absolutely love this thing - suzuki keeping it real
Basic go anywhere type of vehicle. I wouldn't mind one. Speed in Australia is irrelevant anyway. Bad roads. Ridiculously slow speed limits. And getting even slower. A police force that ignores crime to concentrate on easy motoring profit. Ever increasing fines. Cameras everywhere to make the most of the fines. Anything faster than a push bike is overkill. These are good little offroaders. Again where speed often isn't much good. The price is a bit steep. And I wouldn't buy one if they left those road tyres on. 5 A/T swap, or walk. It would be even nicer with a bit more low down grunt. But I bet it would still leave a lot of heavy overpowered 4x4 for dead on most beaches. Weight is not your friend.
get that off ya chest ???
Marvelous, its a manual.
The Jimny is too cute to say anything bad, I just love them👍
Performance wise, this is a throw back to circa 1970. Needs a bigger engine and the auto needs more gears - and so does the manual to get that highway speed rpm down to something reasonable. Again - so 1970s small car.
I think you were referring to the 1.4lt turbojet from the swift, not 1.6!
Yes, that’s the one. I stand corrected. Thank you.
Awesome...the video follows the same exc template as the one you released years ago for the three door variant
Yep. Do you like that template? I’ve been thinking I should change it soon.
@@drivingenthusiastaustraliaI do like it indeed, no need to change....it's simple and goes to the point without missing important details no other review videos cover at all
My motorbike makes twice the power and about the same amount of torque. This reminds me of the first 1,500 cc - 1,600 cc’s when they first converted to fuel injection and unleaded fuel in the mid 80’s.
It seems that the 2nd row of seats looks very high, and is less comfortable for long trips, but the first row is still adequate
Great video! Speed is pretty similar to a Suzuki SX4 1.6 I had.
Btw, the car is not underpowered. It has a decent and normal power to weight ratio as many small displacement city cars, like 90's honda Civics. But people need to understand that gearing has a lot in play here. It's a car meant to be good at fuel consumption, simple for maintenance, and at the same time being able to go off roading (I've seen it going over really bad roads and mud, with the correct tires of course) by just throwing the 4H or 4L and release a bunch of torque. It's never been meant for going fast, none of previous Jimnys either.
If course it's not a car for everyone. Many people would prefer a V8 and a bigger car. In my case after some very complex and expensive experiences with previous cars, I rather drive a daily car that is fuel friendly, able to go pretty much anywhere and have some fun, easy to maintain and fix (that's why I got one, in red as well haha)
I'm thinking of buying the red variant too...but I'm not sure if paint maintenance is a chore or keeping it clean would be difficult on a regular basis. Could you tell me your experience with that matter? Thanks a lot
@@LGMCR these are really maintenance friendly. Most of the paint options are not mica or metallic (the blue one is the only pearl color for 5 door if I'm not mistaken), the rest are just plain color with no pearl, so normal wash and wax would do the job, and maybe paint decontamination once a year. Darker colors could be harder to keep shiny and scratch free though, no matter if its pearl or not. IMO the red one is the prettiest Jimny, the two tone plus black plastic trims make a really nice contrast, and it's not hard to keep clean.
The easiest would be silver, but it's a very generic car color for me.
All terrain tyres in that size might be hard to find.
They are tiny. I’ve seen a few (3dr) getting around with chunky tyres. Looks tough and would be a weapon off road.
Looks like a fun little car, but the price kills it.
Honestly, 35k isn’t too bad for a 5 door.
@@Paradoxical124 40+ driveaway though, for a 1.5 with 70ish kW
@@mo0rd It may be close to $40,000 driveaway, but it's an offroad dedicated SUV, and that small engine is sufficient for it's size.
@@kareembaba7498are you sure it’ll be able to climb even the smallest off road inclines?

Thanks!
Every car needs to be sold with a minimum 150kw.. You cant overtake in that on a hill
load it with 2 blokes! plus driver
0-100 down a mine shaft.. yes.. otherwise it's a dangerous tin pot to be caught in.. under powered to say the least
utterly no overtaking power
Now imagine you have any passengers or luggage
If they insist on using this engin put turbo and then phev this car .. turn it into a generator...to run the work site
Since this vehicle is offroad tyre pressure monitor is very very necessory.
Better 0-100 than the first 2.8L prados! 😂
Would've been awesome and more worth the price if it had a bigger engine, or same engine with turbo for something like 150hp and 220nm.
lol needs what 3,200rpm to maintain 110km/h? in 5th? I used to own a 2008 Ford Focus with 2L NA i4 petrol and 4-speed torque converter, 4th was over-drive but the final drive was 4.25.1, so at 110km/h the engine was revving at 2,900rpm but peak torque (a measly 185Nm) was still around 1,600rpm away at 4,500rpm, that said fuel economy was very decent with an average around 8L per 100km.
A great urban runabout & is more than capable off road. You just have to transport it on a trailer to the scrub to keep ahead of the traffic! 🐌😵💫🤣
😅
dear lord 15 secs 0-100...
i will keep my ford ranger PXIII
Price is ridiculous,,poor value imo
Where else are you getting a brand new 4x4 SUV for 40g
@buwutters417 ldv ,,sanyoung ,gwm. Etc ,,, Jimmy cant tow ,handle loads etc . Your choice your money
@@1lime1000 jimny will also not be in a scrap yard in 10 years with rust
Wow comparing japanese brands with china cars lol
@RL86 yes ,your money your choice
Way too expensive for a little car like this! You can get a LDV T60 for this price.
8.6?? thats me camry 2.5ltr!!
Yeah, during performance testing. It dropped down to high 6s with normal driving.
The price is nowhere near $35,000
At least it’s not pretending to be not dangerously slow like the utes. No digital speedo also. Suzuki hates digital speedo?
Yes, good point.
номер классный сср ещё одной с не хватает))) и будет СССР)))
I'd rather a lifted Suzuki Ignis...
Which this basically is, without the ego
Such a rusty underchassis for a current model. Bet this is a Maruti made in India. Known to rust quick compared to Japan-made Jimnys.
All Jimny XLs are made in India. The 3 door is made in Japan.
@@alexaeschtnot completely true...also the 3 door variant is made in India for markets like Latin America and South Africa
@@LGMCR I was referring to the Australian market
@@alexaescht Nope some 3-door in southeast asia are indian made.
It’s not built for this shit not a daily driver for most of the people sadly
Cars this slow should be illegal on the roads, extremely dangerous.
