I cast my 3DS aside when I got my Switch. Couldnt be bother to play it. Now I'm playing it again, buy new games for it. It's such a great handheld with so many great games.
I was forced to sell mine years ago to help out with a financial need but now I have one again and though I prefer physical editions where possible, I'm REALLY happy I have so many digital purchases restored including pokemon y, which unless I got it for a good discount, I have no idea why I did that but still, high fives to past me!
I’m a late adopter of the 3ds, only bought one for persona q and was seriously impressed at how good it was, have built a solid library, wish Nintendo would have added ds games on the eshop for 3ds. For me the size and it’s uniqueness keeps it relevant for me over switch, switch just feel better to carry around, and the fact this has not only a gyro, touch screen but 2 screens and 3D you don’t quite get the same experience on anything else

I was waiting for those zelda games! I've played each of them countless times and still have fun with them. The switch has breath of wild and a links awakening, and hopefully it gets a big collection of them.
The 3DS XL is the best system Nintendo has ever made. Most innovative console with features that weren't even fully explored and utilized by most games (especially Augmented Reality). I have most of the Nintendo consoles, but this one is the one I play the most. It's the only thing that I've been able to see steroscopic 3D on thanks to it being glasses free. This way, I can wear my prescription glasses that help me see better and still see the 3D. Without my glasses, things look blurry and I struggle to keep things from going double vision. The 3D feature of the 3DS actually works and is almost a miracle of modern tech. I was so disappointed that the Switch doesn't have it. That, and the tiny, flimsy controls keep me from wanting a Switch. Yes, the Switch has the best graphics card of any Nintendo, but I can play most of the games showing up on the Switch elsewhere, like my PC. I love the Kirby games on the 3DS exactly because they aren't super hard. I don't have the world's best reflexes, so the games that some people say are 'too easy' are actually more playable for me. I love Kirby and Yoshi because of their cute looks and especially because of their gameplay mechanics. Two of the most innovative and fun platformer mascots ever created. Pushmo is certainly a great platformer. It's underrated for sure. The best Mario game ever, especially on the 3DS, is Super Mario Maker. I love it because I can make my own Mario games and make the levels playable for me and my ability. I can make them as easy or hard as I like. I've got some levels that I've made for my wife, who doesn't have my vision and reflexes limitations, that are a tough challenge for her, while having other levels that I find interesting without being too hard for me. I've always loved level editors in PC games, so being able to do this with Mario is amazing! Bravely Default and its sequel are great to see as turn-based RPGs are my favorite kind of RPGs. They focus on story and strategy rather than seeing how fast you can hit buttons. Very fun games that I hope they keep making. Kid Icarus is a cool character who Nintendo really should use more, I agree. I love the Zelda games: the music, the characters, the classic story - but I always wind up getting stuck. I need to use level guides to get through them. Link Between Worlds is very cool and worth continuing to work on trying to figure out because the parts of the world that I manage to unlock are worth revisiting again and again. I also love that the Virtual Console feature makes original Zelda and its sequels easier by letting you save before trying things again that have killed Link for you in the past. The built in save function for these games isn't as handy. The 3D Classics line of games for the 3DS is great too as you get to play great games like Kirby, Xevious, etc. as well as the Sega Classics 3D series with Sonic 1 & 2, Space Harrier etc. The 3D effect works well in these games. It actually makes Xevious and the other SHUMP games that they did easier and more fun to play as it gives the game depth and helps you see that you are flying over the map. The options in the Sega 3D games are cool too like level select, Japanese or International localizations, save points (the only way I can continue to progress in many of these games - I've seen levels in these games that I've never seen at the arcades or on their original consoles), visual adjustments etc. Even the Mega Man 3D Collection is fun as it make Mega Man a bit more playable for me. I've had a love/hate relationship with Mega Man for years as the games have wonderful designs and music but way too difficult platforming. Being able to map the controls differently on the 3DS makes them a bit easier for me to make Mega Man jump and shoot at the same time which is impossible for me to execute with the original controls layout. These games weren't originally programmed for the 3DS, but the teams who worked on them sure did a good job of remastering them so that they play very well on the system.

Great list. Id also highly recommend fantasy life, tales of the abyss, heroes of ruin, ghost recon shadow wars and pokemon super mystery dungeon - all are fantastic. timeless console with timeless library in my opinion
Just bought one second hand yesterday (New 3ds XL). For JRPGs and retro JRPGs it's a dream device. Spoiler: It can play PSX games like Chrono Cross if you install homebrew on it.
3 months since this video was made and the 3DS has had a price spike. Some say it’s because of Metroid dread being announced but I think it was already ramping up before that. Great console. A amazing games.

When I was growing up I had my 3Ds with me anywhere I went and played it all day and I’m coming back to the nostalgia and preparing to but one and looking for some games for it
You're killing me with some of the name of the games haha but mostly because you didn't include one single Phoenix Wright game. Also, Fantasy Life and Ever Oasis. Those are some of my all times that weren't on the list. I have a Switch but I ADORE my 3ds, 3ds xl and "new" 3ds xl and my massive game collection. I don't have it just to have it. I play all my games and sincerely enjoy every minute of it. I think the 3ds was an amazing advancement in handhelds and the ds and 3ds game library is astounding. I'll play mine until they're all broken. I love my Switch and I realize my Switch lite is also portable and I paid more for some of my 3ds xls than I did for my Switch lite but I find it much easier to travel with a 3ds. The games are more nostalgic for me. I wish people still were on streetpass like they used to be. Such an amazing time in gaming and the beginning of connectivity in gaming. It was such a wild world..

I actually sold my switch because I just found it sitting forever, every port I wanted to play on it I could play on PC. But my 3ds, I just can't put down. So many great titles and such a unique way of playing
I’m surprised to not see pokemon sun and moon on here. I had so many good memories with it and I think it has one of the best Pokemon plots of the franchise.
Haven't played most of these but would rate WarioWare Gold somewhere between SMB 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, it's currently my favorite game. And I absolutely love DK Country Returns, I didn't even know I like platformers before I picked that up. Currently I have cleared all levels and working on getting all Kong letters and puzzle pieces, lots of replay value with these levels.
Your fav 3ds game is the same as my fav. In fact it's my fav game in the genre period. I did enjoy Ever Oasis, as it was a nice blend of 3d Zelda sprinkled with some Animal Crossing. Sure might not be a top 10, but was really well made.
I sold my galaxy edition brand new no 3DS XL back in 2018 and I just got another ruby red one with a shit ton of games in excellent condition!!! I’m so happy I got another one! It is hacked and has all kinds of games on it-all the good RPG’s for the 3DS, DS, Game Boy color, and GBA as well as the entire super Nintendo library!! Been playing Golden Sun on it because I really love that game when I had a game boy advance!
i'd highly recommend the Yo-Kai Watch series. I've only played bony spirits (which is the 2nd entry on the series) but i'm also planning on getting the other 2 left. I really enjoyed it and i think it's a must-have if you own a 3DS!

@Bejaphone Actually, I'm considering buying a 3rd one and pre-modded one as I'm sure I would break it in the process of modding it 😅 I not exactly tech savvy ..I don't trust myself..Just yesterday I attempted to transfer themes to my limited edition new 3ds xl but I ended transferring everything including my network ID. Oh well at least my limited edition has themes now..There was a video on TH-cam where the guy had custom transfer options but I didn't..He could chose what he wanted to transfer.Not sure why but I should have stopped when I saw I didn't have that option in my transfer process...
Yes!!! The 3d one wasn't as amazing as Revelations. I poured so many hours into RE Revelations. What an awesome game. Playing in bed by yourself at night, even in 2021 is still such a good time.
I used to play so many turned based games that I'm kind of sick of them but I might make an exception and try Bravery Default because it looks super cute.
I think that Fire Emblem Fates is much better than awakening, but the fact that they divided it into several games and then sold a special version takes away several points
I havnt watched the video yet but it's so cool to see people still playing the 3ds. I miss when this was the hot system to have 😌 wish the switch would adopt some of its features

My favorite game of all time is yo kai watch 3, so sad it didn't make this list. I would honestly recommend it for anyone with a 3ds especially if you like games like Pokemon its is well worth it.
So many great games - hard to narrow them down. Here are some of my favorites if anyone is still looking for games (most of these are available digitally as well, so get them while the store's still up and running): Fantasy Life Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX SMT Devil Survivor Overclocked (really, any Shin Megami Tensei) 7th Dragon III: Code VFD Xenoblade Chronicles 3D Etrian Odyssey Nexus (this is sort of a 'greatest hits' of their other titles making it a perfect first game). Alliance Alive Steamworld Heist Shantae and the Pirate's Curse Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon
I like most of these, but would add Gotta Protectors (especially if you have some couch co-op buddies) and the Etrian Odyssey series (my fav so far is IV for the overworld).
Other great games I love is ace combat Legacy +, Shovel Knight, Captain Toad, and even RE Revelations and Xenoblade and minecraft were really neat on the new consoles
Professor Layton, a game that years ago i really don't give a sh*t about, but, i decid to try, and start with Curious Village, and yes, the game that i really don't care turn one of my Top 5 game of all time and make me love Level-5
I sold all my 3DS consoles because a dude offered me a really good price for them. I was kind of regretting that decision until I started using the CITRA emulator on my PC. It works brilliantly and you can upsale the resolution to 1080p or more. Bravely Default looks like a damn WiiU game.
im shocked the best dungeon crawler series for 3ds etrian odyssey wasnt mentioned, they have many games for the console and all of them are amazingly well done, offering good levels of difficulty that you can change at any time and an unique system where you can draw the maps in the lower screen, a shame it wasnt even mentioned, im dissapointed and my day is ruined
@@tedheinrich persona q is simply not the same, etrian odyssey has a certain charm to it, something unique, persona q is not a good replacement, recomending the actual etrian oddysey games is the way to do it
I own 8 🤦♂️. 3 of the smaller New 3DS, Hyrule Edition N3DSXL, Samus Edition N3DSXL, A modded N3DSXL, Pokeball edition 2DSXL and a Transparent Red 2DS. I want to get one more smaller N3DS and have four of them modded for multiplayer games sitting around the camp fire 😜.
Probably not going to happen but it'd be awesome if they remade the popular 3DS games like Pokemon XY, Fire Emblem Awakening, Zelda Ocarina of Time etc. either on the Switch or next console.
Same I got 128gb in mine. I have 105 total 3ds games, 209 DS games,.and all retro emulators with complete rom sets, nes,snes,sega,gbc,gb,gba, and much more gems. My Vita got 512gbs and I play it more but I love the 3ds as well.
Have 2 new 3ds’s (white and black), and just decided to hack one of them and also have a R4 card on it with tons of DS games. Currently playing the heck out of it
While I appreciate alternative opinions, including BoxBoy and Pushmo in a Top 25 games on 3DS is baffling. The system wasn’t exactly starved of content, quite the opposite. Otherwise there are many absolute classics in this video. Thanks.

Great choice. Ruby and Sapphire are among my favorite pokemon games. Pokemon games tend to be expensive as they get older so its best to get them before price goes up.

I skipped the 3DS era bar the Pokemon games, however in the past week i’ve bought the Zelda games, mario games, animal crossing, ever oasis, and searching for more. Any recommendations?
Recommendations: Enjoy game hunting. Explore what you like, and enjoy what is out there. Just have fun. Loads of great 3DS/DS games out there, that you'll never have time to finish in a lifetime. Anyway, a hidden gem I enjoy is 'Clash King'! (US title different) I was lucky to find it. Part of the joy of game hunting. There are loads of DS games I'd still like to seek out, but can't find. Such is the beauty of game collecting. I recommend enjoying collecting games you enjoy.

The Switch controls are pretty lousy natively. I fixed the problem by going with a third party addons that make the buttons and sticks larger.

I can definitely say if you get into monster hunter you will never put it down. Already put over a 100 hours into monster hunter world.
Rise is going to be my first monster hunter game. Hopefully I will like it cause omni says it's a good game and he couldn't put it down.

I couldn't find a decent new 3ds but managed to get my hands on on a new sealed 2DS Mario kart pack for half it's msrp. Could not pass that up

When I was growing up I had my 3Ds with me anywhere I went and played it all day and I’m coming back to the nostalgia and preparing to but one and looking for some games for it
You're killing me with some of the name of the games haha but mostly because you didn't include one single Phoenix Wright game. Also, Fantasy Life and Ever Oasis. Those are some of my all times that weren't on the list. I have a Switch but I ADORE my 3ds, 3ds xl and "new" 3ds xl and my massive game collection. I don't have it just to have it. I play all my games and sincerely enjoy every minute of it. I think the 3ds was an amazing advancement in handhelds and the ds and 3ds game library is astounding. I'll play mine until they're all broken. I love my Switch and I realize my Switch lite is also portable and I paid more for some of my 3ds xls than I did for my Switch lite but I find it much easier to travel with a 3ds. The games are more nostalgic for me. I wish people still were on streetpass like they used to be. Such an amazing time in gaming and the beginning of connectivity in gaming. It was such a wild world..
_3ds is still one of my most favourite consoles and I'm always on the lookout for more games, sucks they're harder to find nowadays, wish Nintendo was more keen on digital downloads, can someone sell me their tales of abyss lmao_
I actually sold my switch because I just found it sitting forever, every port I wanted to play on it I could play on PC. But my 3ds, I just can't put down. So many great titles and such a unique way of playing
I’m surprised to not see pokemon sun and moon on here. I had so many good memories with it and I think it has one of the best Pokemon plots of the franchise.
It is. I have all the pokemon games in the same spot, but if i were to choose one I'd go with XY.

As someone who stepped away from pokemon for 10 years+ Sun and Moon was very disappointing to me.
The plot in SM tries to be deep and ambitious but ultimately fails to bring any sense and there are too many plot holes

Haven't played most of these but would rate WarioWare Gold somewhere between SMB 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, it's currently my favorite game. And I absolutely love DK Country Returns, I didn't even know I like platformers before I picked that up. Currently I have cleared all levels and working on getting all Kong letters and puzzle pieces, lots of replay value with these levels.
My 3DS is my favorite system. I spend the most time on it than any system.

Your fav 3ds game is the same as my fav. In fact it's my fav game in the genre period.
I did enjoy Ever Oasis, as it was a nice blend of 3d Zelda sprinkled with some Animal Crossing. Sure might not be a top 10, but was really well made.
I sold my galaxy edition brand new no 3DS XL back in 2018 and I just got another ruby red one with a shit ton of games in excellent condition!!!
I’m so happy I got another one! It is hacked and has all kinds of games on it-all the good RPG’s for the 3DS, DS, Game Boy color, and GBA as well as the entire super Nintendo library!!
Been playing Golden Sun on it because I really love that game when I had a game boy advance!
I can't believe the DS came out almost 20 years ago. I was 6 when it came out and am now almost 24

Got a 2ds xl last week. Im not reallt into consoles since you can emulate almost every game rn but 3ds is so cool and ahead of its time.
i'd highly recommend the Yo-Kai Watch series. I've only played bony spirits (which is the 2nd entry on the series) but i'm also planning on getting the other 2 left. I really enjoyed it and i think it's a must-have if you own a 3DS!

@Bejaphone Actually, I'm considering buying a 3rd one and pre-modded one as I'm sure I would break it in the process of modding it 😅 I not exactly tech savvy ..I don't trust myself..Just yesterday I attempted to transfer themes to my limited edition new 3ds xl but I ended transferring everything including my network ID.
Oh well at least my limited edition has themes now..There was a video on TH-cam where the guy had custom transfer options but I didn't..He could chose what he wanted to transfer.Not sure why but I should have stopped when I saw I didn't have that option in my transfer process...

Yes!!! The 3d one wasn't as amazing as Revelations. I poured so many hours into RE Revelations. What an awesome game. Playing in bed by yourself at night, even in 2021 is still such a good time.
I used to play so many turned based games that I'm kind of sick of them but I might make an exception and try Bravery Default because it looks super cute.

I think that Fire Emblem Fates is much better than awakening, but the fact that they divided it into several games and then sold a special version takes away several points

My favorite game of all time is yo kai watch 3, so sad it didn't make this list. I would honestly recommend it for anyone with a 3ds especially if you like games like Pokemon its is well worth it.

I like most of these, but would add Gotta Protectors (especially if you have some couch co-op buddies) and the Etrian Odyssey series (my fav so far is IV for the overworld).

Other great games I love is ace combat Legacy +, Shovel Knight, Captain Toad, and even RE Revelations and Xenoblade and minecraft were really neat on the new consoles

I sold all my 3DS consoles because a dude offered me a really good price for them. I was kind of regretting that decision until I started using the CITRA emulator on my PC. It works brilliantly and you can upsale the resolution to 1080p or more. Bravely Default looks like a damn WiiU game.
Bravely default or animal crossing happy home designer and all the zelda games on it remain my favourite 3ds games ever
issue with mario kart 7 is that it has no vs mode and the new power-ups are underwhelming but it is still an excellent game
im shocked the best dungeon crawler series for 3ds etrian odyssey wasnt mentioned, they have many games for the console and all of them are amazingly well done, offering good levels of difficulty that you can change at any time and an unique system where you can draw the maps in the lower screen, a shame it wasnt even mentioned, im dissapointed and my day is ruined

Persona q & persona q 2 are also recommended for lovers of the etrian Odyssey franchise
@@tedheinrich persona q is simply not the same, etrian odyssey has a certain charm to it, something unique, persona q is not a good replacement, recomending the actual etrian oddysey games is the way to do it
I own 8 🤦♂️. 3 of the smaller New 3DS, Hyrule Edition N3DSXL, Samus Edition N3DSXL, A modded N3DSXL, Pokeball edition 2DSXL and a Transparent Red 2DS.
I want to get one more smaller N3DS and have four of them modded for multiplayer games sitting around the camp fire 😜.
I might get a lot of hate but, in my opinion I think the 3DS is better than a Switch. I mean longer battery life and it’s more portable

honestly I regret only using my 3ds for pokémon and smash. About to download almost all these games. (I got a modded 3DS so I get them for free LUL)

Same I got 128gb in mine. I have 105 total 3ds games, 209 DS games,.and all retro emulators with complete rom sets, nes,snes,sega,gbc,gb,gba, and much more gems. My Vita got 512gbs and I play it more but I love the 3ds as well.

MegaTen IV is by far (IMHO) the best game on the 3ds. I still feel to this day that it has one of the best video game tutorials of all time.

Some 3DS games are increasing in value a lot, so for games that are too expensive you can pick up digitally. When possible I'd get physical though.

Great choice. Ruby and Sapphire are among my favorite pokemon games. Pokemon games tend to be expensive as they get older so its best to get them before price goes up.
