I got one of these when they came out and got a Yamaha su10 at the same time. Gave away the su but kept the DJX. It's awesome. For cheap it can do a lot, takes batteries, has some cool sounds. I used to midi the DJX to my an200 for some cool robotic jibber jabber.
my dad bought this keyboard for me when i was like 8...spent many saturdays playing this. got a yamaha usb-midi interface when i was in middle school and ran it into my pc and midi the internal songs into FL Studio 4 to use the melodies. good memories.
Super fun! And advanced for the time it was launched! Even has a ribbon and a sampler! Love your content and been following you instagram for a couple of years! Learned a lot about gear, love your arrangements and selection of instruments and sounds! Congrats and keep amazing us with your content!
Umm, being on Bad Gear does NOT indicate that, lol … a lot of the gear is actually quite good, a few are actually great, but a fair few are indeed toys. I think the DJX falls in the latter category … but I do like the colours on it! 😎👍🏼 For the money you paid, worth exploring …
@anandbabu4277 it needs 5amps to cope with the bass boost.....you have it full volume, full accompanying rhythms playing with the bass boost ,with 1.5ahr input. It will just restart as the 1st bass kick is played
I have this too and the DJX2😊

Sounds great. Interesting idea to capture the internal patterns!

Thank you. Glad you can take something from it.
The future has not caught up to this amazing synth.
Really like the flow of your videos, which feels kind of natural and really enjoyable. Reingehauen. :)
Thank you 🙏
Great Video! Makes me want to mess around with one of those keyboards!
I used to spend hours jamming and recording beats from the DJX to cassette tapes. Still have it hanging around.
We NEED a DJX 3 now!
It’s about time!!
A friend had a DJX and all we did was using some loops and single notes on the arpeggiator. We never knew it was such a powerful device back then.
Regarding the determination on if something is a toy or an instrument. There is a saying that if it has Midi then its a instrument.
Good point :)
You forget to make a song with the inbuilt sequencer, that kinda cool
I tried the sequencer briefly but it didn't seem intuitive. Maybe I have to give it another try.

yes, of course you're right :)
I still have mine and have used some of the onboard sounds like the pizzicato strings and tympani. I got no shame. Never getting rid of it.
I know that keyboard inside out
Will it work 12v 1.5A adopter..

@anandbabu4277 anything over 2amps should be sufficient with out the bass boost at max....you want that bass boost in needs plenty of juice
@anandbabu4277 I use to use car battery on it while camping ,it takes about 100hrs to flatten a big 12v car battery that holds about 540amps
I had the v2, but it didn’t do midi so returned it.
yes, I read about v2 being not exactly an improvement.
