This game is fantastic. You hate and love it at the same time. After my first play through, I did a play through without a shell. There is a tunnel near the beginning you can forsake all shells and just use your foundling form. That was an amazing run to get through.
The only thing I don't really like from what I see here is that the game only has 4/5 weapons and no mixable armor sets, just the shells. I'm big on making my own character feel like mine, but oh well, and it sounds like a short game so either way worth the time I think but the visuals look so good I was hoping for more customization and longer game time. Maybe they will make another one someday! Or we will see if Lord's of the Fallen ever get's a sequel that is worthy.
@@mattswank There are color swaps for the "shells" as they're called. @@phant0mdummy I finished mortal she'll a few days ago. Final boss was a serious pain. All the others only took a few tries. Really good game. Still get lost in fullgrim though 😂. I'll take your advice regarding dark souls thanks.

I found out about this classic last year but never tried it until today. The combat feels very realistic, similar to Dogma, and the way the enemies react is similar to Tsushima, not as brutal and epic but very similar.
I found that just backing up was a option that was a 50/50. Especially with bosses they must have patched it for Xbox. I found that often when retreating or healing enemies would rush you. I saw a cheese video on the bosses that said they all slow walk. Not true. I am pretty sure every boss could close distance quick enough to punish you for healing and retreating. But I am playing the enhanced edition on NG+ with the DLC. It seems a little more finished now then it did on release.
Still a very good game. If you can get the virtuous cycle dlc cheap, grab that too. There are only four dungeons but makes the game very replayable for NG and NG+.
What I love about dark souls is the insane reputation when I started DS3 it took me like 100 tries for the first boss but it was so hard that I 1 shoted the 2nd and 3rd boss the whole point is if you learn the gimmick of rolling you can defeat the game Just know that you will die along the way and that's part of the fun learning the pattern of the bosses never fails to make you feel amazing (probably the best example is: the dancer of the boreal valley) to sum it up go and enjoy the game! After playing all the Fromsoft games to death I decided to try Mortal Shell, and it’s a steaming pile of dogshit. The pace of combat is appallingly slow because stamina regen takes about a myriad, and there’s no real healing items like Estus Flasks, and because there’s no reliable and consistent way to heal you have to play really slowly and careful, not taking risks, and waiting for enemies to throw out moves that you can punish. Meta gameplay genuinely feels like cheesing, and it’s insultingly un-fun. The weapons feel like pool noodles, the riposte system is idiotic, and all of the shells have too little health, too little stamina, or too little of both. Fallen Order is unironically a FAR superior Souls-like. This game isn’t even worth playing on Gamepass.
One important thing to note: On Medium graphics settings the game looks a lot more depressing and uninviting (even to play) than on other settings. Once I set it to High (balanced out with upscaling), the visuals became a lot more appealing. This may sound petty, but for me, it meant a lot.
