That is an unacceptable security violation.” In another post, Musk said, “It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy! Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river.”

I dont know if I missed this in your video or in the comments, or in the WDC. But I updated to the IOS 18 Developer Beta and noticed something that I have been wishing Apple would do for 15 years. It has been around since the nokia 3310, but not on iPhone. You can now dial a number like you can on android. You can use the letters on the dial pad like the old T9 Dialer feature that almost all phones still use. So for example, to phone TONY, you can just hit the keys 8669 and it searches your contacts for combinations of those letters on the keys. Freaking finally. To me who uses my phone as a phone to make actual phone calls a hundred times a day, this is a game changer. Rather late than never.
Probably designed by someone who ever saw the way LG phones used to display notifications on an always-on display. A very similar screen border looks like that on my LG V60, which came out in 2020. Unfortunately LG stopped making phones after that
my favorite non AI stuff, is definitely the iPhone mirroring in the Mac, as I work with Mac, its super helpful to be able not to be reaching for the phone all the time, before, you could pickup calls and not much more, but now, I can answer my WhatsApp, checking instagram DM, and much more while I keep my hands on the Mac, I absolutely love it, and I think the lock apps in iPad is a great addition, to handle a kid your iPad and, as in my case, not having the kid lower the volume, open TH-cam and start watching car videos without you noticing, I absolutely love this event, maybe even more than the "we reveal the new device" events. And I'm glad to see all the things I paused the keynote to tell my wife "THIS IS AWESOME" is the same things as you highlighted :)

I wonder how high level the math gets on the calculator. Like will it just do basic calculation or will it simplify equations or maybe even do derivatives, limits, and integrals.

Probably a good thing in the long run. Think of the amount of time it’s taken humanity to manually compute equations. It’s not necessarily the working out of an equation that’s truly important. The presentation exceeded my expectations. Icon customization on the iPhone, a calculator app on the iPad, and window snapping on the Mac are basic and long-awaited features. I hope that the cooperation between each device will become smoother and that Apple Intelligence will develop in the right direction.
Every time I see Apple updates, it's clear : Google needs to advertise BETTER
The people chose apple, advertisement will not change this any way, limitation is the only weapon in this battle and most are average consumers so many will never even budge. Apple still has work to do but 18 will nurse wounds for a bit. It's great for tech as well
@@TheMrreese24 Did you hear what Elon musk said about Apple intelligence Earlier, Elon Musk expressed his concerns with this deal and even threated Tim Cook over it. In a post, he wrote, “If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation.”
In another post, Musk said, “It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy! Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river.”
Couldn't agree more. I’m always surprised, and not in a good way, when I wake up to find my Pixel or Gmail or whatever now has new features, or completely works differently … or no longer exists. I know this doesn’t work, because my less tech savvy relatives on Google products never realize these features exist or become confused and angry.
fr. it's so sad so many other companies are actually innovative and are advancing the science and tech field, only for a dumb copy cat cash grab company like apple to come and steal all their efforts. apple is able to do this because they've studied human psychology very well. they know exactly how dumb the average mainstream audience is and how they can take advantage of it

The Siri animation around the screen is cool looking, who ever came up with it, great work.

I mean I think they said that you have all the functions from the scientific calculator on it. Would be cool if an app could extend the features of Math Notes for more advanced usecases..
I hope it will have similar capabilities to wolfram alpha. I don't see why it can't since the text recognition is the hard part and they seem to have nailed that already.
They did demo using a log function. I have a feeling it will be along the same level as a high school scientific, but probably not have the capabilities some people use daily.
People already been testing it and I can let you tell you for sure that it can't do anything that wolfram alpha can do. I pretty much just basic math equations and it can't even recognize a theta sign. Expect to just be using it for basic math and not much more than that.
