This is so true. I recently have been discovering and implementing this from other TH-cam videos I’ve come across and I would say it has been the single most r and influential change to my swing I’ve made so far. I’m a mid-handicapper but am already hitting my irons in particular much more consistently and straight as a resulting of keeping my right elbow folded and in, or “snug,” in the downswing. Great content!
You continue to amaze me, Alex, with the lessons you teach and the way you explain things. I just went and tried this and hit about a half-dozen balls very well. Thank you so much for all of your insight and for your precise way of communicating it to us.
YES YES YES!!! It works. Thank you for this lesson. Love your way of explaining things. It helps me (63 year old dutch girl😉) enjoying golf again. ⚘️⚘️⚘️
Thank you Alex been following you for a few months now and learning a lot. This video was my "lightbulb" moment went down the driving range and immediately saw a big improvement with my driver so pleased. ( carrying the tray was my game changer ) many thanks
Unbelievable Drill !!!! I've been playing golf over 40 years 6 handicap. went to the range yesterday after seeing this hit 200 ballls and only pull about 8 of them it's crazy it works like a lazer!!!!!! I put alot of time into my game this helps so much thank you Alex keep up the good work!!!!
Great video! I will try this tomorrow morning. I'm a pretty good golfer most of the time, but I find myself losing the driver swing at times....then it comes back....then it goes away again. It's so frustrating. Shake hands......and hold the tray. Brilliant. Thanks.
Great lesson, Alex. I used to do this and completely forgot it lately. I will be going back to it tomorrow. BTW, what is all that "dinging" noise during the video? I was watching in full screen, and I kept thinking that I was getting a message on the other page that I had in the background.
Alex I’m a 7 handicapper but struggle immensely with ballstriking at times. I’ve been hitting toe shots for 40 years. I tried out the thought of getting the elbow at 90 at the top yesterday when I played a quick 9 after work. Best ballstriking I’ve had in years; center face and no toe shots. Used this thought with irons also, EVERY shot was laser straight and looked as if it had been shot out of a howitzer. Only a letdown in short game kept me from -3 or -4. I’m glad I ran across this lesson, thanks. BTH Harvey Penick in his “Little Red Book” also said you should have the feeling of holding a waiters platter at the top of the swing. Timeless instruction of feel vs. mechanics.
The wave and roll lesson was the best advice I've ever tried. When you're asking me for degrees in my backswing you've lost me. It's the KISS method - - Keep It Simple Stupid.
If you just keep your biceps attached to your chest throughout the swing works great for every club. Just learned that from Danny Maude. I was hitting my clubs like never before. Obviously you need to make a good pivot and that's it.
the actual answer is there are multiple ways to swing the golf club. a right hand dominate golfer should focus on a throw release, have the matching grip, matching wrist angle at the top, this is the AKA rock skipping. another way is the left arm dominate golfer. this is like slinging a frisbee. You are slinging the club whipping it like a towel, your right arm is just on it for the ride. then here is also body swing, Alot of side bend and your body rotation that is squaring the club. And there is also momentum based swing. you let gravity and weight of the club head guide the club face into the ball. All there videos on online acting like there is only 1 right way to swing the golf club. you just need the correct swing style, matching it with the correct grip and matching it with the correct wrist angle and release style to hit a great golf shot. i see bad golfers is because they are mis matching all kinds of style of swing. just because a pro is doing it that way, it doesnt mean that your swing style.
Been starting swing with rt arm tucked in but lose it after shaking hand position . I am not as flexible as some and can’t always get to the tray position only shoulder height. Have you a suggestion for check point 3 in such a case?
*always start with the right arm moving like this! Pivotal to a good controllable golf swing*

Thank you really appreciate that!
Interesting thoughts on the backswing and I will give this a go.... however please no more annoying notification noise every few seconds.
Yeah I agree 100%, the circle is enough, Im not one of Pavlov's dogs waiting for a bell to ring.

Like this 👍🏻 seems simple, time to try it 🤞🏻
Hope you enjoy

Great video Alex and I struggle a lot with keeping my right arm close to my body.
This will really help you with that
so good
Looks so easy on video putting it in to practice I struggle
Thank you 🙏🏼
Desperately need to give this a go. I have resulted in turning my club face to hit straighter bur need to have a better mechanism
Love this! Please let me know how you get on

Cam we use this for all clubs or just driver? Thanks.
Driver for me!
I'm too old and fat to get into this position... should have learned this 25 years ago.
a trip to the range for practice
Appreciate it
Is this applicable to all clubs or only driver?
Just driver for me
Best ever move
Appreciate it
Even with thé irons ?
yee
I know this is one of my swing faults but I feel so weak and restricted when I keep the trail arm more tucked in
Not looking to press it in to tight just get it folding in the backswing
@@AlexElliottGolf thanks will give it a go !

I would just work to as close to this position as you can!
give blood, hold the tray, give blood hold the tray.
Half way through this, I was thinking, "How is this different than holding the tray?" And then.......
Hold the plate at the top is genius. That position feels so good but not natural at all. Can’t wait to drill this!
Appreciate it
