    How has that open motor held up after 4 yrs? I would assume it wouldve gotten clogged with metal dust real fast

      Still working like a champ ! But I do blast compressed air inside to clean it up from time to time.

    i know you probably wont see this, but did you use seamless telescoping square tubing? if so where did you get it?

      I did not use seamless telescopic square tube I was able to grind away the weld seam but I believe you can find some telescopic tube at online metal.com or on mcmaster carr but if you want to remove the weld from your square tube I recommend you the video from Fireball Tool on that subject!

      You should go with a 2 hp motor or more if you don't want to stall the belt. Good luck with your build !

    Good job! My only worry long term is the solid wire you used for the electrical. With the constant moving around of the wire being plugged in unplugged and the vibration of the sander, the solid wire eventually will harden and break. You’re much better off with stranded wire.

    Hello sir, I have been about to buy these plans. Can you please tell me a good option for a pulley that can be bought, without making a wooden one with a lathe? My problem is I have no lathe to use to make the pulley.

    You are to be commended for providing FREE plans unlike some many other who post their work do not provide. Having said that I wonder why so many who post their work post do so with some of the worst welding/welds?

      It's an old water pump motor, single-phase, 1,5 Hp motor on 110/220v

      @@KOPOprojects right on, I actually scored a treadmill yesterday,looks like i can build pretty much the whole thing shy of wheels and bearings from the treadmill, and well the wheels will be poured aluminum and i might have enough random bearings laying around if not skateboard bearings are cheap.

    Great efficiency! If your on switch clamp was stored clamped to the handle, you would always be ready to cut, not looking for a clamp (like i did)… Keep posting!
