Every Marine will get a little salty about it, they won't cry they'll probs just correct you, I mean most do this training just to be called a Royal Marine
GeekAwesomized Yep I remember my Unit working in a Barracks in Northern Ireland and 42 Commando were the resident Unit when we went into get cleaned up they had signed up the Toilets as “Heads”. At the end of the week their CO went apeshit as one of our lads had drawn portholes round the windows. Fuckin nobbers we were at least 20 miles from the nearest shoreline let alone ship at sea 🤪
Some folks on here need to chill out and take this for what it was. A civilian who asked himself if he was able to do the fitness regimes of the RMs. And he was.. Doesn't matter if he called them 'Army' ffs he was showing huge respect for the individuals. That a man of peace (and he has that right) can show respect for warfighters shows he has a far more open mind than some of the shills wagging gums on here.
I agree with you partially, but these guys have worked hard for the title and service they chose which is why it's a big deal. Having said that, they would probably laugh the army thing off. In regards to him holding his own- the marine recruits have to do all there exercise on the assault course wearing kit and weapon so it is a different ball game to just doing it in boots.
Captain Morgan - Well first off I have 15 years of military service including going to war ('70 to '85) in the RAF so I know my Navy from my Army. I was also in NO way being disrespectful or nonsupporting having served with RMs and enjoyed some filthy banter so I am not sure why you make that statement. Possibly unlike civilian experts those in the military tend to know what is important and what isn't. A civvie testing himself against RMs and inadvertently calling them 'Army' will merely have raised a smile and a slap on the back for his doing well. And yes I do know what a Regiment is as well as the RAF have one. Its called The RAF regiment. I did a year in it (yes I volunteered). For your information the RMs are actually the amphibious light infantry of the Royal Navy having been formed in 1664 as part of the 'English Army'. Even today it is formed up in Army formations (eg '3 commando Brigade') and their ranks are Army nomenclature not Navy - Oops! Oh and by the way you show your own ignorance by calling RMs 'Special Forces'. They aren't - they are Royal Marines ... Period. In the UK Armed Forces the SAS and SBS are our 'Special Forces' and no one else although there is a support Group for the SBS within the RMs. And as it happens the RMs are also 'Armed Forces'. We all were / are - All three branches are what we call our 'Armed Forces'. Sounds like you need to bone up on your own lack of knowledge of UK military terminology. Just saying like. .
Bob Smith that was purely entertainment, I had a mate who was in what the rest of the corps called Hollywood troop, they also missed a lot and played a huge amount of a few people being stupid
My Family and myself would like to Thank The Royal Marines Commando's for their service. Respect to you Seb and the two Brothers who went through it all with you. You could see you enjoyed it. ATB Reeco
XxX68XxX XxX68XxX It’s called fighting another willing participant of the same size & skill as you. At the end of the fight you both shake hands & get to go home to your family. In war, you’re there to kill another man who may just be there to protect his loved ones & his land, as well as whoever gets in the way, including innocent people. Muhammad Ali was the same way. He went to jail for refusing to fight in Vietnam. Use your brain.
Different fitness. Every credit for Seb for putting himself in this environment. Royal Marines Commandos (part of the Navy) are special, and Seb is a good guy, good luck in the ring.
Good effort. Now try it with the kit on soaking wet through in mud and after being beasted for 8 months with extreme sleep deficiency. That’s the real test plus 4, 9, 30 mile runs with the kit and 6.5miles through mud and tunnels plus much more to numerous to mention. Good potential tho.
Spoiler Alert: Yeah we know he said 'Army' when he should have said Royal Marines/Navy. Every other comment below has said the same thing. Please spare us your 'superior' knowledge.
Well done to you - ex army myself - i thought why run around, when you can drive around, so became an army driver, worked well for me, when it rains you get wet, me i put on the window wipers, when it gets cold, on comes the heater, so why freeze, get wet or walk and run. Be the best ARMY DRIVER all the way.
One of the things that cannot be mimicked is the sleep deprivation, the away from home, the pressure of failure, the many other tiny details of military training. Fair play though!
Good work but the test that he passed where at recruit level. When you have to pass your Commando cse. You have to do all that with your fighting order and rifle. 32llb of kit. So when you do the 200 mtr Fireman’s carry. Just the kit between you and the guy you are carrying weighs 64llb then the weight of the guy you are carrying. It’s something you will never forget. Did mine back in 1991. Well done to him for going down there. Fit lad.
I think seb did pretty good. These guys were recruit training and there skills were high, quite impressive. If i was Seb i would acknowledge that i could be fitter especially as he is a gladiator of the ring. Army PT is a different world as you are not allowed to quit , have an off day or slow down .. respect to em all :)
I noticed that the all time record record for completing the assault course is held by Cpl Gorman of the PT Staff in 2 minutes 43 seconds. If any CTCRM staff are watching this I'd be interested to know what the recruit record is.
More civvy's need a taste like this to appreciate what real troops have to endure for months on end.. Some things are taken for granted. The troops on the frontline often forgotten.
Now this is what I love to do! Just a shame that I fucked up my back training with a 60lbs Bergen! But when I’m better I’ll smash the running again! 💪🏻🏴😡
Another solid point proven that a plant based alkaline diet along with your dedicated athletic training matches these kind of elite training standards. To say these guys do this routine on a regular and you kept up to the pace as a first timer speaks volumes about your performance qualities. Big up Alkalion revolutionary training and nutrition defo a man to watch!
Bellend try doing it with kit on, with little to no sleep and for 32 weeks in a row. Along with 5days to a week living in field conditions for half of those weeks
Yip... did my time at that gaff from November to May 71/72 it were non stop WET N FREEZING COLD with shitloads of mud everywhere u went.. you missed all the best bits tho dude.. zappin a Geeps till the barrels went red hot, blastin the tank tracks off a tank with a Carly G, Splitting a tree down the middle from 150 mtrs, with a 2" mortar, standing your ground against mobs of 500 or more all chuckin rocks or petrol bombs at ya and all the other fun sniping & shooty bits... but Respect... a hooyah from an old Bootneck, cool to see any young civvy dude have a go and hold his own, good luck with ur boxing career.
I thought he was going to fail badly. He didn't. Genuine respect for that, he would have got through the POC's phyical, (although I notice he didn't have to do the endurance run!). However, the Royal Marines, quite rightly, take great pride in their identity and traditions, they are not part of the army - unless they end up getting merged with the Parachute Regiment (anyone hear about that?!). He did one day, try doing however many weeks the Royal Marine trainees have to do, soaking wet, freezing cold, sleep deprived, carrying injuries and still perform when it matters... Maybe he could, but we will never know and there will never be a video about that ;)
Reading a number of comments on here made me laugh. Look, Seb is a civilian and many civilians view the military as being based around the Army unless they are on a ship or see airplanes (Navy and AF). It is NOT disrespect to the Royal Marines since he is not privy to the culture. Basically, he should get a pass. Now, the key takeaway from the video is that Seb came off the street and did very well considering he didn't know all the different ways to tackle a military style endurance test. He went balls out in certain events when he could have used techniques to do it easier and smoother while conserving energy. Free legging it on a rope climb is NOT a good idea and trying to challenge someone who is more conditioned for the course will only hurt your overall performance. He said it himself what he tried to do and admitted he got burned out trying to keep up with a stud. I enjoyed the video and Seb would actually do well there if he ever had it in his heart to serve. He has the right mentality to push himself to his utmost limits and that is a trait that is critical to have when seeking to join specialized units.
If you, like Seb, are considering comparing yourself to the RM, it's not enough to simply look up drills online. It's a good place to start, but to truly understand how you fare against the marines, you have to ask yourself questions like ''great, but could I do this in full gear while wet, hungry and going on 34 hours without sleep?''.
That circuit is like a week one or two circuit. This is the minimal fiz you'll recive at lypstone. The bottom field still is a l week 6 warm up Or was in the 90s.
The Royal Marines will not be happy getting called army.......
lookylew2809 I was literally about to say and spotted you was on task 😂

"Their training is the hardest, and longest initial training course in the world. "
I think the Gurkhas might have something to say about that!
Gurkhas are magic, but the RM course IS the longest.
RIP Young Man.. so sad to hear your gone
'Army Base' hmmmm I don't think the RMs will be happy with that!

The Marine and All Arms Commando recruits complete all of the bottom field challenges with 35lbs of belt kit plus rifle attached to them.
