This is called blue-eyed soul. These guys were the best. Bobby Hatfield with his beautiful tenor voice & Bill Medley with his deep bass voice. They were magic together. And remember this is done live. No auto-tuning crap like today. And the songs had meaningful beautiful lyrics.

They were not brothers by blood but they were still righteous.
No they are not brothers. They were originally separate acts and a promoter suggested that they form a duet. The name Righteous came from a comment made by another musician when he heard them sing. He called what he heard "Righteous" they tacked on brothers. Bobby (the blond one) passed about 2 or 3 years ago. Last I heard Bill is still with us.
They got their name from a Black G.I. Went he stood up and said righteous brother as the use to sing fo the Black GIs
Side note: one of the background singers is a very young Cher.

I am afraid that, to me, there is a darker side of this song. Don't get me wrong, I have always loved it since it was first released when I was a kid. But now, listening to the lyrics, knowing what I know, it is horribly sad. He is in love, desperate to put the relationship back together, bring back the love. But she is already detached emotionally from him, and her heart is no longer his. Yeah, he can woo her back, for a while, but they will soon be here again, and again, until he decides he can no longer stand the pain and lets her go, like I did, after 10 years of marriage. My live did not improve until she left one last time, and I locked the door. I didn't kill the love, she did, and the way she treated our child drove a stake through it. I can forgive the pain she gave me, but I cannot forgive the pain she gave our son to try to hurt me. Our son is grown, she lives in poverty, I live in luxury, and I owe her nothing, least of all respect.

"Baby, baby . . . I get down on my knees," is the line that was interrupted . . . One of the best lines in the song. If you are going to pause in the middle of a line, use your arrow key to backtrack a few seconds. Just a suggestion.
