Dood, it's my kid's birthday tomorrow and I couldn't afford a new PS3 so I bought one second-hand from a retailer.... I get it home, plug it in and it doesn't show up on the TV.... arghhhhh.... his birthday is tomorrow and it's already 7pm so he was gonna wake up with NO PS3....

My PS3 is just like yours. In HDMI it won’t show up and it just messes up showing these white things and freeze like yours did with HDMI, but when I bought Av Component cable, it now just says no signal, now I don’t know what to do

It’s not the cable unfortunately, it’s called “The yellow light of death” they say it’s the heat sinks it’s either overheating or the graphics card needs new thermal paste, thermal paste can come off of the plate and cause this problem.

My PS3 was doing the same thing. I blasted air with my air compressor and a lot of dust came out. After that is working like a brand-new. If you don't have and air compressor you can take it to your local mechanic and ask to borrow their air chuck.

Hold down Till turns off.(make sure the HDMI cable is in & av out)
Turn back on, should say an available HDMI cable is detected, select yes. It should work.
