You really do have a gift, your explanations are real eye openers. 1. The flatter swing is so much faster than the steep one, 2. The wrist cock,/water-skier parallel adds effortless speed. A senior.
Hey, Danny, I'm 54 and I've spent the majority of my life playing what I thought was the game of golf. Then I was about to abandon my pursuit learning and playing more golf after a painful injury I sustainable last spring. That was until the past couple of months when I started watching your videos and discovering so much that I had been missing in this sport. I've learned so much in the past few months from your technique, style and great coaching to help get faster more accurate and cleaner contact. Just in the past few weeks, I've been "snapping" the ball better on my release and working on aim and shaping my shots. I am feeling very good about the progress that I have been making from your videos and wanted to say Thank You!
The towel drill is the single best golf training aid I have ever used. Done properly, the towel drill teaches a proper windup, sequencing, footwork, extension, and helps to learn to deliver the pop at the bottom of the swing. Also a great warmup tool. After watching Liam do the towel drill and seeing the drastic change in his swing, I made one. The next step was to learn to swing what feels like out of control. It is amazing how the club just wants to naturally square up if you let it by relaxing the hands, arms, and shoulders. Trying to steer the club into positions is like applying the brakes to a freight train! Just let it go! Within a few weeks, I went from around 200 total to 230 total with what feels like less effort. I have had several drives go past 240 now, so I know there is more there. It takes time and purposeful practice, but I feel like the swing is getting faster and faster. Interesting footnote, when I play a tight hole, I tend to go back to trying to steer the ball and I only hit the ball about 200 yards. Just need to relax and let it go. You can’t steer the towel! Thank you Danny!
What I like the most is that you have not changed from the swing mechanics (philosophies) that you teach, you provide different drills to achieve the same swing. The benefits for this senior golfer are twofold; first is that it helps reinforce what I’m doing. And 2nd, it adds some fun variety to practice. Several months back after I first saw the “towel” training aid on your channel, I made my own and use it regularly. In addition to speed help, it is also is great to help loosen up. Thanks and please continue the great content.
Hey Danny. Just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your videos and your coaching style. I had to not golfed for 22 years and I have gotten back into it in the last year. I committed to only watching two TH-cam coaches and you are one of them. You have helped me immensely in my swing and game. Your consistency and how you build on each concept has been super helpful to me by not overwhelming me with too much all at once. A wish for a happy new year to you sir and again many thanks for what you do. All the best!
If I lived in the UK - I would absolutely be coming to Danny for some work on the swing. I can’t say enough good things about the way you communicate these ideas -fantastic man!!!
Melbourne time 12:50 pm. Hi Danny. Your videos are always good, but this one on driver has been revelationary. Distance and consistency, much improved. Thank you!
Oh boy I am so glad I saved this video last year. Looking a better golf swing, effortless power while aging, I just rediscovered the towel. Great tips and thanks once again! Happy New year Danny.
Since our lesson I have been paying much more attention to head position at set up and staying centred in the swing. I’m comitted to the method a d my distance and dispersion is much better with irons and hybrids. This lesson is right on the money as ever and I’m implementing it asap with the driver. Thanks Danny for all these superb lessons this year.
One swing improvement at a time...Discussed, explained, salient examples, .... The 'Do's' v.s. the Dont's' way of teaching...Simply genius... THKS from Canada, sitting in 3 ft of snow...Sorry, 1Meter of snow...
I have been using the towel drill for a couple of weeks now ( since you first introduced it). My swing is much improved . I now have a slight draw rather than a fade. Now I need to increase my speed to gain some yardage. Thanks for always explaining why we do something not just how. You are the best.
I'm hitting foam balls in my garage in the off season (South Dakota). I practiced these tips today. Really liked the contact and ease of striking the ball. Thinking about my right back pocket on my trousers facing the target also made me slow down a bit. Appreciate this! Happy New Year
I watched this video before my round today and what a difference!!!! Easily added 15-20 yards and more importantly - they all went straight!!! Thank you Danny!!
Great video Danny. Impeccable timing as always as soon as one part of my game starts going awry you have the uncanny knack of bringing a video out addressing the issues. Its easy to go back into old habits without realising. Thanks for the great content through out the year. HappyNew Year to you and your family
I’ve been learning to play for 3 years now, and your videos have been my main reference. I hope you would come down to Jakarta and open some private sessions. Thanks a lot Danny!
I usually watch golf videos and rarely pick up any helpful hints. This head movement was a great tip and I know without even swinging the club this tip will help me coil while not swaying. Thanks.
Danny, thank you, for this video. Your tip, “when going back in your back swing remember to point your right rear pocket towards the target” improved my golf stroke by at least 70 to 80%. I am approaching 70 years old and could not get consistently in striking the ball correctly. This technique help me get the correct angle when executing my backswing plus make cocking the risk more natural. Again thank you.
Excellent video Danny on how senior golfers can hit Driver easier! I like the "flared toes, right pocket back, and raised left heal" in order to create more depth in the backswing! Also your suggestion on using an aid to create more rhythm in the downswing! Well Done As Always Danny! Happy New Year!
This video really has made me think. I'm 70 this year and my drives are typically down to around 180/90yds now. A bit arthritic but I'm lucky enough to have my grandson as my playing partner. I really like the simplicity of this video and am looking forward to trying to replicate the techniques. I heard about the towel warm up, maybe 40 years ago, but never quite appreciated it. Thanks for the time and effort you put into these. In my case making it simple makes me want to try them.
Thank you for another excellent, very helpful & easy to follow video & a clear, useful practice plan.. I watched your video with Johnny Wunder about the Odyssey Ai Square To Square putters. Many golfers would be very interested about these centre shafted putters & where to position the ball. When they are available I definitely want to give them a try.
Thanks Danny! Really did not (and had not been taught)about that slight head turn to increase one's flexibility in the turn. I'll give it a go at my next trip to the range! Hope you had a Happy Christmas and are going to have a wonderful new year!
Great video, I was sort of coming to similar conclusions but now you have given me 4 ways to improve without trying to smash the ball. Cant wait to give this a go. Greetings from Honduras
Really like those tips to unlocking the swing. As an almost 51yo who is relatively new to the game, these points are priceless. Just getting back home after three weeks away, and this will be my focus…. After unpacking, of course.
Hi Danny, You are a master at demonstrating the physics of the golf swing with the simple props you use. Even when you're swing a towel you can hit the ball 🙂 Have a Happy New Year Danny, regards to all your crew that give us valuable golfing tuition week in week out. Appreciate your quality content.
Great video Danny! I'll be working on this at the range later today as well as the hammer and nail technique you shared earlier in the week. Happy New Year!
Danny, I found an old towel (about 4 feet long) and wrapped it with electrical tape (similar to yours). Love this, and wish I had this tool along time ago. If anything, I believe it will help me fine tune my tempo and remind me to finish my (71 yr old) swing.
You really have a gift in explaining things in such an easy relatable way. Thanks for another excellent video, hope you had a great holiday and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Hi Danny. A really splendid instruction. Could you show more about the boat/waterskier? How to get the hands to the left front pocket before slinging the boat around the corner? Would be very much appreciated.
Hello Danny - I have gotten very confused with instructors telling me I need to be more upright in the swing, yet here you seem to suggest that we need to go around the body more - certainly your ideas make sure sense to me since my physique is one from years spent lifting heavy in the gym, so the natural width of my shoulders is more suited to the move you suggest! I will try putting it (along with HackMotion) into practice on the range 11:33 during the winter off-season here in Suffolk!
Your effortless swing simply amazes me. I'm 65 and stand 5'-8" and this past summer my driving distance was all over the place from 250 to 320 yards (the 300 yarders were rare). Based on this video over the winter I'm going to put into practice what you taught in this video and will let you know how well I can follow your amazing lead. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
long time watcher, first time poster! thank you for all the lessons! i've been working on consistency (for years lol) and it's so difficult. the way you smash your driver (effortlessly) is so crazy to me. would you be willing to share your driver loft? i will admit that i don't think i'll ever hit as far as you, but maybe this is something i can tweak to get a few more yards!

I'm a big guy- 56 years old, over 6ft and not weak, but my inability to hit a golf ball over 200 yards is the worst part of my game. It isn't strength- I know it isn't. It's mechanics and tempo, but knowing this hasn't made it better for me. I just watched this video and can't wait to try it out at the range. Once again, it's a teacher explaining concepts simply to students. Bryson can make all the videos he wants of his 400 yard plus drives. Danny speaks to the rest of us.
Danny ive kept up with the towel swing.I warm up before around and helps me think of wring free.Plus the water draining from ear..Has helped also..Love each lesson looking forward to 2025
Another wonderful video Danny. I am turning 70 next week, I still hit it around 250-260, but this video is going to give me another 15+ yards. Thanks for a doozie of a lesson here. You're a great Coach, thanks for all you do for us.
Just returned to golf after a 20yr sabbatical 😮 and just found your channel. Wow … I struggled to ever hit below 110 before … 3rd round and hit 101. At 53, rotating is not what it was but the towel exercise is a game changer. 🤞for below 100 this year.
Danny: Great tip(s). Once again, I can’t help but notice that ‘Straight Vertical Line’ behind you in the form of that Blue Wall/Black Wall. Fantastic Reference Point. Happy New Year Coach! 🎉
For me danny maude is the and I mean the natural golf instructors outhere he's not here to promote himself like others are but genuinely wants players to get better.i just want to thank you danny my game has improved massively im 53 and love watching your content have a great 2025 ♥️👍
I used to think Danny was a top 10 coach on YT. I couldn't be more wrong. He's top 1. I'm about to head to the range before a round today and going to try some of these feels to see how it goes. It's so simple. Why overcomplicate it! Thanks!
Senior golfer here. I just picked up The Inner Game of Golf and I can see why you like it. Your technique tips and free flowing swing combine well with its awareness experience learning concept. Also, I notice that in an early chapter, he is golfing with a couple that lives right by your club. Nice coincidence. Cheers. Looking forward to some good golfing in 2025!
Great video, Danny, happy new year!!! I used the feeling "turn and get right back pocket aim target" and that did get me swing long straight driver and even my constant slice got fixed!!! So happy!!! One question, can i use the same theory "pocket, and pour water from ear" onto my hybrid/Fairway woods and irons? Appreciate it!
Another great lesson. At one point I had conceded that I was only good for 200 yds. Worked it up to 220-240. I'm thinking I can get more. Thanks Danny. You da man!
@paulchristie9170 I'm 63. I played a lot late 90s into early 2000s. Took over 17 years off. Started playing again just to become active get some form of exercise. This encouraged me to start working out in an effort to gain some strength and flexibility. That along with great lessons from Sir Danny have gotten me some distance I never thought I'd ever see again. Just bought a new driver too. Senior flex shift adds more distance for us old guys with slow swing speed.
@@mikemassel1392 thanks. Several months ago I had a driver fitting done. At the time I was playing a regular flex, 10.5 loft driver. I was launching to high with too low spin. It was suggest to get a senior flex and lower loft driver - done both. Picked up an adjustable 9 deg loft with a 50 g 50 A senior flex. My shotscope picked up stats of distances 140-170 Going to workout with the Danny towel exercise and likely spent some time in the gym over the winter. 😀 thx for ur feedback Before I forget, as my height is 5’7” I’m considering trimming my driver shaft to 44 1/2 inches from its current 45 inch length, for better control. Cheers
Another senior golfer here, thanks for the information! I believe my skier is directly behind my boat the entire swing 😆 I do have another question, why do you setup and the club is not at the ball? Right before you swing you push it out to the ball. I’ve seen many times by the pros but never heard or understood way?
Hey Danny, belated Christmas greetings to you, Laura, your children, and your father. I hope you had a wonderful and blessed day. Also, continued success to the master teacher as we turn the page on another year. Cheers mate!
Danny, Thanks to your videos, the carry with my driver has increased from 196 yard to 240 yards. The ball flight has changed from slice to a small draw or a safe fade. What I am most happy about is that these improvements remain constant. Danny, please can you tell me what are the dimensions of your bath towel? So I can improve my ball striking.
Nothing beats a Saturday morning watching Danny hit a ball further with a towel than my successful driver shots 😂
🤣 funny
Same here, especially after trying out an indoor golf simulator for the first time yesterday.

Excellent video Danny. I like the speedboat/skier analogy.
Glad you enjoyed it, love to hear how you get on
Great video lesson!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it Maurice
Another wonderful video Danny. I am turning 70 next week, I still hit it around 250-260, but this video is going to give me another 15+ yards. Thanks for a doozie of a lesson here. You're a great Coach, thanks for all you do for us.
Happy birthday! Wishing you a great 2025
Great video Danny !!!
Thanks so much Danny
Just in time, Danny, medal tomorrow and I’m totally buying in to that lesson 👍
You got this! Love to hear how it goes
Just returned to golf after a 20yr sabbatical 😮 and just found your channel. Wow … I struggled to ever hit below 110 before … 3rd round and hit 101.
At 53, rotating is not what it was but the towel exercise is a game changer.
🤞for below 100 this year.
Great video Danny
Top man
Thank you David !
Danny: Great tip(s). Once again, I can’t help but notice that ‘Straight Vertical Line’ behind you in the form of that Blue Wall/Black Wall. Fantastic Reference Point. Happy New Year Coach! 🎉
@DonaldAronson-q6k thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year 👍🏻
For me danny maude is the and I mean the natural golf instructors outhere he's not here to promote himself like others are but genuinely wants players to get better.i just want to thank you danny my game has improved massively im 53 and love watching your content have a great 2025 ♥️👍
Very kind thank you for the support Ian 😁
I used to think Danny was a top 10 coach on YT. I couldn't be more wrong.
He's top 1.
I'm about to head to the range before a round today and going to try some of these feels to see how it goes. It's so simple. Why overcomplicate it! Thanks!
Thank you so much for the kind words
Brilliant danny thanks
Happy to help andrew
Senior golfer here. I just picked up The Inner Game of Golf and I can see why you like it. Your technique tips and free flowing swing combine well with its awareness experience learning concept. Also, I notice that in an early chapter, he is golfing with a couple that lives right by your club. Nice coincidence.
Cheers. Looking forward to some good golfing in 2025!
I know, it’s incredible isn’t it?? Such a coincidence
It's great to see a swing where the hands never go above the head, and still produce great power! Thanks, Danny!
Good stuff for all golfers
Thank you Gary
To the point. Thank you 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Terry Cork
Great help for us old guys Danny
Hoping it will help everyone 😁
Another great lesson. At one point I had conceded that I was only good for 200 yds. Worked it up to 220-240. I'm thinking I can get more. Thanks Danny. You da man!
I’m 66 have a pretty swing. My swing speed is mid 80s and 160-170 yds. I need more distance
Thank you Mike!
My shotscope picked up stats of distances 140-170
Going to workout with the Danny towel exercise and likely spent some time in the gym over the winter. 😀 thx for ur feedback
Before I forget, as my height is 5’7” I’m considering trimming my driver shaft to 44 1/2 inches from its current 45 inch length, for better control. Cheers
Great video as always! Should you flare your foot out for all clubs? If not, which exact clubs?
It really helps mobility so I would say yes
The head move I've been using as swing trigger - good for Jack, good for me. Great lesson!
Thank you 😁
Another senior golfer here, thanks for the information! I believe my skier is directly behind my boat the entire swing 😆 I do have another question, why do you setup and the club is not at the ball? Right before you swing you push it out to the ball. I’ve seen many times by the pros but never heard or understood way?
Great video. Great KISS approach. How can this work with the irons? Thx again Danny. Golfing in California
Brilliant Danny
You make it look so simple
I will certainly be trying this in the future
Lol r&g x
Love to hear how it goes Richard
Just a quick question
What club head speed do you get extra
If any at all
Lol r&g x
Thanks Danny. Good solid advice. Do you do anything different if you are hitting an iron.
Hey Danny, belated Christmas greetings to you, Laura, your children, and your father. I hope you had a wonderful and blessed day.
Also, continued success to the master teacher as we turn the page on another year. Cheers mate!
Thank you Brian! Appreciate the support 😁
That’s amazing thank you
This video is perfect🎉
@dwalk13live thank you so much 👍🏻
