    I never knew you guys were actually legit. I’ve past up on a lot of car parts from you guys just because I never knew you . Good to see you actually work on your car . Got a new customer 😅

    Brilliant video. All steps clearly shown and I like the tools and parts bit at the beginning. One of the best car maintenance videos I've seen.

    Such a great delivery of the knowledge, so chill.

      I was going to comment on the relaxed (I take it as "kind") nature Mike has throughout this video. I don't even own an R, but watched this all the way through.

    It would be awesome to have a parts, tools & process video like this for the 2WD Golf MkVII
    Especially because I haven't found any way to KNOW for sure what is hidden behind the dust cap...
    It's like Schrodinger's Disposable Bolt...
    M12? 12mm hex? 24mm 12 point?

    The service manual says "Caution, never use an impact wrench when removing the bolt", talking about the center bolt.

    I believe the torque spec for the wheel-bearing-to-axle bolt is wrong. The torque spec for WHT005437A (silver) is 200 Nm + 90 deg. The 200 Nm + 180 deg torque spec is for WHT005437 (black) bolt.

    • @dt8696
      @dt8696 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are not correct. 90 deg should use when you have bolt with notches. Smooth bolts always 200+180* for types of vw

      @@dt8696 You should check repair manual from erwin or ElsaPro lol. Your info is wrong

    Just did this on my 16 R. Folks in the rust belt be careful with that 3 M12s in the rear, i had to whip out the torch for mine. 100k Miles on my car/hub.

    Excellent. Question: why use ceramic paste for the mating surfaces and anti seize for the splines? Is there harm in using anti seize for both surfaces?

    Great Video to the point and concise, I have one question though...I'm pretty sure the parts are different but is the procedure the same for a Golf Alltrack?

    • @BSGoering
      @BSGoering 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have the same question and wondering if you ever received clarification on this (here or somewhere else)? Sounds like the R has an electric parking brake but besides that, I kinda assume it's the same configuration.

    • @harryberry474
      @harryberry474 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ...No I haven't But when it comes time to do my brakes I'm going to dive right in My Alltrack is a 2017 MY and does not have a E-parking brake it should be a pretty straight forward procedure

  • @alanburke76

    Is the process the same if you have a front wheel drive Golf or GTI?

    Hypothetically if I am to replace the axle too at the same time would I unbolt the axle from the diff and be able to free it when the hub is removed?

    At 12:22, when you say M12, do you mean 12mm hex drive or triple square?
