I've been dragging my feet for 3 years because I had no idea what I was in for to fix the exact same leak on my X. Thank you-thank you-thank you!! I was afraid it was impossible to remove the back window without breaking it, it doesn't look so bad after all! Your vid is a great source saving me time, money and a ton of frustration! I did notice your seal placement but you also corrected yourself, good job on the repair!
I have a leak that I could not locate. During certain conditions I have water in the carpet at the right rear area, but no signs where it is coming from. I expected it to be something to do with the liftgate seal. This could be it. Glad I found this.
I've been putting this off for years and was finally getting to it as part of installing a rear camera in the hatch door handle... I couldn't find all the screws and didn't think to look on the outside! Thanks. It gave me a scare when you dropped out of frame with the glass that you'd fallen down with it! Glad it worked out.
Thanks for the video. I removed the glass and found a gap from the factory seal. The process appers to be dificult but it was fairly simple. The worst was removing the old sealer with a razor blade. Thanks again for sharing.
Excellent vid. Mine has been leaking onto the carpet for the past couple years and I didn’t know where it was coming from. After removing the panels I was able to detect water coming from the top of the tailgate glass just like yours. I will be tackling this project thanks to your contribution to TH-cam university😁. Your content is very much appreciated
You just saved me $55k, I was about to go buy a new truck because my stuff kept getting wet in the trunk. I followed your video and repaired my leak, I found the 3m sealant on amazon for about $30. now I will be happy with my truck for at least a few more months
Don't worry there will be something else. The little ball that holds my hatch up broke off at the base so you cant put a new one in without making a new base.....you know stuff like that.
Keep it as long as you can the new stuff is all shit ... (includes all and every manufacturer) they dont make em like the mighty HD-based Excursions........for sure.
Thanks for the great video, about how long did that all take you? Im also wondering whst the torque spec is for the bolts holding the glass in, maybe I can find it...been wanting to buy the factory service manuals.

That was the same for me. No more leaks!

Perfect time to fix the rear hatch lock if it doesn't work.
Let him pee in the bushes😂😂😂
Why not put the seam at the bottom? Seems like the water intrusion starts from the top down, at least that where my issue is, from the top.
I said that in the video. If I had to do it again, I would

I never check these channel so sorry for the late response. It took me about 2-3 hours but I wasn't working on it non stop.
Yeah, 3/8 is waayyyyy too much lol, I can’t even get enough thread through to put the nuts on to tighten it down.
Did it stop the leaks? Mine is leaking in same area
Yep! No more leaks!
Is there a torque spec for the bolts?
Can't remember but it's not much
Thanks got mine replaced watching this video only hang up was the wiper motor nut twisted the shaft off lol
