when a band's "bad performance" gets revisited by thousands of people in a day, the band is truly one of the best band!

    • @maxxxmodelz4061

It's only considered "bad" because they are so well respected by fans that even a great performance like this is considered underperforming. I'm sure the people there live didn't give a shit. They loved it.

They are too messed up to play the drummer not playing and they are clearly not into it. They are my favorite rock band of all time and that won’t change . I had my own blues band in the 90s and if I was too messed up they wouldn’t let me play and there were many times I was. They are GOAT!

These guys literally came from different places on earth to be together to play this one off gig, with only about one hour of practice time before hitting the stage. With that in mind, I think they sounded great. I remember watching this event on live tv with friends as it was happening, and we were all overjoyed and stoked that the remaining members of Zeppelin were actually performing again. Listen to the joy and cheering from the crowd at the end....they all thought it was great. The VJ's from MTV were beside themselves from happiness. This was an historical moment in rock history, and for those who criticize this performance can go screw themselves, because EVERYONE back then enjoyed the experience and thought it was awesome.

What so many forget in retrospect is that they agreed last minute to play a few songs that they hadn't played in years to raise some money for a good cause. It was meant to be watched and heard once -on that day. It was a disappointing performance but it was never meant to be be picked apart for years to come on TH-cam. The crowd loved it and money was raised. By the way, I'm old enough to have watched it. The excitement level was off the charts. If you were in that crowd, you wouldn't have gave a shit about the sloppiness. You would have had a f 'ing blast.

Say what you will about this performance, but bands like Led Zeppelin are few and far between. The look that Robert gives Jimmy at 1:19, to me, is filled with memories of a time past, when they were at the height of their career, standing in those very places steamrolling the rock and roll industry, creating a type of magic that those around to witness were truly lucky to experience. @laurabaird7267 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

No, it’s not “would have” it WAS. Live Aid was the best concert in history. Period. Back then you had to pay to have access to most music video stations as most humans had just the most basic of cable but on that day everything was free. The world opened up and channel corporations allowed the average person like me to watch this extraordinary event. Until the Gulf War a few years later I had never seen paid channels open themselves to everyone. All performers kept to their time frame, no one tried to go over and no egos got in the way - it was the most amazing concert ever! And Phil Collins tool the concord so that he could play at both the British and US concerts - he just wanted to play the drums and help out. There is a book that came out shortly after the concert, but I’m sure it’s long out of print by now, but it or the DVD are well worth the hunt. This was the concert of the century and beyond, it changed music, and it was one of the most amazing experiences watching on my living room floor settled into the shag carpet!

It makes me sad seeing them like this, the biggest and most influential band no longer at their prime, but it's still amazing that they came together to do this show! I know that any gigs they have done since this i.e. 2007 at the O2 was back to the quality that we know them for, even if the the drummer is Jason Bonham, Zeppelin need a Bonham, that just seems to be fact! But one thing for sure, IF they ever did one more tour or gig, I'd buy a ticket without a moments thought!

Each of these men paid their dues. They solidified rock music and took songs to such high levels it became difficult for most any band to reach the heights the Zepp members took it to. While most bands play hard to reach top notch standards but fail, Led Zepplin kept going with better and better. Once bands reach that high plateau, they are unable to do so after. Zepp kept it going. They will always remain the soul of Rock and Roll from each and every song they presented. We get older, things don't quite work as they used to. They came together, on stage after many years and played. Getting to stand and watch them perform would have been an honor. Stairway will always rate number one.
