I am a retired American construction worker living in Thailand. 2 years ago I bought a brand new Toyota Hilux pick-up truck that is a turbo diesel with extended cab with the conversion to US dollars I paid $18 and a half thousand dollars with 150 miles on the speedometer brand new from the Toyota dealer I bought a beautiful big condo on the ocean in bangsaray Thailand 42,000$ USA money. I was back in the United States last summer to visit friends and family and could not believe in my wildest dreams the cost of everything. I really don't see any future of coming back to the US. The medical services in Thailand are as good as anything in the United States so that's my story

Toyota is perhaps the only brand exempt from this rule, but most new cars suck ass compared to 20ish years ago. We pushed tech integration too far and now it’s convoluted and expensive. My 1986 ford f150 is 1/10th the cost of a new one, engineered well enough to hold up over the last 38 years on the original drivetrain, over engineered, stupid reliable, with a rising resale value, with very little computerization or technology to maintain, with parts that are extremely cheap and readily available and easy to install yourself in the driveway. Makes it hard to want a new one.

I bought my 03 silverado 1500HD about 7 years ago for 7000$ and it's paid for and still runs good and does everything plus more than any new truck will do and same as you I'm saving money every month not having a 1500$ truck payment
I remember in the 3rd world long time ago, Foriegn made car and trucks with OEM equipment manufactured from Western civilized countries were subject to "importation taxes" up to 880% over the price sold in the origination country. Just before Covid hit I bought an off lease 2017 Chevy Colorado LT V6 crew cab long bed 4x4 with the tech package with 27,129 miles for $26,975. That was an out the door price including tax. I was able to pay them cash so that was a real price of what I paid. Now it's 2024 and the truck has 41,000 miles on it. It still looks brand new inside and out. Because of the crazy truck prices it is now worth more then I paid for it. I'm 70 years old and have bought many vehicles. This is the first time any of them have actually gone up in value.
Bring back the basics. Bring back the trucks from the 50s-80s. No electronics no frills. Just good ol steel and horsepower. Thats all we wanted anyway. No need to make a new model every year. Find what works and stick with it. Make it to last and make ot affordable.

I bought my 1987 Chevy pick up for $15,000. It had an AM/FM stereo in it and new air conditioning air-conditioning was more money back then 5.7 L 350 engine with a 700 R transmission I put 400,000 miles on it regular oil changes, it was a bare-bones truck they don’t make stuff like that anymore. Everybody has to have the screens to the seat warmer and whatever else they can think of. That’s why they’re so expensive if some company would just make a bare-bones truck and take all that crap out of there I think we will be better off.

If I'm gonna spend over 75k for a truck it will be a work truck not any of there pos f150s or 1500s I paid 36k for my 1500 thats all 1/2 ton trucks are worth also ford is so garbage my boss bought a 2024 f450 for towing our equipment and it has 2k miles on it now well it's at the dealer to get the seat cover reattached and the steering replaced because the joints in the steering is already bad we have 2 ram 4500s also and both of them don't have any issues the 2008 ram 4500 has 400k with only the a/c and a fuse block fixed everything else is original

Back in the day, they used to put all the "extras" in their top-of-the-line, limited luxury models (for the people that could afford them), so the rest of us could purchase a more cost-effective "standard" model that was actually "standard." No electric windows, no power locks, no automatic sliding doors and power liftgates (God forbid we exert ourselves opening a sliding door or liftgate), no backup monitors, no heated seats, no 15 speaker sound systems...just a car with a heater, air and a radio to get you from point "A" to point "B" in reasonable comfort at a reasonable cost. Now they cram unwanted add-ons to various degrees in all models...even trucks!! Remember when trucks were just trucks? Did we, as consumers, ask for all these guaranteed to fail, wallet-emptying "features?" Hell no, we didn't!! I say let the manufacturers choke on their unsold inventories of over-loaded, hedonistic monstrosities, so they can have the much needed "come to Jesus" realization that they royally screwed up with their greed-driven antics in the name of (COUGH!!) innovation.
Dude, power windows and locks just make sense. How the hell are you supposed to roll up or down a window on the other side of the vehicle going down the road? The answer is you don't. You have to stop for that. It is not a major expense to have those 2 items. Backup cameras. Yeah that also makes sense as a safety feature and general helpful item for backup a vehicle up safely. You cannot see directly behind a vehicle with mirrors unless you have rear mounted mirrors which won't work for a truck. Power doors and gates are luxury items for sure. And while I don't need 15 speakers, I would certainly be happy if they just offered the option to have a better amp and better regular speakers that don't distort when you get them loud enough to actually listen to something.
The problem started with people who don't need trucks, buying trucks as a way to signal masculine traits. Most new trucks I see on the road aren't hauling anything but fragile egos.

We have car tax (3.5%) in Virginia on top of the monthly payment that we pay every year on the cars value on top of these ridiculous prices. I drive a 1995 ford F150 195,000 miles, 2000 Ford Crown Victoria 225,000 miles, 2011 Chevy Tahoe 225,000. I fix them myself and keep on top of the service. I would much rather do that then buy a new one now. All these dealers can the junk they are selling these days, because I refuse to buy there crap now. I will keep rebuilding what I have.

The one area that is in trouble is the EV lighting because there ARE 2023 models still on the lot. Also, a lot of this TH-camr's videos have sensationalized titles like this one. Makes it seem like...YEA STICK IT TO THE MAN...THATLL SHOW THEM FOR CHARGING HIGH PRICES...but reality is much different. He lives in Idaho and inventory moves slower up there. Here in the Southeast and Southwest, lots are empty and trucks are still selling like hotcakes. I remember in 2009 my brother bought a brand new lariat for $40,000 and we all thought he was fucking insane. The only difference between that truck and the new one is an aluminum body and a 10 speed transmission. Until the XLT gets down there around $30,000 with the V8 I won’t even be entertaining the idea of buying a new truck. Or they offer a 10 year bumper-to-bumper hundred thousand mile warranty because that’s about how long it’s gonna take to pay off one of these trucks and it’s absurd to think that you’re going to have to make repairs before it’s paid for.

I had the same reaction. I bought my 2020 Nissan Frontier SV Crew Cab 4x4 loaded with all available options at the time, in June ‘23 with 18k miles. $23,500. That Tundra probably has 200k or more miles on it. I don’t mind a vehicle a quarter of a century old, as long as it was mine 90% of it. I’m not going to buy one for that much that someone else has driven into the ground.
I think older stuff is starting to hold value a lot more because people are realizing the old stuff was built way better and they're more reliable than the new pieces of junk they pump out of the assembly lines.
The problem is any vehicle over 100k miles has serious rot up here in the rust belt. IMO any vehicle with over 100k miles on it isn't worth more than about $8k.
Truck prices should be around $35k to $40k max. They have out priced more than a good percentage of the consumers from the market. They sold to all the idiots with too much money. Now what's remaining in the market are the people who can't afford them or people that refuse to spend the ridiculous amount of $$.
Your probably partially right.. The other half that pays this much will be a repo as soon as the kid loses his job or/and starts to feel the pain of a $700-1200 dollar payment for 84 months.. and has to make a decision "Do I really need a Truck"
It's an awful combination of supply issues, increasing material costs, ever tightening government regulation, and to top it off dealer markups. The vehicle industry in general is in trouble, for basically anything with a little bit of capability beyond "get to the grocery store and back" You're paying a quarter to half your yearly income in just a down payment anymore.

I retired from GM after thirty plus years. I would buy new trucks every three to four years but, my last truck was 2011 and likely will be my last. I cannot see paying more for a truck than I did for my first home. The corporation left me after their EV push and I’m betting many share my feelings. I would rather buy a new engine if needed than mortgage my life for a ride.
In the $30’s is o.k for any pick up-cut the length and width of the big trucks and trim the price because now when parking it takes up the whole parking spot-saving metal should bring the price down
My 98 Silverado that I have had for over 20 years still does everything I need a truck to do. Other than a fuel pump that went out last year it has been pretty much solid.
Wise. Good job maintaining it. I have a 2000 Tahoe that runs like new. Still original brakes, original cold a/c. Did need an inline fuel pump several years ago.
Loving my 99 Silverado, 25 years of reliable use. Of course, maintenance is key. Finally changed the factory brakes at 240,000 miles. Had all seals and gaskets replaced last year. No oil burn and great compression. Heart Beat of America, baby
I guess that depends on your definition of good. There are plenty of decent older cars with over 100k miles that scare people away. Yes, they require some more hands on TLC than newer cars with a warranty but they are simpler to fix and once you get proficient at simple repairs, they are the way to go if money is tight.

I graduated high school in 1979. A friend of mine bought a Ford F100 2 wheel drive and regular cab, for graduation. He paid a whopping $3,000. Back then, pickup trucks were basic transportation and affordable. Some of those trucks being shown cost more than the first house I bought. At those prices, they can keep them.
My dad passed away in 1999 he bought a brand new truck about every 3 years because we had a our own business any bought a 1996 Chevy Silverado extended cab brand new for $14,000 it's insane how much vehicles cost how do they expect people to afford them me and my wife together made 82,000 last year we have children at home we can't afford it

That $14K in '96 equates to $28K today and to put things in perspective, these trucks are stupidly priced. That same truck you guys bought in '96 should be $28k today & we all know there isn't a new full size Silverado priced anywhere near $28K today. Couple years ago I bought a clean 1986 ford f150 lariat. Cost me less than 1/10th what a new one would, its built better than a new one (plus shes still completely rust free), and it gets way more attention around town than a new truck ever will. Cheap parts, easy to fix, cheap insurance and taxes, no payment. Has AC, power windows and locks, cruise control… I don’t know how I could ever justify a new truck.

I have no issue with the manufacturers making 80K pickups, but that should be a small percentage of the what’s produced. It seems everything that’s released is ultra premium with options, that leaves no room for affordable mid trim work trucks.

A f150 is ok if your hauling trash bags but it’s not going to tow my 12k lb 5th wheel camper or be a service truck or tow around heavy equipment.
These truck cost more than what I paid for my small/modest home with a huge yard 23 years ago. And even with increase price in houses, some of those truck Still cost more than what my home is valued at...bought my home for $63,000, it's worth about $120,000 now. Those trucks will lose value the second you sign the papers and turn the key to drive it off the dealership lot. Also, some folks that need a truck, need one that they are not afraid to throw a cord of wood into, or building material...getting it scratched or dinged a little bit while on job sites, or going hunting and having to drive down narrow roads that have branches that are growing into the road a bit that can scratch paint.
Meant to protect US jobs. Trade is great if you’re swapping products with another country. Not so great if you just send your money to their workers and instead of buying your products they buy the business you work for and close it down.
Just blows my mind to see trucks cost as much as a house used to. To think if they just would have kept prices low, they would have sold a record amount of them. Now, we will see these brands collapse and fail. All they had to do is sell more of them at normal prices.

I remember as a kid in the early 90's an noticed that trucks and Subaru cars were the cheapest vehicles in the newspaper ads. Vehicle prices sicken me. This is part of the "you will own nothing and love it" plan devised by the WEF.

I hear what everyone is saying but lets talk about the 2012 raptor in the video. 28k, 12 years (13 model years) old. Probably 170k+ miles. Looks clean, probably hiding lots of issues. The market is broken and as long as people are still going out and buying any trucks, they dont have the incentive to relax the grip. Meanwhile, people in the trades cant buy new fleets. people in the service industry (home repair/lawn service etc..) riding around in 15-20 year old trucks.

They are high AF. That's why I decided to rebuild a an 86 K-10. the engine is a 355 L48 out of an 69 Camaro. The rust repair has everything corrected. All said and done, I'll have a new basic simple usable truck for 18K.

The damned automakers quit making durable vehicles years ago. Way too much technology on them. They need to go back to making durable and AFFORDABLE trucks: -regular cab with long bed -option of a manual 5 speed and engine sizes -every truck should be equipped with a trailer hitch and locking rear differential -quit underpowering the trucks -put real bumpers on them, not some plastic bullshit -offer a turbo inline 6 cyl engine

6:00 the thing about writing off your expenses, you still have to make the money before you can write it off. If you have a lease payment of $2000+ you have to make an add'l $2000 just to break even. I had the opportunity to double my shop space by renting the unit next door. It was a great price BUT, I'd have to double my profits JUST to break even. That means twice as much work, twice as much marketing, and hiring people which isn't cheap. I figured after all that I'd end up increasing my income by 20% max. So I passed.
Truck prices have been out of control for years. Ford used to make an affordable truck for working men. $60k is a lot to spend on a truck. Bought my '96 F-350 (7.3 CC SRW 2WD manual) for four figures in 2021 with 265,000 miles. Now it's at 283,000 and while it does need some new fuel pumps, it's a treat to drive and has never left me on the side of the road. The cost of maintenance for an older truck like this still pales in cost to anything new and is not comparable given that it was made in the time before computers became good enough to model material wear to barely outlive warranties. The newest vehicle I own is from 2008 and it's probably going to stay that way for a long time.

I am a retired American construction worker living in Thailand. 2 years ago I bought a brand new Toyota Hilux pick-up truck that is a turbo diesel with extended cab with the conversion to US dollars I paid $18 and a half thousand dollars with 150 miles on the speedometer brand new from the Toyota dealer I bought a beautiful big condo on the ocean in bangsaray Thailand 42,000$ USA money. I was back in the United States last summer to visit friends and family and could not believe in my wildest dreams the cost of everything. I really don't see any future of coming back to the US. The medical services in Thailand are as good as anything in the United States so that's my story

Toyota is perhaps the only brand exempt from this rule, but most new cars suck ass compared to 20ish years ago. We pushed tech integration too far and now it’s convoluted and expensive. My 1986 ford f150 is 1/10th the cost of a new one, engineered well enough to hold up over the last 38 years on the original drivetrain, over engineered, stupid reliable, with a rising resale value, with very little computerization or technology to maintain, with parts that are extremely cheap and readily available and easy to install yourself in the driveway. Makes it hard to want a new one.

I bought a house 20 years ago for less than most new trucks cost. It's INSANE.
Just before Covid hit I bought an off lease 2017 Chevy Colorado LT V6 crew cab long bed 4x4 with the tech package with 27,129 miles for $26,975. That was an out the door price including tax. I was able to pay them cash so that was a real price of what I paid. Now it's 2024 and the truck has 41,000 miles on it. It still looks brand new inside and out. Because of the crazy truck prices it is now worth more then I paid for it. I'm 70 years old and have bought many vehicles. This is the first time any of them have actually gone up in value.

I bought my 1987 Chevy pick up for $15,000. It had an AM/FM stereo in it and new air conditioning air-conditioning was more money back then 5.7 L 350 engine with a 700 R transmission I put 400,000 miles on it regular oil changes, it was a bare-bones truck they don’t make stuff like that anymore. Everybody has to have the screens to the seat warmer and whatever else they can think of. That’s why they’re so expensive if some company would just make a bare-bones truck and take all that crap out of there I think we will be better off.

Back in the day, they used to put all the "extras" in their top-of-the-line, limited luxury models (for the people that could afford them), so the rest of us could purchase a more cost-effective "standard" model that was actually "standard." No electric windows, no power locks, no automatic sliding doors and power liftgates (God forbid we exert ourselves opening a sliding door or liftgate), no backup monitors, no heated seats, no 15 speaker sound systems...just a car with a heater, air and a radio to get you from point "A" to point "B" in reasonable comfort at a reasonable cost.
Now they cram unwanted add-ons to various degrees in all models...even trucks!! Remember when trucks were just trucks? Did we, as consumers, ask for all these guaranteed to fail, wallet-emptying "features?" Hell no, we didn't!! I say let the manufacturers choke on their unsold inventories of over-loaded, hedonistic monstrosities, so they can have the much needed "come to Jesus" realization that they royally screwed up with their greed-driven antics in the name of (COUGH!!) innovation.
Dude, power windows and locks just make sense. How the hell are you supposed to roll up or down a window on the other side of the vehicle going down the road? The answer is you don't. You have to stop for that. It is not a major expense to have those 2 items. Backup cameras. Yeah that also makes sense as a safety feature and general helpful item for backup a vehicle up safely. You cannot see directly behind a vehicle with mirrors unless you have rear mounted mirrors which won't work for a truck. Power doors and gates are luxury items for sure. And while I don't need 15 speakers, I would certainly be happy if they just offered the option to have a better amp and better regular speakers that don't distort when you get them loud enough to actually listen to something.
Either buy a truck to live in or or buy a house, let the ignorance figure it out.

We have car tax (3.5%) in Virginia on top of the monthly payment that we pay every year on the cars value on top of these ridiculous prices. I drive a 1995 ford F150 195,000 miles, 2000 Ford Crown Victoria 225,000 miles, 2011 Chevy Tahoe 225,000. I fix them myself and keep on top of the service. I would much rather do that then buy a new one now. All these dealers can the junk they are selling these days, because I refuse to buy there crap now. I will keep rebuilding what I have.

I remember in 2009 my brother bought a brand new lariat for $40,000 and we all thought he was fucking insane. The only difference between that truck and the new one is an aluminum body and a 10 speed transmission. Until the XLT gets down there around $30,000 with the V8 I won’t even be entertaining the idea of buying a new truck. Or they offer a 10 year bumper-to-bumper hundred thousand mile warranty because that’s about how long it’s gonna take to pay off one of these trucks and it’s absurd to think that you’re going to have to make repairs before it’s paid for.

I had the same reaction. I bought my 2020 Nissan Frontier SV Crew Cab 4x4 loaded with all available options at the time, in June ‘23 with 18k miles. $23,500. That Tundra probably has 200k or more miles on it. I don’t mind a vehicle a quarter of a century old, as long as it was mine 90% of it. I’m not going to buy one for that much that someone else has driven into the ground.
I think older stuff is starting to hold value a lot more because people are realizing the old stuff was built way better and they're more reliable than the new pieces of junk they pump out of the assembly lines.
The problem is any vehicle over 100k miles has serious rot up here in the rust belt. IMO any vehicle with over 100k miles on it isn't worth more than about $8k.

ahaha yep I mountain hike a lot and my 1st black car was the last I could not hold the steering wheel nor sit in it after it sat 12hrs in the sun at 6560ft had to replace the metallic gear knob as it was close to 176°F once, also you see all the scratches but that's a minor problem vs the inferno inside when you have no shade to park it under

I retired from GM after thirty plus years. I would buy new trucks every three to four years but, my last truck was 2011 and likely will be my last. I cannot see paying more for a truck than I did for my first home. The corporation left me after their EV push and I’m betting many share my feelings. I would rather buy a new engine if needed than mortgage my life for a ride.

My 98 Silverado that I have had for over 20 years still does everything I need a truck to do. Other than a fuel pump that went out last year it has been pretty much solid.
Wise. Good job maintaining it. I have a 2000 Tahoe that runs like new. Still original brakes, original cold a/c. Did need an inline fuel pump several years ago.
Loving my 99 Silverado, 25 years of reliable use. Of course, maintenance is key. Finally changed the factory brakes at 240,000 miles. Had all seals and gaskets replaced last year. No oil burn and great compression. Heart Beat of America, baby

I guess that depends on your definition of good. There are plenty of decent older cars with over 100k miles that scare people away. Yes, they require some more hands on TLC than newer cars with a warranty but they are simpler to fix and once you get proficient at simple repairs, they are the way to go if money is tight.
@@Andy-df5fj its not about fixing them. its about the cosmetics. interiors are busted, need full repaint etc. thats just age. and you cant fix that because interior parts are not available. some people are fine with driving in a stink bucket, others like something thats presentable.

I graduated high school in 1979. A friend of mine bought a Ford F100 2 wheel drive and regular cab, for graduation. He paid a whopping $3,000. Back then, pickup trucks were basic transportation and affordable. Some of those trucks being shown cost more than the first house I bought. At those prices, they can keep them.
My dad passed away in 1999 he bought a brand new truck about every 3 years because we had a our own business any bought a 1996 Chevy Silverado extended cab brand new for $14,000 it's insane how much vehicles cost how do they expect people to afford them me and my wife together made 82,000 last year we have children at home we can't afford it
they don't really expect it and in fact even at 80'000 they lose money on those even at those prices Ford lost billions already this year, those prices aren't the truck prices it's the zero emission EV "tax" and their attempt of getting more money out of ICE vehicles to fund that pointless and hopeless EV switch
That $14K in '96 equates to $28K today and to put things in perspective, these trucks are stupidly priced. That same truck you guys bought in '96 should be $28k today & we all know there isn't a new full size Silverado priced anywhere near $28K today. Couple years ago I bought a clean 1986 ford f150 lariat. Cost me less than 1/10th what a new one would, its built better than a new one (plus shes still completely rust free), and it gets way more attention around town than a new truck ever will. Cheap parts, easy to fix, cheap insurance and taxes, no payment. Has AC, power windows and locks, cruise control… I don’t know how I could ever justify a new truck.
Trucks used to be useful vehicles that people actually needed. Now they made them so fancy that you can’t even afford them. Most people that have trucks do not need them.

In the Southern states, the majority drive trucks haul everything.
I have no issue with the manufacturers making 80K pickups, but that should be a small percentage of the what’s produced. It seems everything that’s released is ultra premium with options, that leaves no room for affordable mid trim work trucks.
My local dealership has 26 regular cab f150s priced at $35k, they are even giving everyone a free $2k to put down towards it

A f150 as a work truck? What you hauling and towing. I need a truck that can tow 12-16 thousand pounds and capable of hauling a 2000lb in the bed. A f150 is ok if your hauling trash bags but it’s not going to tow my 12k lb 5th wheel camper or be a service truck or tow around heavy equipment.
These truck cost more than what I paid for my small/modest home with a huge yard 23 years ago.
And even with increase price in houses, some of those truck Still cost more than what my home is valued at...bought my home for $63,000, it's worth about $120,000 now. Those trucks will lose value the second you sign the papers and turn the key to drive it off the dealership lot.
Also, some folks that need a truck, need one that they are not afraid to throw a cord of wood into, or building material...getting it scratched or dinged a little bit while on job sites, or going hunting and having to drive down narrow roads that have branches that are growing into the road a bit that can scratch paint.

This in turn has created a mindset amongst U.S. auto manufacturers that the American consumer with pay anything for a shiny new vehicle. The fact that all three U.S. auto manufacturers just announced yet more increases in their vehicle prices just supports this mindset.
I remember as a kid in the early 90's an noticed that trucks and Subaru cars were the cheapest vehicles in the newspaper ads. Vehicle prices sicken me. This is part of the "you will own nothing and love it" plan devised by the WEF.
The 3.5 turbo in the Tundra has gotten a bad reputation. There are many videos about owners having problems with spun bearings on the motor.
My son just got rid of his Tundra for that reason but got mad at the dealership for the warrantee work and then stupidly lost his temper and went out and bought a brand new Tahoe (loaded) truck. Both my husband and I are furious with him for his stupidity!!!!

I hear what everyone is saying but lets talk about the 2012 raptor in the video. 28k, 12 years (13 model years) old. Probably 170k+ miles. Looks clean, probably hiding lots of issues. The market is broken and as long as people are still going out and buying any trucks, they dont have the incentive to relax the grip. Meanwhile, people in the trades cant buy new fleets. people in the service industry (home repair/lawn service etc..) riding around in 15-20 year old trucks.

No, what's happening here is people who don't need a truck are finding out (finally) some sad economic facts. That's why I decided to rebuild a an 86 K-10. the engine is a 355 L48 out of an 69 Camaro. The rust repair has everything corrected. All said and done, I'll have a new basic simple usable truck for 18K.

The damned automakers quit making durable vehicles years ago. Way too much technology on them.
They need to go back to making durable and AFFORDABLE trucks:
-regular cab with long bed
-option of a manual 5 speed and engine sizes
-every truck should be equipped with a trailer hitch and locking rear differential
-quit underpowering the trucks
-put real bumpers on them, not some plastic bullshit
-offer a turbo inline 6 cyl engine

6:00 the thing about writing off your expenses, you still have to make the money before you can write it off. If you have a lease payment of $2000+ you have to make an add'l $2000 just to break even. I had the opportunity to double my shop space by renting the unit next door. It was a great price BUT, I'd have to double my profits JUST to break even. That means twice as much work, twice as much marketing, and hiring people which isn't cheap. I figured after all that I'd end up increasing my income by 20% max. So I passed.
Truck prices have been out of control for years. Ford used to make an affordable truck for working men. $60k is a lot to spend on a truck. It's more than a year's take home pay for most guys in the trades. Ford wants more than $80k FOR A TRUCK?! One hundred... twenty... thousand... dollars? I'm blown away.

Bought my '96 F-350 (7.3 CC SRW 2WD manual) for four figures in 2021 with 265,000 miles. Now it's at 283,000 and while it does need some new fuel pumps, it's a treat to drive and has never left me on the side of the road. The cost of maintenance for an older truck like this still pales in cost to anything new and is not comparable given that it was made in the time before computers became good enough to model material wear to barely outlive warranties. The newest vehicle I own is from 2008 and it's probably going to stay that way for a long time.
