Same. I'm guessing the update messed up the PS3 so we are forced to buy the newer models. Well, I just plan to use the PS3 for Blu-ray disc playback. For gaming, I will stick with PC & for Blu-ray movies, will probably just get the Xbox X.
You saved my life. My PS3 worked on every tv except my main one and I couldn't get it to work. I knew the PS3 itself wasn't broken and was praying this video would help thank goodness it did 🙏🏼

I held it for both beeps and theres still no picture, i tried hooking my laptop up to my tv with the same HDMI cable and it worked fine.

What a waste to use it as a "Netflix machine".
It worked! I turned the system off, held the power button till I heard another sound. I chose to still connect using HDMI. It worked like magic!

so I have a 4-year old ps3 which just started having problems a couple months ago, it froze occasionally, then the fan started being really loud, and since the last 2 weeks it stopped showing images for several seconds until yesterday night it finally stopped showing any images nor audio. I tried this steps but did not work, what should I do?

Sigh... this didn't work, I've tried connecting it to two different tvs using the AV composite cable, did the visual settings reset... and still no goddamn image. Frustrating.

My PS3 was not reading the HDMI for the TV, the screen on the TV just flashed black and white. When I reset it using this method it started working right away. Thank you!
Awesome. I bought a couple of consoles for €5 - €10 including PS3 Super Slim but only had audio and no video even after cleaning. Put it away until today to test again and found out just resetting display settings did the trick😂

It happened to me after last update too. I've tried the fix everybody says, and still DOESN'T WORK. Please tell me how did you fix it, friends :-(

If STILL not working, here is how i fixed it.
1) Take your HDD of. (search google)
2) Plug it to your pc like normal HDD (or use sata to usb adapter)
3) Go to disk management and find PS3 HDD
4) Format it to NTFS
5) Plug it back to your PS3 and power it up.
6) After few secs there should be some text on screen that tells you to format HDD.
7) Got through the setup and PS3 should work.

Try to keep your ps3 powered ON, then if still no picture, turn your ps3 off to standby mode then leave it there for about 10 to 15 mins until the console is a bit warm or hot, Then try to hold up the ON button until you hear the 2nd beep. Once hear it it will show pic. When there is no 2nd beep, try it all over again. Eventually it will show picture.
Does anyone how to fix this (I hold the power button for a bit then the second beep happens I let go and thers a black screen and that is it )

You know, I had a 360 for over five years. Never had any problems until I punched it so hard the disc tray jammed for good.
I get a PS3, and within three months it gets random HDMI failure.

This happened to my Playstation 3 3 or 4 years ago I just gave up on it and bought a PS4 but was digging in my old stuff and found my PS3 today and I actually just fixed it I'm so excited to play some old games

My old VCR has a yellow video and a white audio outlet but no red outlet, does that mean that I can't use the VCR?
What if I just have hdmi but not the AV cable do I need both ? in order for the picture to show up
