  • We address a clutch slippage problem in a cub cadet 102. Initially thought it was a pressure plate issue, turns out it was much more than that. We got it fixed only to find another drivetrain problem. We’ll address that in the next episode. Thanks for watching!

    Nice job showing the works of a clutch.
    I’ve been looking at ever 16:56 video trying to find the proper way to install those 3 small springs that go on motor side of clutch. Your video showed me exactly witch side goes towards motor.

    Super helpful. Im building a puller with the same 3 pin style clutch and i bought the tractor as a roller and couldnt figure out for the life of me how that clutch worked, this helped a ton and made me realize what a money pit i bought

      @karnesmotorsports actually I was the one with the 7790 diesel at Pike, that's what I'm putting the cub rear in. Ended up having belt slip and it was my weak link so I can't add any power till that's fixed.

      @karnesmotorsports you wouldn't have any pressure plates kicking around would you? I'm thinking mine are pretty badly pitted up just from the exterior look, I havnt torn into it yet.

    you have a gem there. creeper and headlights. nice options. i've been picking those old narrow frames up when i see a good deal. i have a 100 that needs the clutch among other things. thanks for the video. helps a lot. i really like how you took the front end and hood off all in one clip. makes it a lot easier to straighten/shim it when going back on.

    • @karnesmotorsports

      Thanks! I’ve never had a creeper before, it is pretty handy. I didn’t really realize not a lot had headlights. I don’t really know why I bought this tractor, but it’s come in handy. I put a sleeve hitch on it, got a snow blower for $22 from a local auction. It has the cleanest narrow frame deck I’ve ever seen. I was snagging them up whenever I found a good deal, it’s getting harder to find a good deal on one. Yea the hoods can be a pain when taken off the grill. Just gotta watch your fingers, it’s a heck of a pinch point, I learned the hard way! Thanks for watching!

    Nice work, almost looked pitted like the disc rusted to the plate somewhere along the way. Best days to you and your family 👍🏼

    • @karnesmotorsports
      @karnesmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea that’s what I’m thinking is it rusted itself together at some point. The guy threw a new disc in it and then the spring broke.

    I bought a 102 at a swap meet Friday it had a brand new spark plug and a fresh oil change I should have been suspicious. I brought it home and after a couple of hours it started smoking and died. Plug fouled you guessed it oil. It had a small gas leak I thought it was the sediment bowl it turned out to be the gas tank bearings in the generator starter are bad but it still charged the steering was so bad you couldn't drive it in a straight line after closer inspection I found that the front axle had been ripped off of the frame and re-welded back on but they did not Square it or true it up. The only thing that does not need attention is the rear axle. So now I have a 102 I'm parting out. I found it it's worth more in Parts than it is whole.

    • @karnesmotorsports
      @karnesmotorsports  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea they’re definitely worth more parting them out. It makes you wonder what people do to these to destroy them, they’re tougher than woodpecker lips!! I’ve bought a couple for parts over the years with intentions to sell the parts. I usually end up finding another one and building 1 out of the two. We’ve been using the crap out of this one recently. I scored a snow blower at an auction for like $20, used that a few times this winter, I found a snow plow for the front, I added a sleeve hitch to it. It’s pretty handy! I guess I’ll keep her around. I have a 125 I want to get going the hydro would be handy for yard work. I have another 102 I bought for parts. It had been sitting for years, I cleaned the points and the carb it fired right up and ran. I’ve been lucky on the last couple I’ve bought. Thanks for watching!

    Would you have the part numbers for everything? I need to do the same as you on my 102.

    • @karnesmotorsports
      @karnesmotorsports  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t have part numbers handy, Go check out www.zkbrmachine.com their website is pretty easy to navigate. I got a driveshaft, throw out bearing, a blue spring, and some 5/8” collars. I used the stock replacement clutch disk that was in it. I’ll go check it out and see if I can come up with some numbers for you. We use kerber’s clutches in all our pullers. They’re the absolute best bang for the buck.

    I took my shaft out without taking grill off and not move engine. Undo clutch hanger, drive pin out of shaft in front of tranny. That shaft will go out on right side right behind generator.

      I knew what you meant lol! Those springs were foreign to me. We usually pitch the stock clutch/driveshaft and swap in a 3 puck for pulling. This tractor is a neat one to have around, purrs like a kitten at a milk pail! Thanks for watching!
