    Haha so much better and more professional looking than what they are doing over at Whitecloaks, but between you and the Whitecloaks Rewatch, I am happy to see there are still book fans out there even as the Shadow lays heavy on the pattern.

      Everyone deals with things differently. Whitecloaks fills the niche that people enjoy the rants and humor. I doubt I would do that as well as them, so I tried something a bit different.
      I'm sure I could rant (I do it about pretty much anything I enjoy, haha) but I figured a more calm approach would fight back against the Shadow more effectively.
      The Light illumine you!

    Hmmm...Excuse me good sir, but you DIDN'T REALLY explain much of anything about Aviendha at all. LOL

      It's a quick non-spoiler comparison video. Hopefully in the future I can make a more spoiler based video that points out the entire timeline. But for now.. this is what you get xD

      Cos the point is about aviendha’s skin color and not about explaining anything about the characters .

    You keep repeating that the inspiration for the culture were the zulu (black) , Bedouin (brown) , Japanese (Asian) . It’s an imagined culture , trying to insist that this imagined culture must be this other real life culture which ironically was not one of the inspirations for the imagined culture is doing more of a disservice to RJ’s creation.

    • @thequestioners
      @thequestioners  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I'm just explaining what RJ himself did.. he is the one saying that they are the amalgamation of those cultures as inspiration.
      But he wasn't using their skin color as reference, but how their society works. He was blatant about red heads and blondie Irish people.

    She's definitely *not* black. Aiel are desert Irish.

      @@fp2386 When Rand gets in her pants, he is surprised that her untanned skin is lighter than his. So no, canonically they are huwite.

      @Hlord-be4xxno that’s stupid, blood-sucking is the defining characteristic of Vampires. Skin colour is not the defining characteristic of Aiel..no matter how much you want it to be for whatever reason you!?!

    WOT book fans seem to be arguing every culture in WOT is white . Rand doesn’t look like the 2 rivers people but Rand must be pale / white and the 2 rivers must also be pale / white ??

    • @thequestioners
      @thequestioners  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      No one is arguing that everyone is white in WoT. The Two Rivers is closer to Mediterranean dark hair with tanned skin. Rand is an Aiel which are blonde/redheads pale Irish folk (Rand is described as a redhead with pale skin, idk what to tell you).
      The Domani from Arad Domani are similar to Saudi Arabia in skin color, the Taraboners are closer to Indian from India. Ebou Dar is a mixture of a place. Tear is darker skinned Spaniards. Illian, Andor, Cairhein, and Murandy are pretty light-skinned. The seafolk are dark-skinned. The borderlands range from Asian to darker skin, to even some pale skin.
      By no means is the series "all white". But there are in pale dominant areas for a large chunk of the story due to characters in the story and the plot demanding things happen in those areas.

    Sounds like cultural appropriation to me… taking from African culture but making the characters white….

    • @thequestioners
      @thequestioners  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Robert Jordan specifically wanted to make the Aiel as Irish nomads that were super tall (the women who were on average shorter were still like 6'3-6'7) and some even taller at like 7'. But RJ thought it would be funny to have super pale redheads and blondes in a wasteland.
      The Aiel are based on the Zulu, Bedouin, Apache and Japanese cultures, among others. Every culture in the WoT series are based off a mixture of different cultures and backgrounds. Like Tairens (Tear) have Vietnamese architecture and some clothing styles while being more in tune with Spanish appearance, and have other cultures in foods and other things.
      It isn't cultural appropriation, its cultural re-imaging for a fantasy story.
