    1. Morning pages - Write down your thoughts first thing in the morning before you do things like email.
    2. Drink lemon water
    3. Do not disturb time - Use the do not disturb option on your phone. Amy suggests doing this in the morning to help start off your day productively, but she finds if she leaves it on the whole day she gets even more done.
    4. Calendar block planning - Do this at the beginning of the week and tweak it the morning of if necessary.
    5. Walking - Amy tries to make it to the gym 3-4 times a week and get 10,000-15,000 steps a day. One suggestion is to check emails on a treadmill.
    6. Tidying up the house - Do something small, if you see an item in a room that belongs to the one you're going to then take it there.
    7. Reading - Amy suggests reading right before bed.

      @@lisqe4 You're welcome 😊 If I'm using my phone since I like to have tips like that on hand, I like to screenshot comments like this and put them in a folder on my phone so I can find them later on easily instead of having to rewatch a 15 minute video. (And of course spending time trying to find the right video in the first place). If you're like me and watch videos like this regularly, that might help you save some more time too.

    I almost NEVER take my phone off of DND. I started doing this when I was doing school & work at the same time... I love it! I don’t like being interrupted by my phone. Like you said if it’s urgent there’s ways for people to reach me. It helps me not be distracted from unimportant texts/posts. I also turned off social media alerts so I don’t get notified. Super helpful.

    My favourite habit is writing. My alarm clock goes off at 5:40 and then I write for 12-15 minutes and have been since 2008. Got the idea from "The artist's way". Then I get dressed, make my bed, feed the cats and have a hot beverage, usually herbal tea or hot water.
    I would really like to see the new calendar blocking video. I really enjoy your videos! Have a great day and please give Lucy a cuddle for her well-earned 400 steps! That's pure girl-power!😁♥

    Cucumber or watermelon is also really good in water. Cucumber is good for inflammation (which I have with my chronic pain illness) and just a few slices can add a ton of flavor.

    Love your sass!! I'm a self-professed tornado and stuff used to be all over the house. My daily habit to keep the house tidy is the "one-touch" rule. E.g. When I opened mail in the pass, it would sit on the kitchen counter, only waiting for me to file/recycle at some other time, ha! One touch for mail means that I'm only allowed to touch it once. It either goes into my office inbox or filed and the envelop recycled, as soon as as it's opened.

    So happy to hear someone else talk about morning pages!! I've done them almost every morning for 6 years now (started when I did The Artist's Way) and don't have any idea how I dealt with life before that. I've never been great at sitting still so I consider writing to be my form of meditation :)

    Amy-YES totally, before you even said it I was thinking to myself-I would LOVE a practical HOW TO plan my week and my days. I am a new entrepreneur working for myself at home for the first time and my biggest struggle is figuring out how to lay out my schedule and be the most productive I can. When you work 9-5 you think oh my gosh I would have ALL the time in the world if I could just stay home and work on what I want to work on. And then when you have that freedom-it's crazy how quickly the days go! Thanks in advance girl, I know you will totally crush this topic!!!

I'd like to watch another calendar blocking video as I'm having trouble at making decisions right now...decision about whether I should blocking my time on my calendar as a way to 'plan my to-do-list in this week' (i found it difficult for me to really do what i planned) or 'what did i really do today/week?' after i really done them (there is no plan in my week anymore).Thanks!

    #6!!!! I too do this. I started doing a weekly goal thing and for two weeks it was picking up the living room and clearing the table (which becomes a catch all). But yes deep cleaning is horrid and having someone do it is the best use of your time.

    I have only one rule that is for real, a morning/going to bed rule that I must do: my Gratitude Journal. Everyday, I wake up and write 3 things I am grateful for, and when going to sleep I write 3 things that I am grateful about my day. :) Helped getting better when I was depressed.
    And congrats! Just got to the channel, felt in love with the first video that I watched and here I am, watching them in a row hahaha

    You've inspired me to start my day off with some water, whether it's lemon water or not. I also like the idea of quick tidying and "do not disturb". I've recently learned how much I can get done in a short amount of time if I don't have distractions.

    My morning routine is that I get up, feed the cat and have a glass of water. Then I change clothes and either do a Yoga practice (I have DVDs) or walk for between 30-40 minutes around my neighborhood. What do I do while I walk? Well now, I listen to Amy Landino’s podcasts - or the Vlog Like a Boss audiobook (again).
    Alternating my exercise practice keeps me motivated.

    I've just now stumbled on your videos and I'm not someone who spends any time at all on TH-cam because it is a time-suck.     Calendar blocking!! Yes girl! I work from home and try so hard to calendar block, but I set myself up for failure because I UNDER estimate how long certain tasks take me. It would be helpful to know how to determine how long a task will take and if you include any extra time to be conservative. Most of the time it takes me longer if technology isn’t agreeing with me that day, or I need others resources (humans) to complete said task. Love your channel! Xoxo Kayla

    The little tidying tip is good idea.
    I would love to know more about the calendar blocking. I find it very useful to have a monthly planner where the whole family writes down their activities, then we can plan something together in the free windows that occur.

    Hey, Amy. I'm been trying calendar-blocking for two weeks now, there were days that it worked perfectly and others were a mess! Any tips, suggestions? Does it really take time to get used to the system? Oh, and do you use the notifications or do you shut them off? Cus there were days that they started to drive me crazy cut I started feeling like I was rushing things. (I receive notifications 30 minutes before the event.) Thank you!!

      Carolina Aleixo receive notifications 10 mins before so it does not interrupt the task you’re doing and gives you a good 10 mins to think about the next task

    i am someone who has gone through a lot in the past year be it through physical or mental health. And I've learned that stress makes things 10 times worst.. so building routines has become a must
    so before I sleep
    1. I start in living room and I give it a 5 min tidy up
    2.I head to the kitchen prepping next day's lunch; put water and coffee in the machine without turning it on, empty dishwasher,wipe counters
    3. I go to the bathroom I do my beauty routine, then i clean sink and toilet and clean lilly's litter
    4. I head to my bedroom, prep next days clothes and bag, and tidy up my room

    YESSS. I do the multi-tasking treadmill tip, too! It helps me to answer DMs, comments, etc. I look up and realize that 3 miles have gone by. w00t! I love all your videos, Amy! Thank you so much for all of your tips. Also, since you mentioned not being able to make it to the gym all the time, I make home workout videos you can do anywhere.     I've been doing morning pages for almost a decade now. I had a teacher assistant The Artists Way as a textbook for a psychology class alongside a book called the creative habit. I highly suggest both! Life changing books.

    Great video 5 minutes with family or pets in the am is a great way to set the attitude for the day. Playing with the pets without the phone for a few minutes sets a great tone of the day to not be too serious and also releases that oxytocin in the brain.

    Would love to know more about calendar blocking. I know the general concept, but when you are trying to generate "work", then am not sure what to schedule when. Client time always takes priority.

    Such practical tips. Even though I know or should know most of these, it's always good to be reminded of what you need to prioritise in your daily schedule. Tidying up everyday is something I'm making myself try to do everyday, you can't think properly if you're surrounded by mess!
