Here is why train running in india or being manufactured needs to be air conditioned
AC Express trains are fully air-conditioned Superfast Express trains linking major cities in India. They have high priority and are among the fastest trains in India. Though some trains travel at 130 km/h at some sections, most of them are restricted to a speed of 110 km/h.

@@navnathsurvase3490 All Indian youth want luxury no work government babu saheb jobs even if most have no merit and barely cross an IQ of 100. Youth need to change the mindset that the government will provide jobs, the private sector is actively recruiting from all sectors and even manufacturing jobs are looked down upon as some sort of labour work even if it pays well. I'll give you an example from my own family. I have 2 cousins from very different backgrounds. One studied from a really good college BBA and didn't land a job in any company, he received an offer but only 15k/month and his ego did not allow him to join. Now he is 24 and unemployed and trying every year for IBPS and Police jobs but he has no merit and he can't crack it. Another cousin he was from poor background he only did vocational course of electrical work and got immediately employed by a solar farm here in Bengal and he gets paid 23k now after 1 year. He's only 22 btw. Indian society stigmatizes education a lot and receiving a good higher education puts a pressure on student if he goes for any other field/skilled labour work. Anyone is getting degree nowadays but have no merit or knowledge in that field to get employed. For these people India needs to promote skilled vocational courses so they can be employed as good skilled labour. The government should bar higher education courses to only people who have merit and this issue would be easily solved

An argument from the perspective of daily passengers. There are people who travel via trains for work daily and as far as 100kms, they earn around 25k-30k pm, what would happen to their lifestyle. Right now the cheapest ticket for a 100km you can buy for ₹50, but for AC it will be atleast ₹200 for the same distance. So, if a person is spending ₹3000 for 30 days travel, he will have to spend more than ₹10,000 per month, even if I take into consideration a monthly rail pass.
Your intention is right, even I think AC coaches will bring improvement in railways as well as in society, but we just can't ignore the fact that there's still a lorge number of people who simply can't afford AC. For you AC might not be a luxury anymore, but I'm sure that for more than 50% Indians, AC is still a luxury.

I believe Railway was working on something called AC general class. It's fare was supposed to be similar to a non AC bus. Normal AC chairs have higher base price due to price of "feel good factor" as railway calls it, plus reservation charge of 40 rs, superfast charge of 40 rs and then higher tax. The base price could be reduced because of lack of feel good thing like in metro, reservation charge could be removed due to general, superfast charge could be reduced to normal express train so overall tax will also reduce. Overall, 200 rs ticket could be brought to around 80 rs if planned seriously. And if railway goes for non fare revenue like advertisement and all, then prices could be further reduced..... Just like in Kolkata north south metro fare is half to one third than any metro in the country, lot of passenger and non fare revenue.

Manufacture in such a large scale that it completely negates the initial cost of production, when all coaches are AC then the price will come down as supply is higher. As India slowly heats up year and year, AC will shift from a luxury to a necessity. Most consumer ACS are now the price of a single paycheck and bulk purchase+production will definitely bring the costs down

Maitree Express used to be cheapest way of traveling between KOAA - DHCA at ₹384 now after becoming fully AC The lowest ticket price is ₹1400. As a student, the price of the ticket was so high back then I wouldn't have been able to take the trains.and would have to take a bus or other means to travel.
I would also like to see more ac trains but fares have to be rational else railways will loose revenue and people will shift to other modes.

Non AC coaches do not earn revenue for IR. Infact, they are extremely loss making. It is the AC coaches who not only have the demand but also earn some money for IR. Eliminating non AC coaches is only going to increase revenue.

    A question for #askPT
Should the name be changed from Chair Car to Economy Chair and Executive Car to Business Class
Calling one type of coach as Chair Car and other as Executive Car/Class is, in my opinion, wrong, because both of these coaches have chairs. It would have been right when Chair Car were being used in the same rake as of Sleeper Car/Class, because then it used to show the seating type. But nowadays, CC and EC both have chairs.

Non-Ac coaches ke wajah se train ki speed pe bhi limitations aati hain. Jahan tak baat price ki hai, toh dheere dheere India ke average citizen ki income badhne hi waali hai. Toh agar hum new non-ac coaches banana band kar dein, aur over a decade non-ac coaches ko phase out kar dein toh ye best rahega. Jo bahut hi gareeb hain unke liye koi dedicated non-ac sasti train bana sakte hain for some 10-15 years jab tak ki vo transition na kar lein. Baaki saare trains mein speedily phase non-ac coaches ko phase out kar dena chahiye.

Families ke liye fares problem ho skta h, eg. It will be ~12k for a family of 4 for Go and Back journey on Delhi - Patna.
20k kamane wala family sayad na hi jaye AC se, lekin 30k wale ko push kiya ja skta h ac try krne ko.
Plans can be made to convert the "preferring sleeper due to cost" to "try ac once" people. But those "needing sleeper/general fare" should have sleeper, yes i think production can be stopped, and sleeper numbers reduced but don't zero it on routes like to and from Bihar. Mai bihar se hu, kaafi log jo afford kr skte h 3AC wo bhi paisa bachane ke liye sleeper lete h, thoda motivate/push kiya ja skta h indirectly sleeper coaches kam krke.

Our railway line Density is far lesser then Germany or France. Our trains and service quality is extremely lesser then european and even the Chinese. Chinese railways is also government owned like indian railways and despite chinese being richer then indian they pay quite low amount of fares for even bullet trains. India need to start competing with countries above us to improve. The indirect economic benefits of low railway fares shouldn't be ignore for short sighted railway profits. And yes government should provide better service without increasing fares or even decrease it while getting profits from freights via DFCs

    • @rajshah7734
      @rajshah7734 ปีที่แล้ว +5

That's not how things work, brother. If service quality improve along with railway speed, then prices have to go up because all that requires somewhat investment too. Just because Railways is owned by government, it doesn't mean it has to be non-profit organization.
If Railways want private companies to operate railway lines and in return get investment from them in manufacturing high quality and high speed trains then it needs to increase prices.

As India 's population is huge and increasing rapidly, already burdened railway system will be burdened even more in future. Few topics of discussion are
    1) Can we increase the length of loupe line (almost double) across the country? So number coaches can be increased from maximum 24 to 46 as we have to add other loco as well.
    2) Can we use double decker Coaches for all trains including sleeper version as well to accommodate more number of passengers
3)Another set of lines (one more up and down track) for high traffic zones for passenger service (other than dedicated freight lines) (I know will be too costly for land acquisition and construction)
    4) upgradation of all Tracks for semi highsepeed purpose where average speed can be 120 to 150 and maximum speed can reach up to 220 to 230 kmph
    4) most of trains should be train sets like vande bharat and fully AC so acceleration and deceleration makes difference in average speed and due to fully ac, air drag can be minimised.
5)And last fencing, most difficult task I think in view of construction of multiple underpasses, over bridges and walkways, animal passes etc plus indian public mentality.

If Metro trains can provide AC to commuters so can Indian Railways if they do things the right. Non-AC Coaches are a big hurdle in the speed of the trains. The can replace them with AC General Coaches instead.
Our cars give less mileage if you drive with windows open than with AC. I don't know how true the same is in the case of trains.
But the issue of people travelling without ticket needs to be fixed. IR should make general coach free for all and earn the difference from AC coaches if it really wants to help the people with low income.
