    Props for covering unusual gear! I've still got mine. Yes, it can be sequenced by MIDI though the front panel can't

      Yep that's what I've found. And thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel :)

    I had one of these. Creating the midi tracks to upload to this thing was a real chore. Got rid of many years ago.

      Worst is when you power off the machine, the midi needs to be reinput... but the fact I can rumble a house down with this thing is why it rules ;) the disk is also software aka a cdrom ;)

    This is one of those gadgets that inspires something like the cheezy cool intro in Michael Jackson’s Black or White, and then you never use it again... and it’s totally worth it. 😎

    I had one when they were first out along with the original DJX keyboard. Recently been offered one of these for free, now I'm more Midi savvy I'm thinking it'll be pretty cool sequenced with the Beatstep Pro...

    I used to own a DJX keyboard many years ago and truthfully ,the only thing that held it back was the song recorder ,not being a better sequencer .i wish these days some one would bring out keyboards not so much based around GM sounds ,and target more synth sounds of the past ,for sure i would buy one with built in speakers too .

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah man, this is one of those machines that is fun but could have been really seriously good if it had just a few more features (like better access to sequencing) ...and also if it didn't look so ridiculous...

    Ok, so I played my DJX2 KEYBOARD and it did NOT have as many sounds or beats as this little module so I feel left out lol! I was disappointed with the lack of alot of the sounds,beats and effects featured in the module. Ah well.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah this one has slightly more than twice the beats. But of course no sampling. I wish they'd release a DJX3.

    how are you doing drum loop only at 6:38?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You hold down the button above the disk and spin to controller number 74 (or was it 75... I think 74) then release that button and spin the disk anti-clockwise. The audio tracks will disappear. Though it's hard to control which tracks to keep and which to mute.

    hi! any advice for trying to synch this up to to Logic as midi. I have but the DJx only makes this piano sound triggered bytes midi. cant seem to get the drums synched?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wish I had a solution for you. It should work in theory but in my experience, communications like this between old and new gear have an almost 0% success rate!

    I never understood this device. There are no pads or keys, so what can you do with it, apart from playing patterns?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well yeah that's about all you can do with it. I guess the creative part is how you add the effects. And also, it's just easy fun and for some people that's all they want or need.

    • @Jonathan_Doe_
      @Jonathan_Doe_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The different synth voices in each preset are actually available via different midi Presets/program changes so if you output midi from a daw into it, you can use the synth engines simultaneously, and some of the bass sounds are pure filth!

  • @nathantherrien2136
    @nathantherrien2136 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Did you know that there's a device out there called the Kawasaki Disc Mixer? It is a DJX2B for kids, a purple surface with 6 white pads, a scratch disc and a 1 octave keyboard. The built in rhythm patterns are copied strate out of the DJX2B but they downgraded the sound quality to something rediculously bad. You should really try it out, it's quite the capable kids toy.

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sounds cool! There needs to be more synths and beat machines for kids. They have talent that's not restrained by our grown-up ideas about what's "right" and "correct" in music.
