These 3 brothers were musical geniuses as was their younger brother Andy who passed away very young. Barry once said writing a song alone was the loneliest thing in the world which is why they wrote together most times. Mo said the three of them writing songs was a form of meditation as their minds became one. There will never be another group like them.

Only Barry - the tallest of the brothers - is left now. Very sad. Brilliant musicians. Try listening to Staying Alive or Night Fever. They were fanous in Australia (where they grew up) before then, but the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever made them stars - along with John Travolta who starred in the movie. Most of their music they played the instruments themselves.

They gained international fame in 1967, with their album "Bee Gees 1st" (which was actually their 3rd album). Their 1st big hit was Massachusetts, in 1967, which hit #1 in 13 countries, #2 in 5 more (hit #11 in the US) . 1967-72 (all before SNF) they charted at least 11 singles worldwide. They took a lot of heat for SNF, from their existing fans, who didn't like the change in their singing style.

Been singing together since children. The twins are gone now. Barry in the middle is alone. Such beautiful talent!! Amazing history. Very big in the disco era. See the movie Saturday Night Fever. Love love them. I still listen to their music today.

I remember my Mom listening to this song (and others from the Bee Gees) when I was like 6-7 years old back in the early/mid 80s and for like 10 years after that I would've swore that they were women singing! It was a big shock when I first saw this video and they turned out to be dudes! Dudes or gals, I would've loved their songs anyways 'till these days. Great band and a gem in musical history for sure!
BGs or BeeGees stands for Brothers Gibb, as all 3 are brothers: Barry (lead, oldest), Robin (long blonde, youngest), and Maurice. Barry still living. Robin & Maurice have passed. Rest in peace. Andy is also another brother, in the mold of Barry, that passed some time ago.

Everyone seems to do the disco era of the Bee Gees but they are so much more than that. I grew up with this great group. Love their early music especially 60's-70's. Surviving member of the Bee Gees, Barry Gibb just released new album called Greenfields last weekend on the 8th. Greenfields is a collection of Bee Gees' songs with Barry plus well-known country artists such as Dolly Parton. It is Bee Gees with a country twist.

Barry, in the middle is the oldest, and the only surviving brother. Maurice and Robin were twins. They had a younger brother, Andy, who was only 30 when he died in 1988.

The Bee Gees (among the most successful groups of all time) wrote & released Too Much Heaven in 1978. It was climbing charts world wide (already #1 in US & Canada, #3 in UK) before the Jan 1979 fundraiser, “Music for UNICEF.” They then donated, in perpetuity, ALL their royalties, not just from the UNICEF event, merch & compilation album (as the other bands did, though some just for a limited time), but also their publishing rights. So, UNICEF continues to get paid, from anyone’s version & any use (including in movies, TV, commercials, etc). As the 1st band to make such a donation to charity, they were recognized for it by UN Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim & invited to the White House by President Carter. The last official tally I saw was 2011, saying UNICEF had received more than 10 million British pounds from it, for emergency food & healthcare. I’ve seen others post it hit 20 million as of 2019, but I haven’t found an official source for that.

They are brothers. The middle man, Andy, became an alcoholic and died of a broken heart because Actress Victoria Principle broke it off with him.
@@sailasimone6175 Andy was not a Bee Gee & is not in this video. The Bee Gees are; Left, Robin, Middle, Barry & Right, Maurice. They started in 1955 & took the name BGs (Bee Gee's) in 1958, the year Andy was born. By the time Andy was 10, his brothers were already internationally known. They were all very supportive of Andy’s solo career. Barry wrote, co-produced & sang back-up on Andy’s 1st #1 hit, I Just Want To Be Your Everything. Shadow Dancing, another #1, was written by all 4 brothers (again Barry sang back up & co-produced). Sadly, Andy’s mental health issues, cocaine & alcohol addiction, took a terrible toll on his career & health, but his brothers kept trying to help (professionally & personally). Early 1988, they announced he would become a Bee Gee (beginning with their next album & 1989 tour), but he died March 10, 1988, of myocarditis, before that could happen. Of the 4 brothers, only Barry is living.

In this song the BeeGees are lamenting that "Nobody gets too much heaven no more" which means that everyone at best gets a moderate amount of love if not a little or no love at all in this world - that it's no longer abundantly given and shared - and people are busy with their not so happy lives. That's what it's about. A sad song very beautifully sung, even though it was overplayed on the radio back in 1978. But with the space of time of not hearing a good song like this, you can appreciate the musical craftsmanship that was put into it.

The group the Bee Gees were brothers. All 3 brothers have falsetto range which made them that more talented. The Bee Gees have been recording as a group since the early 60's. The group became even more popular in the 70's. Their music could easily stand up today in rotation on any R&B or Soft Rock Radio station. Sadly, Barry Gibb the lead singer is the only brother still alive. The youngest brother Andy Gibb not in the group, but a great solo artist in his own right passed away first. Maurice Gibb passed away then Robin Gibb passed away leaving only Barry.

The reason Saturday night fever was such a success wasn't because of John Travolta although he did do some grass dancing but it was the bee gees sound track that made that movie such a success 👍
3 brothers who grew up in Australia singing together as kids and writing and performing music since teenagers in late 50s and early 60s. They wrote music and lyrics and sang all of their own songs, as well as writing songs for other performers. Their harmonizing is natural and not forced. Started performing and recording in the 60s back in England. This is one of their most beautiful love songs. Music, lyrics and singing are perfect. And their songs got better and better over the years. And now their children are performing and touring. Barry, the oldest, is the only one left alive now but he is still writing and producing music and mentoring young musicians, after 64 years.
