I wonder Sam, this may sound naive, but does the videoing of this engine take apart , take much longer when you have to film it ? theres a lot of screws again to remove , it must be tedious sometimes to have to set aside a certain amount of time to film these . Thats why I appreciate the time you take .
Making videos always slows things down! :) It's the hardest part of trying to get things done but also produce a video on it. I'd say the video process at least doubles the actual work time, then you have to add on editing time afterwards. It's def. not a "smart thing" from a time investment standpoint unless you factor in possible revenue from the videos long-term. But even then it's hit-and-miss. Some videos take off, most just get initial views and never grow. It's why my #1 advice to anyone who wants to "try TH-cam" is to enjoy the process of creating a video just for the process and not dream or count on any money from it. :)
@@sam-and-angela good advice. My kids want me to do you tube, but the only reason I'd want to do it is to document everything for family and friends. Anything else would be a plus. 🤷
@@sam-and-angela Hello family on the homestead 🙂first time I have seen your channel, and I like it a lot. Please never sell that cadet, it is soo beautiful I cant believe it!! Let your son take care of it and use on the farm, he is lowing it. Wish you all a happy holiday
Little boys learn from the big men in their lives. His enthusiasm is admirable. I hope he carries it to adulthood. I vote you give him chores that he can do with the tractor and charge him a few "hours" worth of work!
I love how you guys are able to turn chores, remodeling, maintenance, landscaping, etc into educational opportunities for your children. That's the beautiful joy of parenting quite honestly, being able to teach your children life skills and for them to be completely engaged in the lesson without them necessarily realizing at the moment that they're learning valuable life long skills. Bravo to all of you...Also, keep the cadet for Elijah to hone his landscaping & mechanical skills. You could create an entire new lesson on financing, interest rates & hourly wages, etc for him.
Angela! It's not boring to watch things being cleaned or restored! There are people who make a great living on youtube just cleaning, restoring and refurbishing appliances etc. without ever saying a word! SAM!! Let the boy have it! He deserves it!
I love this tractor! I love that you work together with your wife and your sons on it! What i love most is that you give it to the loving hands of your son! Now he can start his own career as gardener or snow plower! To give it to him will pay back in the future and is more worth than a few bucks! He will help you more and more with that little international! 😀👍🏻
I love watching Elijah grow as a person... He's such a sweet kid. Good luck selling at Elijah will be trying to do everything to make money to buy it...hugs
Unless you get a good offer for that tractor, I would think it's value would be in Elijah having experience using a tractor. He's showing he's got a good work ethic, so maybe this would be a good reward for helping out. And I'm sure there will be plenty of projects where he could use it.
That CC is an antique! It cleaned up very nice. And what an excellent learning experience for Elijah. It could also make him a more experienced driver, too.
That would never resemble a tractor when I got through with it! All those pieces and parts would end up looking like abstract art when it was over with! Great to see Elijah helping and learning from his Dad!
Great Dad. I think that your son will grow up to be self sufficient, an excellent mechanic and a great Dad through your example. This is what we need more of. Thank you.
Teaching the boy how to turn a wrench is priceless. These are things he will remember forever, and maybe enough to get him involved in the trades, where we need more people.
Clutch yoke. I would consider the Cub Cadet being passed down to your mechanical son as his first unit to mow and garden with. Those old beasts with outlast anything made since the 1990s. My honest opinion.
I love watching your guys videos. You are a faith based family, you include your kids in when you can and I love watching what you guys run into and create. I have learned how to do some things for myself along the way...like getting up enough nerve to wire my own shed, thank you! I didn't read all these comments yet, but did you let your boy keep the tractor? Man, to be that age and get a tractor that I could drive, that would be heaven on earth! I had my own roto-tiller but not the same.
This is a great learning video and a great emotional video seeing a family work together. Its nice to see these values still exist at this time and age.
Awesome teachable moments with the kids. Teach them while they are young and they will appreciate it later in life. Those teachable moments help viewers, like me, too. I really enjoy watching your channel.
I love watching these mechanics videos. You are so sure that you can put things all back together after dismantling them. That blows me away. Your children are so fortunate to have someone with that kind of confidence around to introduce them to repairing old stuff (much better made) and saving big time.
Sam, I’m glad you didn’t fall but Angela’s laugh just made it that much funnier!! 😂 Also, Cub Cadet I know a certain young man that would love his own garden tractor!!
Awwww, let him keep it. It's perfect for him. I must say the cleaning/power washing was ever so satisfying! Great job everyone!! All hands were on deck for this one.
It's so great to see a father letting his kids get their hands dirty working on things. Giving them a love for fixing things and seeing all their hard work pay off. Not enough of that nowadays. Way to go Dad 👍😁
Very strong little tractors Sam. I recently gave a Cub Cadet 123 to a coworker. It ran fine, just always had trouble with the starterator/genenator. Mine had the same exact 12 HP Kohler engine and hydrostat tranny. If you could get traction, it would pull just about anything you hooked to it. I bet it too was an early 60's model. As I'm a 1962 model LoL. Great project for you and Elijah.
Ha, I forgot to mention, the whole time I owned that 123 Cub I never knew how to turn the headlights on. My coworker found the switch down by the lefthand side of the running board. He pulled the switch and both lights worked. LoL
Just watch an older video and I just want to let you and Angela know how proud you certainly are of your boys. I am the oldest boy of 11 kids and spent most of my life at my fathers side and learned how to work, without him asking me. Every time I watch one of your videos, all the wonderful years I spent working or just watching at his side come rushing back. You and Angela have been truly blessed by God to have those two boys. Keep doing what you are doing. God bless Bill Frantz
Come on guys, let Elijah keep the Cub Cadet. He is getting big enough to help with things, and I am sure there will be plenty for him to do with the ride.

I remember working with my dad and grandpa on old trucks and farm equipment. Then afterwards being allowed to drive them. Great job Sam.
What a great video! That brought me back to when I was about your sons age and I wanted a Cub Cadet so bad I could taste it. It was like a first car to me, but we couldn’t afford it. You’re making some great memories with your kids, you’re a very blessed man. Enjoy.
My late Husband let the kids watch him when he was fixing stuff. Both Sons became mechanics. One makes money at it the other does the fixing on my house and anything he can fix. Loved that they learned from their Dad.
