3:35 nah bro I didn’t know you’re Dr laiyenZ respect.
I remember streetpass meet ups back in the 2010s it was such a joy to experience streetpassing and playing all the classics
you gotta get rid of your cartoon face thing, it's so stupid.
idk why TH-camrs think they need their shitty cartoon brands. I got this video recommended to me like 8 times and never wanted to watch it.
only here to leave hate
your vid was really good though
A link between worlds deserves more praise from the community. It often falls between the cracks of other Zelda greats, but it honestly offers some of the best concepts, story, and regions in a Zelda game. Plus, it was the Zelda game that prepared us for the switch titles. Great game and great video, my friend
yeah, and people not knowing about it enough doomed triforce heroes more. as it's a direct sequel.
I honestly love it more than a link to the past. The terror tower was a really cool but they should have added a boss rush mode with more difficult versions of the bosses. They really missed a good opportunity there. Would have added so much to an already amazing game. I really enjoyed those treasure dungeons sprinkled throughout the land. And the upgraded fire rod is the absolute best weapon in any zelda game. You get to spam a giant fire hurricane that destroys everything!
My favorite zelda
Definitely hard agree; a link between worlds is by far my favorite top down zelda, it's also one of my 3 favorites.
Hahaha, between the cracks. Very nice.
Hearing you say you were in 4th grade in 2014 gave me whiplash. Everyone on the internet is younger than me now.
Yeah I was 24 about to get married lol
Rip us oldies 😭
"FOMO of missing out" 10/10 no notes
😭😭😭
Fear of missing out of missing out.
Genuinely Ocarina of Time on 3DS is the best way to play that game. There is no reason to play the N64 version unless you want to feel the nostalgia.
so true kyler360
I just finished an N64 playthrough and I'd argue the atmosphere on the N64 is better than on the 3DS. For example the 3DS version is often too bright in areas intended to be dark (like the Ganon battle)
Counterpoint, Dead Hand
But the lighting!
Eh it didn’t ruin my experience by any capacity
Only Uber nerds care about the tiny differences
3DS Zelda games are a gold mine. Remasters and new games galore. A link between worlds still remains as my most fav Zelda! Besides OoT
My top 5 Zelda games
#5 Breath of the Wild
#4 Link’s Awakening
#3 Majora’s Mask
#2 Ocarina of Time
#1 A Link Between Worlds
A Link Between Worlds is my favorite 2D Zelda (Minish Cap comes close, and Echoes of Wisdom has a strong chance of topping it), and it was my favorite Zelda game overall for a long time. I still like it more than Ocarina. The only issue is that it's so short, easy, and fun, that I played it tons of times in quick succession and bled it dry of content. Then I died about a dozen times against the final boss while doing a 5-heart, itemless, no upgrade run. Still a great game, but content is a bit limited. Definitely still somewhere in my top 5, and it should get far more praise or recognition from the community than it currently does. LBW was also a major factor in my decision to get a 3DS to begin with.
Triforce Heroes is an absolute blast if you have people to play with, and everyone I knew it middle school had a 3ds
Four Swords Adventures you need a gamecube, 4 gbas, link cables, and friends you have to play with *in person* I've never met someone else in person that had a gba
Nothing wrong with using a walkthrough. Games should be played for your enjoyment and at your pace and if a walkthrough helps your experience then go for it.
plus games used to come with things to help the player
I’m probably the only person who actually love triforce heroes. I didn’t play with any friends but with just public matchmaking. But the game was so fleshed out with the item and material system. I understand why people didn’t like it but holy crap did I love it.
Same, even before playing the actual game I was OBSESSED with the bouncing ball on the demo, finally playing it with other people was magical
Using the silly emotes truly was peak multiplayer on 3DS
Okay in your defense, using a walkthrough to get you through the game is actually smart and should be more accepted. I played OoT on an old N64, and ran back and forth between the screen and my dad, who played the game over a decade prior. I didn't have access to the internet, but I had help; and if there's help, why not use it?
I grew up with OOT 3D as well. It was not my first Zelda game but it was my first 3D Zelda. I will never forget the feeling of seeing Hyrule field for the first time. Blew my 7 year old mind lol.
I was always a Gameboy kid and loved the portable zeldas, Oot on the go was all i wanted when i was a Kid. Its nice to see that it would have been as awesome as it sounds to grow up with it
nah man, the MM bosses are one of those cases where a lot of people fall into 'different = bad'. the worms boss was more clunky but that was really more due to the have to hit it x times before it digs into the sand again.
odolwa sucked originally and was just slashslashslash. goth, mostly similar, thats why they kept it that way.
gyorg was lousy and making you do more than arrow lightning was needed to make this an engaging fight.
the eye thing is as logical as anything else, but it ties the fights together and gives them a reason to make odolwa not be a sucker for a tiny kid with a tiny sword.
Really interesting take there.
Personally am not a big fan of it but hate it as much as other people do.
As someone who grew up with Zelda in the 90s, majority of the people i knew as a kid used the official strategy guide to complete OoT and Majora’s Mask or ask their friends how to get past certain sections of the game. So your way of playing OoT 3D back then is how many kids did it back in the day. 😂
I had a blast playing Triforce Heroes with my friends and I won’t stand for any slander
I'm sure the game is really fun with other people but the fact that they had barely any support for single player is crazy. They could of at least made the other links cpus but having to switch between links is painful. Most other multiplayer games use bot characters for single player so it didn't make sense to not do that
I was twelve when Ocarina of Time first came out... I actually got stuck on Gohma. I had no idea what to do, because, y'know, even with tutorials on it (looking at the girl sitting on the shop, targeting the ladder in the slingshot room, etc.), aiming in 3D was still a completely new concept for someone who grew up playing 2D games. Video game sites like GameFAQs existed at the time, but this was before Reddit, before Google even, and the game had just come out... it would be ages before concise, reliable guides were made. So, I did what everyone did in the nineties... I went to find physical print media! 😂
The closest thing to a game store in the tiny town where I grew up (aside from Radio Shack) was the video store, which rented games... my dad took me, and while they didn't have any game guides, they DID have a few video game magazines. I think we bought a copy of Electronic Gaming Monthly or something, which contained a walkthrough for the first three dungeons. I distinctly remember that it was a little... colorful. The guide for Big Octo told you to "slap it in the ass" or something similar, which has always stuck with me.
Im not sure if you know this but there is actually a fan made patch that was made for MM 3D that makes the game more fateful to the original MM. Its called "Project restoration" and it fixes most of the issues of MM 3D. Its definitely one of the best ways to Play MM. (Great video by the way)
There's an even simpler way to fix the game's changes, get the randomizer! It comes with tons of quality of life improvements and is customizable in pretty much every aspect
@@RueLangston Yeah I have played through OOT 3D randomizer quite a bit. Its quite fun.
i have heard of this, so upset i cant run it on my mac
@@kidcrumpetz2689 Run it on your 3DS then.
i think everyone has watched that nerrel vid by now
Honestly the biggest improvement with Ocarina of Time 3D is the fact that you can skip forward through the text scroll now, I am very impatient so this helps me personally a lot
I feel it’s worth noting that four swords adventure required a GameCube, the game, four game boy advances and four link cables to play multiplayer. Far more inconvenient than triforce heroes lol
I have fond memories playing triforce heroes with my kids. Yeah, I’m a bit older than you.
My friends and I actually got four link cables to play FSA, and I've never met anyone else who actually had the true 4-player experience lol. It really was way too inconvenient.
Also, if anyone‘s adapter disconnects, you gotta restart the whole level
I'm surprised phantom hour glass hasn't gotten a remake or release yet
100% solidarity for the crew of people who played OoT with a walk through their first time playing it. I had a Gameboy and later the other Nintendo handhelds growing up, and I think either Link's Awakening or one of the Oracle titles was the first one I played. I wanted to like OoT, but honestly? That first play through was ROUGH. I had more fun when I replayed it a few years later.
I'm surprised you tried Age of Calamity first and not Definitive Edition on Switch. That game is the best Hyrule Warriors game because it adds both content from both Wii U and 3DS titles along with a nifty adventure mode.
Correction on Four Swords Adventures: While it was very easy to play the game singleplayer, you needed to connect multiple GBAs to the console to play multiplayer. So it's more like you had to use 3-5 systems to play multiplayer.

Triforce heroes was my first Zelda game I was 11 when my parents bought a 3ds and the game for Christmas was an amazing day
Ocarina isnt just an amazing Zelda game to start with, it’s a great way to get into gaming period . By virtue of it being not just the first 3d Zelda but one of the earliest 3d titles in general, it gently guides players through its first half (child form) before throwing in the gauntlet in the second half which also fits very well with the game’s over world and subtext.
It also has a very balanced mix of over world exploration, side quests, and dungeons (that are both linear and non linear) which will give all sorts of players different things to look forward to while also not overbearing players with the stuff they don’t enjoy as much.
Zelda is so awesome!! Super Channel!
woah nichslvl
3DS ocarina of time was my first Zelda experience too! Growing up my mom was a huge fan of the original Zelda and I was just at GameStop one day, saw the game, and thought I’d pick it up since it was so cheap. Funnily enough, I beat the game with a guide as well since I was in 4th grade, and immediately wanted more. I then went to Majoras mask which is my favorite game of all time (I also played the 3DS version lol) and then I got triforce heroes. I slept on 2nd Zelda for so long because I didn’t think I’d be able to enjoy the games. Long story short, I played Botw and ToTK before ever touching a 2D Zelda
My first experiences with Zelda were also on the 3DS. I played a little bit of the first Zelda on the NES, but I was still in my single digits when the 3DS came out. I grew up with OOT3D and A Link Between Worlds. They’re still some of my favorites in the franchise (with ALBW being my absolute favorite). I really should go back and replay them.
me too it was my first retro console
Man some of my best gaming memories of 3ds Zelda!
real
Ocarina of Time 3D will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first 3DS game i bought together with my late grandfather
I’m glad your first Zelda game was the best. Good to see a new fan👍
Damn imagine being 10 in 2013

The 3DS Zelda games I'd still say are my favourite entries in the series (maybe not Tri Force Hereos since none of my friends were into Zelda). This video really brought back the memories.
I enjoyed how each of them had something that the others don't. Ocarina of Time was genuinely an eye-opening moment where previous I didn't think that video games could be so elaborate and emotional. Majora's Mask has such a mood by comparison, the time limit really stressed me out but I simultaneously wanted to do all the side quests to get the Fierce Deity's mask. A Link Between Worlds is the closest thing the series has seen to perfection.
Also, I would still say that Majora's Mask 3D is a lot better than the original. The new save system, the more useful bomber's notebook and the Song of Double Time allowing you to go to any hour during the day are huge improvements. Things like the boss eyeballs or Zora swimming are more of a minor inconvinience.
Breath of the wild was my first zelda experience. I then got a 3ds last year and now thats my favourite zelda device.
my first zelda game was a link between worlds and I have such a soft spot for it ❤
Your point about four swords adventures falls a little flat when you consider that not only did you need a gamecube to play it, but you also need four gba's and four cables to connect them to the gamecube. By far, it's one of the most inaccessible games in history
Wow I think I’m in love

Being called an old head is pretty humbling ngl 😂
Me nodding along until he said 10 in 2013… oof 🤣 I got into Zelda at the same age with Phantom Hourglass
The best part about Triforce Heroes is that the story can be completed in less than an hour if you skip stages.
Glad ALBW got you more into puzzles! It's a great joy solving them and realizing you can be more clever than you think you are!
Two 40m bangers back to back? Hell yeah
I was lucky that my uncle and my cousins by association were huge nerds and extremely educated in gaming so i inherited all their consoles. They had all the good RPGS and everything and ofc multiple Zeldas
"When I was ten years old watching Game Grumps" hit a little too hard for me honestly. They helped me get through high school is the thing. I wasn't 10 but definitely in my youth.
*EDIT:* I feel kinda bad about just complaining about being old as my engagement with this video, so I'll share some candid experiences with my time with Zelda.
A core memory for me is finally beating Majora's Mask years later after I got older and calling my brother out of pure excitement to tell him.
Another core memory was me and my sister being shown a trailer for Twilight Princess and losing our minds wanting it. Then for Christmas we collaborated and merged our Christmas money from our Grand parents together to buy Twilight Princess.
We were so happy then and I like looking back on those moments.
Man, this video took me back! I had the same exact experience as a kid with OoT 3D being my first ever "proper" video game and also my first Zelda game. I was completely and utterly confused about everything, but I luckily had a friend back in 3rd grade that also had OoT 3D and he helped me with basically everything. Now I look back on OoT 3D as my favorite game of all time, because it shaped my whole perspective of games as a whole while also enlightening my childhood with its playful, exciting and beautiful world. I regularly replay OoT now and I think I know close to everything about it now, but it still has a hint of that childhood wonder it once had. The music stuck with me forever and I will always be thankful to Koji Kondo for creating the most nostalgic and my absolute favorite video game OST af all time.
I really can't describe into words what this game has done for me. I have so many incredible and dear memories of it and I will always be glad to have grown up with the 3DS and all of its games
Glad to see im not the only one who’s first introduction to the zelda franchise was the smosh rap song. I then subsequently followed that up with the free four swords adventures dsi download. No wonder why i never played zelda as a kid
Just wanna point out, that Nintendo didn’t have control how Ocarina Of Time was made, they only had control of the console and hiring Grezzo to make it. Also the changes made in the game, were all by Grezzo.
Laiyen: “The dreaded Water Temple”
Video: _shows Zora’s Fountain_
It's crazy to think that now younger generations are having similar experiences with Ocarina of Time that people back in the day also had. I first really played OoT in the early 2000s in maybe 3rd grade with my cousin's old N64. They had the really old 1.0 version of the cartridge where you could still hear the chanting in the fire temple and the Gerudo symbol was the Muslim crescent moon and star
No wait the finding Zelda trailers in TH-cam as a kid is so relatable. That’s how I got introduced to most Zelda games is by just accidentally stumbling upon them. I remember finding the first trailer for botw for the first time and being just an ecstatic
tiny goblin. The 3ds Zelda games are such underrated gems and I will die on this hill.
I can’t believe you had, quite literally, the exact same first experience into Zelda as I did. Wanted to start with Ocarina since it was so iconic and bought it in a whim. Played LBW right after, and like three months after finishing that MM3D came out. Just perfect timing for a new Zelda fan with all of those games
I just watched a captivating video with a delightful story and thought-provoking insights! I love the introspective storytelling more than traditional reviews. Sometimes, these stories can lead to subjectivity and biases. It's not my place to judge anyone, as I believe it's important to be understanding and supportive of new fans joining the Zelda fanbase.
I started off with Majora's mask way back in the 2001 with a guide book and it told me to "burn a deku stick" too, and it took me like 2 or 3 days to figure out wtf that meant. Glad I wasn't the only one lol
This year I'm starting off Zelda Month with this video. Not disappointed. :3
Happy Zelda Month everyone!
Zoomer misses out on OoT bc time is funny. Plays OoT over a decade after it comes out. Gets hooked, OoT wins again! 🎉
Oot traveling through time to turn people into die hard fans
Man, what a blast from the past! I played all of these games because the 3DS era was when my Zelda hyperfixation was really big! A Link Between Worlds was the first Zelda game I actually beat, and of course I played through Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask several times on the 3DS! This era of Zelda games will always hold a special place in my heart, and I still go back to these games regularly.
What is the BEST 3DS Zelda Game?
All of them, duh!
oot
@@Ren50ut Even Tri Force Heroes? That's bold
My first Majora’s Mask playtrough was also heavily (entirely) assisted by a TH-cam playlist 😂
How did we have similar experiences with this series. I rented OOT from GameFly in 2014 but got stuck and returned the game. But then my friend let me borrow link between worlds before majors mask released. After link between worlds I was hyper fixated on Zelda so I beat majoras mask on day one using a walk through, then got ocarina of time 3D later in 2015 and fully beat it
A link between worlds is amazing. Echoes of Wisdom is also fantastic having almost finished it. Links awakening on GBC and Minish Cap as well - sooooo good.
This is a good video given that you started the series late in Zelda life time were a lot of us were there for the OG I like this perspective. Very fresh to watch. I was there for the n64 kinda. Good video given
Whenever I got this at a very young age I was also confused and basically used a guide for literally everything
Pretty sure you could do online play with randoms in TriForce Heroes.
I really did enjoy playing it solo. It has stellar puzzle design and is such a tight experience.
This kids self awareness is amazing
15:15 this was literally me years ago when I first played Ocarina of Time 3D and I was confused that I watched SullyPwnz play it while I just followed with my 3DS 💀
TriForce Heroes was one of my favorite 3ds games i owned as a kid [second only to Kid Icarus: Uprising] and I got 100% completion with only solo play. Even though i understand that it's really not that good, I love that game so much and I'm really happy that you brought it up since most videos I've watched forget about it or dismiss it as a side game [which to be fair, it is]
Finished A Link Between Worlds right after Tears of the Kingdom and loved it so much more than on its release. I loved LBW's compact worlds and REALLY LOVED classic Zelda-like dungeons. TotK left me with a sour taste in my mouth with its lackluster dungeons and BLW made my brain work again. So good.
My first time playing OOT and MM was with a walkthrough too. No shame there, dude.
i first played OOT around 2003-2004, I had the game for years and I never became Adult Link. I remember being stuck for days on end on pretty much the first 3 Dungeons over and over lol
I had the original N64 OoT. I did not have trouble in Deku Tree. (In fact, I'm pretty sure there is something that tells you to burn the stick.) But I ran into trouble with the riddle in the second dungeon. I read the manual, and knew that the game had time mechanics. And somehow I got into my head that "seeing red" meant timing things perfectly for sunset, when the shy would be red.
It never occurred to me to bomb the eyes. And this was before I'd ever realized you could look up walkthroughs online.
You unlocked a core memory with that smosh being mentioned 😂
Tri Force Heroes is actually one of my favorite Zelda games, and yes, the singleplayer mode isn't great. The game is amazing and ridiculous to play with friends (as intended). I didn't find the first levels hard though, the worst singleplayer part was that it was slow to get through levels. Miniboss of the 3rd area (Volcano), was also not great in singleplayer.
The best way to get worth out of Tri Force Heroes would be for Nintendo to do an HD Port of A Link between Worlds and include the game alongside it.
The original Four Swords came packed in with A Link to the Past... why not put Tri Force Heroes with A Link Between Worlds??
Then everyone can get to play A Link Between Worlds, and they get a fun multiplayer game as a bonus! Everybody wins!
Your experience parallels mine. As a little autistic kid I struggled a lot with games more than my peers and spent most of my time on walkthroughs. I think the first game I ever beat after years of playing them was Pokémon mystery dungeon (the gen 5 one.) I wasn’t able to go back to play Oot until I was an adult
I'll be very honest. I enjoyed every 3ds zelda game. And maybe I just cope. But there we go.
The 3ds was a great system for catching up on all the zelda games
12:25 i can relate so incredibly much. Specifically for n64 Games ITs Just so much WHAT?!
the more i watch ur videos the more i realized we had the exact same childhood
My first 2D Zelda was the original which I almost beat in one day. I didn’t expect such an old game to be so fun. I played it on my hacked N64. Now I’m on a Zelda kick and am trying to be all the games on emulators, I just beat a link to the past and am about to start a link between worlds
the ds games will always have a special place in my heart I just wish they made more then 2 or remade them
YES! YYEESS! PEAK 3DS IS RIGHT HERE!
playing through OOT3D for the first time as an adult & new Zelda fan and having the exact same experience you did as a kid LOL. googling deku tree walkthrough at my big age was severely humbling
My first experience w/ oot was renting it and watching my neighbor play though it in its entirety. Then I never forgot and could play though by myself. It was the equivalent of of a let’s play in 1999 lmao
I really enjoyed this video. My first Zelda game was Four Swords Adventures for free on 3DS, but I think if I hadn't picked up ALBW I would not be the Zelda fan I am today. Truly such a great game. I do have Ocarina of Time and MM3 3D(have never played either) and cant wait to get to them.
Looking forward to that Majora’s Mask video.
Although Ocarina was not my first Zelda game, it is my first 3rd person game. Rented it sooooo many times from video rental stores, having to start from scratch. Recording my progress on VHS tapes to recall how to beat areas, looking up text walkthroughs with some pictures, especially since I get stuck on the most simplest....SIMPLEST of spots and then when shown what to do I'm screaming inside myself whyyyyyyy???? Then I realized how bad I really am at it. So yea having it on 3DS on portable and remade for the first time was a huuuuge deal.
Phantom Hourglass is the Goat. Toon link Saga is the best

The editing is really good for someone who’s so young (hope that doesn’t sound like an insult)
Cool video. I love Zelda especially on 3DS. They're just so good.
I love Triforce heroes and Hyrule Warriors 😭 I’m really sad we can’t play it anymore because online services are GONE NOW ;;;; It was really fun going through challenges with my brother helping me, and Triforce heroes was so much fun to play with my cousins!! It was quite chaotic to get through dungeons, and the emotes are still so cute 🥹
Before watching the video, albw is absolute peak and everyone should play it.
Also I'm pretty sure that the changes to the bosses in the 3d remake of mm actively make them harder but ok
I'm both nostalgic and absolutely BUMMED about Zelda on the 3DS.
I got Ocarina of Time and played it death (IIRC I completed it, though didn't finish Master Quest). I even had some fun with glitches and whatnot.
I'm super bummed about Tri-Force Heroes because it not only wasn't my type of game, but I had high hopes for it and literally couldn't play with other people.
I saw PBG's video on it and it looked like the funnest game in the world because I was a dumb impressionable kid. It's not objectively bad if you play alone, but I remember it being SO SLOW with the Doppel switching and material acquisition. I never had the chance to play with friends because 1. I had no friends and 2. My mom put parental controls on my 3DS and forgot the password. It's not a bad game, but I was the worst type of person to be playing it.
I didn't even know A Link Between Worlds existed at the time (it wasn't on Zelda Dungeon and PBG and Chuggaconroy didn't make videos on it) but I'd be singing a different story if I did.
I should probably pay my parents back for wasting their money.
As someone who’s first handheld was a 2ds, I am proud to say I have got past the first forest in ocarina of time 3d :3
(Don’t worry I’ve finished botw and totk and nearly la, I’m not that sad)

The 3DS era definitely is the peak of Zelda for me. I did not care for the original Ocarina or Majora, but I had a lot of fun with the remakes and currently A Link Between Worlds is my favorite topdown Zelda (we'll see if Echoes of Wisdom challenges that). I think I'm definitely one of the few who actually prefers Majora's Mask 3D to the original as well. The bosses are worse across the board, but that's the only criticism I can levy against it. I prefer the Zora swimming mechanics on the 3DS to the original, and everything else in the game is just a straight upgrade to QOL.
