My Ex sat idle for about 5 years. I dusted it off about 2 weeks ago. One thing that needed attention was a frozen vent window motor. The first thing I did was twist the pivot arm while my wife pressed the button. Shazam! It freed it up. A few repetitions of opening and closing has it working. I seldom use these windows but I hate stuff that doesn't work.
But thanks to your video, I've added cleaning out the old grease from both motors to the list of stuff-to-be-done.
Thanks for this simple quick video.

I too want to thank you for taking the trouble to video and post this. Followed your procedure to get rid of old grease as much as possible, but after installation, operation is intermittent. Pulled it out again to determine issue. Applied 12VDC on bench and motor sometimes has plenty of torque, sometimes not. Makes me wonder how it knows wen to quit running? A normal window regulator will keep trying to spin until you quit pushing its button. These seem to have some kind of limiter built in. Don't know if it's thermally controlled or what, but I'm in no hurry to cough up $50 if I don't have to.

On the shaft of the main gear there is a "lug" which stops the motor when it hits the outer range...

@@ryanmcdonald5351 Thanks. Found the issue. There is a resister between the supply voltage and the motor, built into the assembly. The motor can be pried out on one end, without taking the crank off the shaft. I cleaned the contacts on that "resister", and now the unit has plenty of torque. Power is supplied to it as long as you hold the switch down.

I have the opposite problem, They don't work when it is warm out, only during the Midwestern winters! I discovered this issue because I found it also in my Honda Odyssey. There is a thermal puddy used as a safety resistor that blocks voltage as it over heats to prevent fires and motor burnout, but as it ages it takes less and less heat to block voltage. There are instructables online on how to bypass this with a small voltage light bulb. Check it out if your issue is like mine. The vent motors are almost identical....probably all made in the same factory.

I thought I'd never get the vent in my expedition closed

Yeah I knew it wasn't the switch because I can hear it clicking. It was dried up Grease binding up. It makes sense why it works in the summer because the heat loosens the grease. Instead of telling us the bolt length which is not very important and really don't care how long the bolt is. Next time tell us what socket it is it's a 8 mm. Good video thanks for the help.

Thank you for your video! Very helpful! I purchased the motor for my 2005 Excursion, but the window mounting pad has a "ball" with a clip/pin and the ball cracked off. Do you know where to purchase the motor mounting pad? The pad is symmetrical, so it should be able to be used for both passenger and driver sides. Thank in advance for any help.

Do you have a link for the new motors on Amazon?

Do you know the adhesive to use for the tab that is adhered to the window (attaches on the ball joint of the motor)? I purchased new motors, and am good with that, but I've tried 6 adhesives and the tab on the window does not stick.

Use rear view mirror adhesive or call an automotive glass shop. www.amazon.com/3M-08749-Rearview-Mirror-Adhesive/dp/B004MEDFFM/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2F9MJ78S3XKVE&keywords=rear+view+mirror+adhesive&qid=1665847701&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIzLjg3IiwicXNhIjoiMy40MSIsInFzcCI6IjMuMzAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=rear+view+mirror+adhesive%2Caps%2C127&sr=8-5
