Ever since I have been driving the #vw #golfr mk8 which we rebuilt on the channel I have been a bit underwhelmed. Although the car handled and stopped brilliantly it definitely lacked some drama and sound from the engine and exhaust. In this video we are going to fix that by fitting an exhaust made by @RPMPerformances and also then upgrading the eco tune courtesy of @volkswagenracinguk which will undoubtably transform the driving characteristics of the MK8 Golf R.

I got Raclingline's Stage 1 tune on my 245 Tiguan Allspace (basically the Gti engine) as part of their Beta testing back in November.
It now chucks out 339PS and 500Nm and using a rather shonky Android App timed 0-60 in 4.67 & 1/4 mile in a smidge over 13.
Chris and the team in Milton Keynes are proper gents, can't wait to get my suspension lowered next and a chance to get the latest tune which see it good for 350PS

This has to be my current dream car, I drive a scirocco 2.0tsi at the moment and seeing you build this car to what it can be is very inspiring that I can hopefully own one of these someday!

I replaced the entire exhaust on my 2020 FK8 and was amazed how (relatively) simple at was.

Get some Würth Boltex for the rusty bolts its awesome or a induction bolt heater
Workshops that use WD40 to loosen rusty screws, a true sign of "expertise".
I the the last thing you can do is a upgraded intercooler, then youd have to look for hybrid turbos OR IS38 hybrids

Awesome results. But you really need to install a (sports-)cat to keep it at least somewhat legal....
I swapped my 600cell cat for a sports cat (200cell) on my M140i, and it passed the first MOT, just about scraped through the 2nd, and failed misersably on the 3rd and 4th.
They don't last long !!
I recently had the Racingline Stage 1 (low torque version) added to my MK8 R, however the turbo turbine blades cracked and destroyed the turbo. Car is only 2 months old from new. Sad times. Luckily Racingline paid for the replacement (as VW wouldn't cover it under warranty due to the tune) and installation. Not sure if it were a faulty part from factory, or it was the tune. Really hesitant to get remapped again.

Especially those torx screws 😣 you barely can grab it especially when they’re rusted ,,, good example,, this car is not too old enough and they were struggling to take them off , other than that it’s a very nice car !! Enjoy it !

Too loud and farty for my taste, but each to their own.
I prefer the sleeper type of hatch, I don't want everyone turning their heads at me every time I drive past and thinking 'oh god look at that twat'.
My car has the standard exhaust, just a sports cat which gives it a slight increase in volume but hardly anything. It still makes 455bhp/634nm.
My thoughts exactly. It doesn't help that modern 4 pots simply sound horrible whatever you do to them.
Agreed, cars should sound as loud as they have to for the performance, but not just because you change the catback (which has no difference on the power of an mk8r) to artificially make it louder.. downpipe makes a difference yeah the exhaust doesn't for performance. Upgraded downpipe for the performance with stock exhaust will get some nice sound without being obnoxious.
