Hey Amy, great tips! You may also check out the book, The Art of Learning. In that book he talks about building a motivation "trigger". I think his concept could really help people choose and arrange the morning routine items that are best for them!

I've started my "early morning life" thanks to you Amy and I'm already few months in. And I wouldn't change that ME time for anything else anymore! For me yoga in the morning has been a great way to combine moving and meditating. I love it so much that I give myself yoga time on the weekends as well 😄

As a daily writer, I chuckled. Yes, I do wish I was a more regular vlogger, lol. But writing every day is great for charging the creative cells. I love morning pages though I actually have to put those off until later because that initial burst in the morning is some of my most creative time and is best spent on my novel of the day.
I also love the meditation aspect. One of the things that I have done is two different types. One is the traditional sitting up and releasing everything, but the second is the one I actually use to wake up on the days when I don't feel like I want to start my day. For this, I get my eye stones out of the fridge (you can use a reusable eye mask too) and stretch out with a guided meditation track with the cold stones on my eyes. The cold stones wake me up and reduce some of the puffiness while also giving me a few minutes beneath the covers. The cold of the stones and the natural end of the track prevent me from falling asleep, at least so far.
I love the idea of making a list of who I want to reach out to. I want to get better about staying in touch with friends and letting them know I care as well as getting over my aversion of networking.
Mornings are my best times for getting anything done. Afternoons, especially between 1 and 4 and most especially 3 o clock, are my worst. And I need to be careful about not getting too ramped up as it gets close to bedtime.
Anyway great video. Your dress is stunning, and I appreciated your thoughts.

I love spending time with God in the morning. I also love doing yoga and mediation. I also started to journal. I write how u feel, a list of what I would like to do today, 5 things im grateful for, a small part and 5 things like I am beautiful I am smart ect. I always ended it with love me. I also like giving myself the first hug. It sounds silly but before I give love out I love myself first. Trust me it makes me feel good and happy just to be me. Xxx

I enjoy waking up early, i NEVER thought i would be that kind of person, because as a teenager, i would wake up at 11 or at noon. i don't always wake up at 5, sometimes it's at 6, but i do try to do it as often as i can. i just arrive at work an hour earlier, which means i have a quieter morning, more productive, and can get out of work by 4 :)

Meditation has replaced “paging” for me. Outside still in October. It gives me focus and gets my head rebooted. A morning walk jump starts my metabolism. You get me thinking about tweeting my routine. Your ideas got me thinking. Thank you...keep on leading❤️❤️❤️ I’m a big talking book user. Every morning with breakfast. I’m going to integrate the connections idea. I’m all in. GREAT VLOG TODAY.

As a blogger, I find it funny that she mentioned us wanted to make videos more. I totally agree, but I just somehow feel more comfortable writing, than doing videos, so I stick with it, but she is right about that. Love your videos. They keep me motivated, and help inspire my writings. Oh, and 5 A.M is way too much for me. The best I can do now is 6.

Michelle Cox Photography I was reading your comment and I am the exact same way. I can get up early when needed ( barely) lol...but I do my best work in the evening and that’s also when I’m most energetic!

    • @VeggieMagnifique
      @VeggieMagnifique 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Setting an alarm clock in the EVENING has helped me a lot with this! So, for example, I set an alarm for 9:45pm which gives me a 15-minute warning before I'm supposed to be in bed. I also think that you have to *gradually* start to go to bed earlier, otherwise you could end up lying in bed and NOT sleeping which is super frustrating! But day by day, even just 5 or 10 minutes earlier each night, helps a lot with getting to bed earlier. Hope that helps! 💙

    • @VeggieMagnifique
      @VeggieMagnifique 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Exactly! Well done. :) It's so true that when you have to get up early and you haven't gotten enough sleep, you're certainly TOTALLY spent at the end of the day and ready to get to bed! :)

  • @flaurifane

I will take all your IDEAS ;)
What I do is taking time to dress and put some makeup on. Instead of doing it in a hurry, I smile to my face (even if I don't want to) and I take time for me (cream, make up...)
If my mind needs to be ready for the day, my body needs it too ! ;D

Oh I like the idea of doing Duolingo first thing in the morning! It's something I've tried off and on and am always falling out doing, but starting the morning off with it might just work.
I think I'm on a three month streak of five a.m. mornings. One kid or another was always waking up at five and now my mind thinks it's the time that I need to wake up even when no one else is awake. And so, while it used to be annoying (being woken up that early when I really didn't want to be) it's working out now (I've been getting up and using the time to edit).
As always thanks for the great tips for being productive first thing in the a.m.

    This was great Amy!
Thank you so much. I’ve been struggling to get up at 5:30 every day but I just keep doing it.
I’m a really routined person and so for me I get up first thing in the morning brush my teeth m, drink a liter of water and get the coffee going. Then I do my planning in my Passion Planner, a little bit of journaling if I need to about my goals, and then I have my devotions and prayer time. I actually like to work out midday because I work from home and it gives me a reason to get off my butt and go get some sunshine. As a matter of fact, it’s funny you bring up emailing someone you admire because I emailed you last week about some styling tips to get ready for tribe conference.
Really excited to see you speak there next week! I’ll give you a shout again!
    Xo, Bri

I like your ideas a lot, and I will try and see what works for me.... as soon as hell-January (exam month) is over haha.
I like the idea of making a daily meal plan if there were no time for making a weekly one. Otherwise, the food budget and waste really becomes a mess...
I also try to be more social, so I love the idea of spending a few minutes thinking about who you miss speaking to and maybe plan a call in the evening to this person to talk or schedule a day to meet for coffee.
I am a fan of writing 3 goals in the morning that can be both work-related and personal. It can both be 2 work goals, 3 practical house goals, or personal motivating things.
    Ex...
    Personal/Mindful 3 daily goals:
    1) today I want to look people in the eye when they talk
    2) Listen more than i speak
    3) remember to really breathe
    Ex...
    3 daily House Goals:
    1) vacuum the floor
    2) Empty the paper-bin
    3) Hand wash delicate cloth
    Ex...
    3 daily work goals:
    1) Run data through 'SSH software'
    2) Review what the research is about
    3) Visualize the most basic properties of the data and explain them
    Cheers :D

I’ve been working on this a lot lately, too... with lots of setbacks, but hey... still trying.
The main things I want to fit in before my kids wake up are... Exercise (walking while watching a tv show on my tablets gets me going), journaling (I write slow, so I can only fit in 1 page... plus, a few lines for my 10 year journal), and scripture study.
However, my biggest hangup to getting up early is getting to bed at a reasonable time. I NEED a certain amount of down time where I can chill and finish up my day before I can go to bed... and for that to happen, I need to get the kids to bed by a certain time, which means I have to get dinner on the table by a certain time... which means the chain of events to make it all work starts around 3 or 4 pm and needs to go well in order to get in what I need and want to so that I can and will go to bed in time to be able to wake up early. Writing it out in detail helps so I don’t forget steps and keep it all flowing.

Try melatonin! People say it's not good for you every day, but when you're changing your sleep routine it's a big help. Take it, dim the lights, turn off your phone, and it'll be a lot easier to get tired enough to sleep earlier than normal :) It helped me a lot.

Hey there Amy! Hey I have been actually trying to get out of bed earlier and as a student who commutes by bus and trolley, it can be kind of draining if I don't have anything really systematically cue-ing me in to do. So what I love doing is opening the curtains, meditating by my book case in the early sunlight and when I'm ready to get up after planning my schedule as a college student I play some music and make breakfast and prep myself for the day. I can definitely say that learning even if it's just essential phrases "hello, good morning, good day, please, thank you.." and so on in a different language can really brighten the day! Thank you so much for your videos and inspiration! Cheers.

This is an amazing video, thanks Amy.
First thing in the morning I like to work right away a little bit for my *A* task. So I dive right into the life that I want. This could be research, learning a new skill, making notes or read about a certain topic. Doing this it almost does not matter anymore how the day turns out to be retrospectively because I moved forward, even a tiny bit, and didn't let a bad day, procrastination or excuses to be in my way.
Not so long ago I found myself in a place where I felt that my life was too exhausting and demanding to be something that anyone could enjoy. One of the many gears that changed my perspective was and is to be thankful to the (also) little things in my life, and write three of them down.
    + morning coffee
    + fast internet connection
    + cuddles with my cats
+ the sea breeze at my home town
+ the nice service I received yesterday
    + ...
Of course I add here and there a 'big' thing in my life, just dont forget the small ones that I almost seem to be natural. _ Coffee is a perfect example for me. It is always around us, but it is a handpicked fruit._
Have a great day guys! 👍

It`s easy to wake up early Amy but it is hard to stay awake after reading or doing such hard work because we definitely feel tired especially if we sleep late in the night.
I wake up for my prayer in the early morning 5 am then i do my job but it`s so hard to stay awake after 2 hours of my work i feel sleepy and wake up after 3 hours.

Hi Amy! New subscriber here, and I have to say that I am LOVING your channel! You help us with so much, and I figured I'd take the time to hopefully help you out with something you mentioned that you've been struggling with recently. This is going to be a novel, but I just want to be thorough. (I swear this is meant to be helpful and not an attack)
In your video a week ago, PRODUCTIVE DAY IN THE LIFE + FIXING MY SKIN, you mentioned some dermatitis/ flaking that you'd been dealing with, along with the new BeautybyDesign skincare regimen you've been on. In the video, you showed some of the products that were given to you and (more importantly) the ingredients. On the ingredients list of one of the boxes you showed, the latter half showed organic essential oils of cerdarwood, geranium, lemon, lime, etc. These ingredients are NOT beneficial, and if you're still experiencing problems, please consider rethinking that product.
I think, even if you're not normally sensitive, all skins have the potential to be sensitized. Some people are more susceptible than others to irritation, but there are certainly things that (across the board) seem to cause inflammatory reactions in the skin. These things include fragrance, *essential oils*, *citrus*, alcohol, etc.
Citrus, like the lime and lemon found in your products, has been shown to cause photodermatitis, an eczema-like reaction to sunlight. It's important to note that inflammation is a compounding, snow-balling process, and that just because we can't *see* it happening at first doesn't mean it isn't happening, or that you won't see it later. It's also important to note that reactions can present themselves differently in certain people, so some may see acneform-like reactions, while others see straight up inflammation.
I recognize that reading ingredient labels is daunting, overwhelming, and super confusing for most people. There's actually a great website/database called Cosdna that allows you to search by product name (or individual ingredient), which pulls up the list of ingredients and determines what they are, if they're sensitizing, and if they're likely to cause clogging/acne (referred to as comedogenicity. I'd take this one with a grain of salt, as there's no ACTUAL proper way to determine if something will clog your pores). With that said, the website is a good starting point of finding a products ingredient list quickly to search for potentially harmful ingredients. I'm not affiliated with them; just throwing out some helpful resources.
I love skincare, and I'm definitely game to discuss all of these things further, or even some of my own product recommendations in the replies to this comment.
I know it's unsolicited, and I'd *never* comment on someone's skin normally, but like I said: you help us with so much, and I just wanted to return the favor (especially as you had mentioned it being a concern). I really hope this helps!
Side note: I just picked up The Life-changing Magic of Tidying and The Artist's Way based on your recommendations, and I can't wait to start reading them!

I've commented before that I've been trying to get up at 5 AM each day. Today I did, but I still felt really tired and accidentally fell back asleep for about an hour. But, maybe I needed it. Who knows. I try not to do that of course, but some days I cheat. From now on though, thanks to these ideas I'm gonna try to do even better!
My goal is to: 1. Water. 2. Write. 3. Meditate. 4 Move. 5. Paint or draw because I want to do more of that daily, being an artist, 6. The quote thing sounds cool. Might try that. 7. The Coffee Time! 8. Read.
That's gonna be my plan for now. Hopefully I actually do it tomorrow. That'd be cool. I know it probably won't change over night but hey, I can dream.
Also desert during that time? Yes please! Sugar is a great wake up ingredient... lol just jokes guys. Just jokes. Besides I get enough of it with coffee. :D

The first two things I've been doing in the mornings, after I open my shades, are hopping in the shower and drinking a tall glass of lemon water,( or lime water or orange water if I don't have lemon) and after that I feel really awake. Today I started journaling things I'm grateful for while I drink my water. If the weather is nice, I like to have my water, and later my breakfast, which I saver along with my coffee outside on my family's balcony.

I find your videos very inspiring but you are not right here. It' s a genetic condition whethter you're a morning or a night person. This ideal of being productive 24/7 and optimising ourselves all the time is something society idealises but it's neither healthy nor does it make us happy. When you need all these things to get going in the morning when you don't necessarily have to, it's better to add some more sleep because that's what you probably really need. Everybody is diffferent and it's not responsible to pretend we#re all robots programmed for the same thing.

Love this video. So many great tips and points! I’m excited to keep striving to reach my ultimate kick-ass productive morning (I’ll call it the A+ morning). Right now I’d say my mornings are sitting at a solid C+ when I am able to incorporate any one of these things, or just make time for myself in any way, where I’m not just rushing through getting ready and getting to work. I can personally account for what a difference something as simple as savoring your coffee can be. I notice such a difference in my mindset throughout the day when I’m not rushing through my coffee and/or drinking it on the go.
I also like to listen to some peaceful music or meditations during my cup of coffee (my introspective time), and then I switch to more upbeat music to get me moving. Music is a great tool for me personally in the mornings. It can really influence my mood and I’ve had some success linking certain styles of music with actions or habits, so now I can “trigger” a more productive morning simply by turning on music I associate with things I want or need to do.

Danson for Joy Please write to her as soon as possible. I started writing a letter to someone who contributed to my life as a young girl. She was so loving and I don’t think she got the love back. I wanted to tell her how much I appreciated her love and care. Unfortunately, I left the letter unfinished and she passed away.
