You're right that the JP-8's unison lead sounds quite similar to 'Sounds Like a Melody', but I still wouldn't say it's identical and even the other parts of it still bang. I've recently managed to get enough gear to start seriously working on some dance punk stuff, and this channel is an absolute godsend for those of us young folks who are total novices who don't care for DAWs and love the warmth of a real synth. Keep on rockin, Mr. Disco!

This is a great song. I would listen to a full album of this. Here's his secret ingredient: he's actually a great PLAYER. Not only is he a programmer/gearhead/techhead, he is a good keys/piano player. He has a great sense of melody and harmony. (we also didn't see him woodshedding these ideas). A less secret ingredient: he's playing $15k worth of gear.
I have not heard Capella, but what he is playing sounds very very close to Alphaville - Sound like a melody. (Listen to at least the end of that song.) :)

So, let me explain: in addition to this doubled octave bass technique and the Lin drum beat, try adding some TB303 with an acid pattern line from the late 80's and let us find out how should it sound this combination. I'm really curious how should it sound such arrangement in a similar demo song like this, for example. Thanks and have all the best!

This isn't a question for you Paolo so much as a general statement, but after watching your video yesterday TH-cam recommended your vid of you finding the Tears For Fears triangle and bell samples (definitely nailed it, great job with that!) and ever since first seeing it last year I've been wanting to find good quality samples of that whole "alternate" EPROM set from Linn. I've searched and searched and searched, and while a few samples are out there in HQ most can only be heard on a lofi demo tape. There's so many downright iconic sounds from it that I find it mildly insane that nobody has properly digitized them. Like what gives??
I am no expert, but i know Akai MPC machines have a several variations. I have a friend that had a pretty big library for the MPC series and heard some of them. No super fan of these 80's machines so i dont kbow how large, but im pretty sure its preyy diverse. So some digitalization happend. Maybe somebody even made a plugin for the PC as well. Sometimes it's the little guy with home brew free plugin that is the actuall savior. I def. recommend trying to search using the word free and VST together, and be prepaird for the awsomeness of people in general. Abyways, thats what i know.

You can get damn close but all the quirks of the original hardware are going to provide a unique character that you just can’t recreate.

@@patrickg.259Wikipedia states "sampled" but I think you are right. Sampling it would be more trouble than just recreating it.
