Love your honesty. I feel like alot of crocheters are racing to do the most videos, make new patterns, be most popular on social media, do the most shows, make the most money, etc.... and they are burning out quickly. Just do your own thing, on your own terms and be happy with yourself. Glad you are taking care of you!!!
🥰🥰🥰thank you so much!! Yeah, I definitely feel like I’m on the content hamster wheel, but while the extra money is nice, ultimately optimizing for happiness and creative freedom is much better for my well being ❤️🥳
Hello, I'm Chantale from Montreal, Canada and I'm 56 yrs old, been crocheting amigurumis for over 13 years now. I love your channel, mostly because of your personality Your are a smart talented girl, and this video is priceless. Your are learning things about life and yourself that some people will no event learn in their lifetime!😉 Putting yourself FIRST: before goals, work or profits is not an easy thing to actually DO, but, it will surely put you in the Hapiness road .... I know that you are looked at by many others crafters, and hopefully, they will try to integrate all that in theirs own life. Dont forget to Laught everyday, ENJOY what you do, spend time with yours love ones....and keep presenting cool vidéos ( if you want!) cuz we are loving it!🤗
AWWW! Chantale! Thank you so much for your encouraging comment! 🥰🥰❤️❤️haha it’s definitely been a growth journey having MerryMakes! I think the most recent thing I’ve learned is that I’ve been optimizing for money or efficiency, but not for happiness or creative freedom, and I think understanding that the hustle is not the goal makes crocheting make me a LOT happier!❤️🥳
Thank you for your video. Your feelings are valid and will definitely help others. I had to back off creating a business for my crochet. But my priority is being my husband’s caregiver and it was stressing me out. So I’ve had to be content with selling to friends and family. I do have some of my items at 2 consignment shops. And I completely understand being sad that an item you’ve made doesn’t sell. But it is what it is and I’ll pull that item for a little while or I’ll gift it to someone I know.
Take time for yourself, to be happy. Work will always be there. Nothing is more important than keeping healthy....doing things that works towards being healthy spending time with love ones. Good luck with everything. Love your on-camera personality. 🎉
These are all things I've thought about with my own crochet, because people keep telling me I should sell what I make. But I think I'm happy not monetizing it right now. I want crochet to stay a safe space for me for now. Plus I'm already stressed from my day to day life, I don't think I need to add the stress of a shop on top of that right now 😅 I'm glad you're getting new hobbies and making time for them and also making time to sleep!! Sleep is so important. Take care of yourself. I want you to be happy and healthy 💜
❤️❤️❤️thank you @ZeshaTheCat !!!! I appreciate you taking the time to always comment and share your thoughts with me! ❤️❤️ Haha I feel you on the regular stresses of the day-to-day and then just adding a shop on top of it is a lot! I sometimes regret monetizing crocheting and I support your decision to not monetize crocheting! 👏 or if you ever change your mind in a different season of life, that’s okay too! ❤️and yes!! Resting and sleeping is so important-I can’t believe I did put off that basic self-care for so long! 😅
Hang in there, sweetpea. I hope you’re giving yourself some grace through this challenging period of growth and self-reflection. You are worth SO MUCH MORE than ANY of your “work”. Period. Sending you a huge “Mom hug” (I’m told, by our 4 sons, their wives, and our 3 grandsons that I give really great hugs 😊) all the way from Ohio ☺️🫶🏻🧶 xxx - Lisa (aka Square Granny) 🩷
AWWWW!!!! Square Granny Lisa, thank you so much for your big mom hug and your encouraging and sweet comment!!! 🥰🥰❤️❤️I felt your warmth all the way here in Colorado!
Thanks for being so transparent. We are all human beings with wacky wiring! 🥰 Something that I learned last year was that I have to plan/schedule my free time just like I do for work. That has helped me so much and then…allowing myself time to sleep!! 8 hours/night is a game changer and I’m never going back to sleep deprived me. Thanks for another inspiring video!❤
🥹thank you sharing and for your encouraging comment!!! I totally feel the need to plan schedule free time too! If I don’t intentionally make time and space for free time, I just get run over with it all! And yess! Haha sleep is so important! Let’s both prioritize our sleep and self-care!!🥰🥰❤️❤️
Congrats in reconizing things had to change. You are very talented, don't let anyone tell u otherwise. True happiness is doing what makes you happy & not all this goal setting. Be true to yourself & you will be fine. Take care of yourself.
🥰🥰🥰thank you for your sweet comment!!! I was optimizing for money and efficiency instead of happiness and creative freedom! I’m still adjusting, but I know I’ll find the right balance for me soon! ❤️❤️
I'm glad you are putting yourself first now. The crochet business stress is very real. Mostly I'm just doing whatever I feel like making right now even though I have 3 large craft fairs looming this year...😮😊😂 Always take time for yourself and loved ones and yes sleep. ❤
Random question but do you know if someone has tried to crochet “human sized” wings then boneing it with a type of wire or something to give them form and bounce?? Cuz I thin that would be neet
