all mentioned with hard bags.
I owned the 1st year 1400 model. Very fast and very comfortable. Crazy highway passing power.
Ummm Yam are you reading my mind? This is literally the bike I have been looking at for my upgrade from my SV650s just the other week
The Ninja 1000SX is not a modified version of the ZX10R superbike. That engine is from the 90s and is a bored out ZX9R. (And apparently that engine was a mix of the ZZR1100 and ZX7R.) It's been around forever...
Looks like a sporty Honda goldwing
Brilliant and entertaining Yammie. Like my cheap as chips ZG1000A16 in sparkle blue.
Yammie, what are your thoughts on the H2 SX? I had a 22' Goldwing, and was wanting a sportier more agile ride, so traded it for the 23' H2 SX.
H2 sx is my dream bike but I just can't send $30,000
@@Lemmon714_ Just paid off the Mustang so makes it a bit easier.
Shame the bike hasn’t been updated since 07. Desperately needs a refresh with features like cruise control.
I'm a Baby Boomer. I love the Concours. They're a bargain new but a real bargain used. But my wife won't ride on anything but a Harley.
Think ya need a more fun wife 🤣
Same here. I had a BMW K1200RS and BMW K1200R Sport and now I have a Goldwing. She rides on the Softail Heritage Springer or the CVO Road King with the 103 cu in... She will not ride on anything but a Harley... Smart wife.
Leave her at home.
@@ColdWarVeteran-r2j never going to happen, that is why I have been married for 44 years!
Ride a K1600GT. Have no issues with very long rides.
I had Tuono and Stelvio before getting my Connie. The 2 things I hate about it is that there’s no cruise control and the seat is super tall
But does the Kawasaki have cruise control ? ..........
Gonna have to test ride one of these , been trying to find something better than my fjr1300
Oh yeh, no more chains n sprockets.😊
It ain't no better. FJR is a brilliant bike. Had a Concours 1000, bought a 1400, went back to a 1000.1000 might not be as high tech or as powerful as the 1400..but it's a better bike, An FJR 1300 is on my radar. Better looking than the Concours 1400 IMO..and I'm a I'm awi man.

How do you feel the C1 is better than the C14?
Lighter feel, or you felt better with the C1, like a comfy pair of boots?
Yeh, l know they're shaft drive, not a big fan of chains.
@@GPz84 I've done my research and i'll be honest , i'm looking into a newer FJR than a Concours overall looks better and feels better after having tried a concours.
Is yammie gonna do a video on the superbusa??
the sx does make 200hp not 166.
C14 does NOT have cruise control as YN erroneously states in his video.
Some exclusions and errors. Shame about that. No mention of the variable valve timing for yhe Concours 14. Shame, it was one of the first, if not the first to do it , off of the top of my head. Erroneously stated that the Concours 14 has Cruise control. It doesn't. If you want that purchase it from Mc cruise for $900 before install.
I want a sport tourer, I'm only 42 years old lol. I currently own a 02 Honda vtx1800c, it has space for the wife and me. My biggest problem is stopping every 100 miles for gas 😢.
Some good information provided here...in typical Yammme Noob fashion!
Only one thing needs to be said... You need to reduce the 'Echo' in your audo. Otherwise I do truly appreciate the fact that you actually read the script yourself rather than having a 'cheap AI' massacre the pronunciation. It just sounds like you're talking to me in a nearly empty garage.
Still mispronounces Concours. The s is silent
I just turned 44, just a year off from your last prediction Yam's...
Thanks for all the history of the bike Yam! Really interesting! Kind of makes me want one... although I would be more likely to go Transalp.
THANK YOU 🙏🏾 yammie

Wow you need to update the info on the H2sx 😅
Sold my high maintenance 1990 Concours 1000, got a 1986 GoldWing 1200 Aspencade, and enjoyed a better motorcycle. Cooler in the cockpit, better balance, lower center of gravity, higher reliability, higher build quality, better engine design.
Good for you.
Nope! You couldn't pay me to ride that. However, I'd take that over the Honda Winnebago (Goldwing). It really blows my mind when I see guys at the track on em 😂
