Thank you for the information on the fans. What is the part number for the new thicker fans? Thanks Chris

Hey bud, fellow bbc guy here, your fans are hella thick, but I’m running factory for wind star fans(made by spal) that pull over 4,000 cfm. They don’t look as slick but work and for less than $40 at junkyard. Just fyi. Looks super sick tho.

Hey there. Yeah, it’s the space constraints I have. Had to go custom. Wanted to use a Taurus fan. Just can’t make anything fit without a custom shroud.

The engineers at Spal certainly know what they’re doing! Great info. Work smarter not harder…

Could you add the model numbers to the video info? The old and the new? Would be helpful!
Thank for another great video !

      Old fan is a 30102044.
      New fan is a 30103202.

Do you know what wattage the fans are, please.

Great information. I'm learning about cars from channels like yours. How to I find amp voltage from my 1965 c10? I noticed different spal models pull different amps. I have classic 12v box with bulb fuses. Would love to get feedback. Thanks.

You have to add a circuit that’s designed for the fan. None of the existing electrical will support it. You have to add a completely new circuit from the battery using a relay or other controller.

In one of your older videos you decided on a Summit Racing fan made by I think Faz or something. Did those not work out?
I'm working on a Spal setup using dual 11" Extreme HO series (30102800 which is VA03-AP90-LL-68A) they are a beast. I'm going to run them with an Autocoolguy controller.

That was for a different vehicle. It worked fine but I went with a bigger fan on that project for more capacity.

@@mechtrician1 with these higher output fans in this video, are you still running them with an Autocoolguy? What gauge wiring and fuses did you use with these Spal fans? The chart for my particular fans looks like they can pull between 25-35 amps each....I am thinking wiring them separately using either 8 or 10gauge wire.

    • @mechtrician1
      @mechtrician1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@stephenwhite5444 using the same Autocool controller. I measured 25 amps each. I am using hi temperature 10 gauge that’s actually good for 40 amps with individual circuits for each fan fed from the single controller. Both fused at 40a.

@@mechtrician1 I just realized that Spal says only their brushless fans are pwm controllable. That makes me wonder if all of their brushed fans will eventually get destroyed by a pwm controller? Did Spal ever confirm anything with you about running pwm controllers with their brushed fans?
Now I'm worried that I may not be able to use pwm with the expensive Spal extreme fans I have on the way.

@@stephenwhite5444 yes I talked to one of their application engineers. He confirmed it the PWM is minimum 7kHz, it will be fine. Been running 2 Autocool HF-125s on two vehicles for a couple of years now. No problems.
