Those vanguards are great small engines. I've got a 16hp on my gator and I've got a John Deere 216 with the same 16hp k-341 as the older mower and it's a great engine as well.

Hello From Mark In Kentucky; I have 3 Cub Cadets and can say that when running that it is hard to believe how much power they actually have.
The points and condensers can be very finicky as you found out. Check out the condenser to see if there’s any residual oil on the condenser case itself and be sure to check all of the connections.
The hydraulic filter should be located underneath the floor pan between the seat and dash console. There’s a very good chance that it is probably the OEM filter with the original hydraulic fluid in the transmission. The fluid should be IH Hy-Tran rated and will take 7 quarts if you decide to do a transmission service. Also scrape the oil scum from inside the transmission casing or the scum will flake off internally and cause transmission problems just like an automatic transmission in a vehicle would.
Unfortunately I am not as familiar with the newer Cub Cadet that you have to know if it’s belt driven or shaft driven but I am confident that a good number of the parts will interchange between the two tractors especially if the newer tractor has the driveshaft.
Look for the ID plate which should be located on the left side of the tractor on the fender around the seat. The number on the ID plate will tell you exactly which Cub Cadets that you have.

Hi mark, thanks for watching! As you’ll see in the next video in this series I get it driving which it does have plenty of power and I can imagine it’ll get much better once I get the tractor running properly.
I will definitely be taking a look into the Hydraulic as I assume it’s probably never been even thought about.

@@weldingandwheeling9883 A lot of people other than the hardcore Cub Cadet people like myself have no clue about the hydraulic filter and what the proper hydraulic fluid is for the transmission.
As far as parts for my Cubs, I am no stranger to eBay - But there are a surprising number of new parts still available through Cub Cadet dealers and other good sources. The rear wheels are not very difficult to find, But the front wheels can be kind of iffy to find for a reasonable price depending on which ones you have.
I will be looking forward to seeing your next video.
