I was struck by just how good the music can be in this game. I have the track from the first big boss battle - the Bishop of the Cite - stuck in my head on a loop, just now. As for the game as a whole, I've generally avoided soulslike games - though I bashed myself against Elden Ring for a bit - but I find this one especially accessible, with lots of appeal in the story and visuals. Maybe add it to the soulslike starter pack?
The atmosphere and setting, as well as the elaborate story, make me want to try this out. Most complaints I've heard from people on TH-cam say that it's not too great of a game mostly because it fails to be unique and different in gameplay from other Soulslike games. Well, I have never played any Soulslike game before, so I guess I won't be too bothered by that as Steelrising may feel new to me. I guess I'll find out!
Greedfall in my opinion is an absolute underrated gem and a excellent classic RPG; so this game definitely looks worth considering. I kinda like the quirky nature of the good Spiders games, and I find the protagonist in this to be quite unique and looks fun to level up and make our own. Woulda been cool to have a male version of the automated character, but I like the design of the female one we get to use. I'm sure she will be likable, but how about a future 2B mod tho?? 😜
I really really like that this game difficulty can be modified. not everyone enjoys playing the same battle for days, like in the Souls series. I will give this game a try, it looks great!
This game was not on my radar at all but wow the aesthetic and atmosphere look super cool. I love the design of the protagonist and the anamatomic look and feel of the enemies. I'm definitely going to play this at some point, thanks for the video
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Falcon. I was intrigued enough from watching the trailers, but it’s nice to learn more about the combat variety. Seems pretty cool
Thanks, Falcon. Trying it out now since it's free this month. Not a big Souls-Like game guy, buuuuut, with the assist mode being set to almost max, I'll give it the ol college try.
Idk. It's been around popular sense Zelda and Rygar, battle of Olympus. Then the advertisement of games is way more. So I think it's always been full just not advertised as much
Felt like something was missing when i was watching the gameplay and realized its the lack of music or standout sound effects. With other souls like they have very unique audio within their gameplay where you could close your eyes and know which installment you're playing, with this it kinda sounds like stock audio they got off a website.
I know you said this game wasn’t particularly “amazing” but if this is a game that that has reliable mechanics, a cool story, and isn’t full of bugs, then its a great game in my book Even more so because it’s an original concept, it isn’t a sequel relying on the IP of an established “universe” and it did well (unlike anthem which I still think is a cool concept
This game is excellent and I cannot believe IGN gave it a 6. I absolutely love this game and it is outranking Demon's Souls for me. The mechanical movement and different attire you can wear is, awesome. Plus, Spiders made my favourite Classic RPG of all time GreedFall. I cannot wait for GreedFall 2.
I've been on the fence about this one ever since it was announced. After this review and a few others like it, I've finally decided to give it a spin -- in about six months to a year when the price tag has hopefully fallen down a bit. I love the Souls-like sub-genre (Bloodborne is in my top three of all time), but I've been burned by some mediocre entries. This one sounds good enough to buy. Just not at full price.
Exactly, we are going to get lies of p and that one might be worth buying at full price. If not, well we most likely have a price drop on this one by the time it releases
@@sparda2098 Terrible timing for Spiders. They're trying to drum up hype for their new game at the same time Lies of P is getting this flood of new trailers and information. What are the odds that someone else would be working on a Bloodborne-looking Souls-like with a semi-mechanical leading hero?
I like this game so far, but it crashed on me 3 times consecutively when I was playing it on ps5. I don’t if it’s because it’s day one of its release, but I never had a new game crash like this ever. I hope there’s a quick update to fix this problem that people might be experiencing because I really wanted to keep playing it, but this needs to be known to the studio. If anyone that experienced this too let us know.
Not a fan of the engine they are using(assuming it's their proprietary one that powered Greedfall) and getting similar crashes and/or hangs during loading screens that don't load the level. I'm playing on a high end PC too.
@@lasthopelost9090 I'm on a 3070 on a new CPU and 64GB of DDR4 on my machine so it should handle things well, but I notice I still get stutters and delayed texture/normal map load in and I don't even have everything on ultra. Mostly a high/medium mix. I can resolve most of it if I run at 1440p instead of 4k and use FSR or DLSS. It's fine, though because the high resolution textures don't look better than the medium resolution in my opinion. Its visual sytle isn't hyper realistic.
I'd never played any soulslike before and I'm currently playing this and Bloodborne. I know it's unfair to compare it to such an iconic game but for a game that's much easier, the combat feel kind of clumsy. Having said that, I'm enjoying the game a lot, I love steampunk and the automatons here look amazing, especially Aegis.
I like how this is looking, probably pick it up soon. I tend to like the easier soulslikes, makes me think of games like Jedi Fallen Order or Darksiders 3.
I think Spiders deserve credit for how good they're getting with clothes, weapons & armor design. Like, everything looks GOOD. There's extremely few items I'd consider just there as vendor trash or loot filler.
just wanted to say man i love you you either teach me about new games ive never heard of and help me get interested in things i never would have or give me a helpful fun to listen to review for games i was already interested. like even if i am not interested in the game at all its always worth listening to your before you buys thank you man
one thing I noticed, Aegis has a very robotic tone in her voice in the early hours of the game, but after a certain point, her voice becomes much more human as do her conversations is it intentional and part of the whole story, or is it a developer oversight where the earlier stuff was already made and they decided the voice actor should sound more human? could someone answer that?
Looks like Lies of P is gonna be the culmination of Steelrising, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Really digging the recent trend of mechanical enemies in a Souls-like.
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
At the very least this is a big step up combat wise for Spiders, I'd imagine taking what they learned here and applying it to Greedfall 2 could go a long way.
I’m about 4 hours in, and I’m getting pissed. The fights are okay, the navigation is what’s bugging me. The compass tell you where to go, but there is a locked gate and no map to speak of. Yes I know it has a map of Paris, but it really isn’t helpful at all. Then there are walls you should be able to jump over but the game won’t let you. Maybe I need to upgrade agility more. I just know it’s one in the morning and I’m tired of running in circles.
This and Lie Of P look insanely similar. Unfortunately for this game, Lies Of P has a bit more of a unique premise. So I think it overshadows this game a bit.
I thought Steelrising was fantastict aye. I agree that there could be more bosses but I like that they introduce new enemy types by making them minibosses, so the minibosses feel like fully fledged bosses when you first fight them. I absolutely disagree about the fighting mechanics though, I would definitely say it's great. It's snappy and instant and satisfying. It's near the top for me in terms of souls-likes. It's far above Elden Ring and Dark Souls, maybe just bellow Bloodborne with Sekiro obviously being at the top.
@@UniqueRican yeah this game can never top fromsoft games combat believe me Been playing this game for a while and it’s a lot more clunky to play Also the normal running animation looks off The sprinting and walking is fine but man the running feels a little too slow like it’s missing a frame or two constantly It’s certainly not a bad game and I hope it does well so we get a sequel or just another spiders souls like with even better combat refinement It’s a solid 7/10 for me All the dark souls games are a 9/10 for me just to compare 🤷♂️😅
@xionliing sh the parry is a unique attack attached to some of the weapons that you find throughout the game. So you can't like have another weapon in your right hand and your parry weapon in your left kinda thing. Mechanically, it's all good, with a satisfying timing window, it also does a counter attack instead of just poise damage
The game gets so much more fun when you get your first weapon with counterattack. There is a fist weapon shortly after the first mini boss and they add a parry mechanic. That's when I started really having fun
@@caseyblankenship987 oh those are fun too. And I love to swap between those and the fists. The only thing I'm not loving is it feels like there's too long after attacking before you can dodge. That tends to make it feel a little clunky... but other than that I'm really enjoying it so far too
Haven't bought it yet but your review really helped. Love automatons. Love the French revolution setting. I was turned off by it being dark souls like but to hear it's nicer to it's players helps. It having a linear story is a big plus as the dark souls games have complicated bullshit. I'm gonna give this game a shot ounce I get the money :)
Just got on PS+, but might need to wait a bit because it looks very Lies of P. I'm just finishing up Bloodborne for the 1st time, and even some of the DLC bosses had similar attacks to bosses in Lies of P (Laurence vs Corrupted Parade Master & Maria vs Nameless Puppet). Love Lies of P, but I need a little bit of a break. Might play Surge next.
Idk I really like this game been playing for 2 hours too easy tho graphics shit but was free and just not enough games to play like this that I haven’t played before 7/10
Probably be waiting for a sale on this one. Nothing against Soulsborne clone games, but I really feel by now developers should be more creative with these. I know the gaming industry is less friendly to risk taking now days, but watching you play and describe this, the game just feel so formulaic and doesn't really make me want to go grab it on day 1.
I didnt expect to like this game so much personally. played a lot of souls like games. tried the free trial on PS5 and by the end of it i was like, "yeah, I need to beat this game." I hope the DLC was worth it. you're definitely right about the dodge mechanic being such a short window... kinda helps dodging toward attacks or just straight backward if you're having trouble.
Play Lies Of P, Is How I Understood this, looks alright, but it can be better. Everything sounds solid, executed correctly, but Lies O P Does it better
as much as I love Souls and From Software games, I really like that we get these Souls-Like games too. Mortal Shell, Steelrising, Lords of the Fallen, Lies of P,.. if you like that genre and play style then it's good to have other options besides only playing From Software games. And also it's nice that some of these like Steelrising or Mortal Shell are more bite-sized. You don't have to play a big 100 hour Dark Souls/Elden Ring campaign or something; it's more streamlined and easily digestible.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the game. Aegis is really what sold the game for me and I wasn’t disappointed. I don’t highly recommend the game, I just recommend it.
The best gaming content channel out there. Look at how long you've guys been going. Look at other channels or companies that have fallen but you guys have stood the test of time
The game is good, but for folks considering buying it I would say wait for a sale. It's still a little too "indie" for me to feel great about having spent 50 dollars.
I expected something else. This would have been a great opportunity to be a really good RPG Game like Mass Effect with some decisions in dialogues. And then they made a cheap Souls-Like, too bad. I was really interested in this because it sounded and looked really cool.
I am not a BIG Spider studios fan, but they are the first studio I got to see progressively progress in story telling and improving in details of quality quite a bit. I am fine with a game like Steel Rising because my expectations are not massive, and also find the fun in what they invest in. Animations, soundtrack, and details in general. I am replaying Greedfall and though the game isn't the BEST, I can casually play it and enjoy it.
After beating every Souls game except for Bloodborne(don't own a PS unfortunately) and DS2. I tried DS2 and it was awful in my opinion compared to the others, so I was really wanting another Souls like game that was new after I had gotten burnt out on 100 percenting Elden Ring and after this video this looks awesome and right up my alley, definitely picking this up. Imo I think every Soulslike game misses the point of the Souls game design which is why most of them are much less interesting to play, but I dont know if everyone shares that opinion. I dont like Nioh, The Surge, etc very much
@@locdogsgg9135 Lies of P is the one to wait for, not this one
@@locdogsgg9135 it plays alot like bloodborne what game are you playing

I am really looking forward for this game it looks like a souls-like game but with history and fast combat and it looks amazing can't wait to see people play it or even experience it myself!
"like a souls-like game but with history and fast combat" so... Bloodborne?
@@Ferinmel yea technically 😂
Its actually very good been playing it..honestly loving the combat more than Eldern ring it hits hard and the weapons in this game are dope.
@@jordanalberts9517 i like The game but no Elden ring plays a lot more smooth and has a lot more variety in movesets and stuff
But yeah enjoying this game so far
It’s a lot easier than fromsoft games imo also
Thymesia is better.
started playing the game today, I kinda love it. The art design is from another world :)
The animation for taking out the shield looks really dope. Love how it kind of wobbles at the end.
I really appreciate these before you buys and any other videos you guys do, youre my go to for any games releasing or just in general! ❤️
The setting and style alone caught my attention. It doesn't reinvent the wheel in gameplay but it's implemented the usual tropes well enough.
It's very friendly to new players in the soulslike genre. Definitely a good game to get you started
Glad to see someone else who likes Greedfall. I thought I was the only one. It's just a fun little game.
Who’s here because of ps plus?
Me
Humble bundle for me
This was on ps plus?!??!!! Fuck I missed it
It still is@@CMFTR-
Nobody plays on a dumb PlayStation
I was kind of hoping that the combat would feel more hack'n'slash rather than dark souls-esque. May get this game when it goes on sale.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Falcon. I was intrigued enough from watching the trailers, but it’s nice to learn more about the combat variety. Seems pretty cool
Here to see if it's worth it from PlayStation plus lol
Thanks, Falcon. Trying it out now since it's free this month. Not a big Souls-Like game guy, buuuuut, with the assist mode being set to almost max, I'll give it the ol college try.
I feel like the souls like genre is starting to get oversaturated
Idk. It's been around popular sense Zelda and Rygar, battle of Olympus.
Then the advertisement of games is way more. So I think it's always been full just not advertised as much
Is that a bad thing tho
its a good thing
setting higher expectations for future games
like elden ring and lies of p
@@godnamedtay right. To me it's great.
Starting to get? 😂 Nah, we're there.
Felt like something was missing when i was watching the gameplay and realized its the lack of music or standout sound effects. With other souls like they have very unique audio within their gameplay where you could close your eyes and know which installment you're playing, with this it kinda sounds like stock audio they got off a website.
I love Spider's RPGs. You can feel the love and care in their games. Even their janks are special to me.
rest well lizzy, you would've loved steelrising
👆👆👆Thanks to you wonderful subscriber🙏 🙏I have a present for you🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁
I know you said this game wasn’t particularly “amazing” but if this is a game that that has reliable mechanics, a cool story, and isn’t full of bugs, then its a great game in my book
Even more so because it’s an original concept, it isn’t a sequel relying on the IP of an established “universe” and it did well (unlike anthem which I still think is a cool concept
Outranking demon souls is a hot take for me.
IGN is a joke
Youll save $30 while spending $25 on a meal haha
@@rodneyabrett the requirements are pretty high it takes like rtx 2070
I tend to like the easier soulslikes, makes me think of games like Jedi Fallen Order or Darksiders 3.
its free on the ps store next week, sony revealed it for the monthly game
I think Spiders deserve credit for how good they're getting with clothes, weapons & armor design.
Like, everything looks GOOD. There's extremely few items I'd consider just there as vendor trash or loot filler.
Greedfall 2 wil be legit af
just wanted to say man i love you you either teach me about new games ive never heard of and help me get interested in things i never would have or give me a helpful fun to listen to review for games i was already interested. like even if i am not interested in the game at all its always worth listening to your before you buys thank you man
Happy to help!
one thing I noticed, Aegis has a very robotic tone in her voice in the early hours of the game, but after a certain point, her voice becomes much more human as do her conversations
is it intentional and part of the whole story, or is it a developer oversight where the earlier stuff was already made and they decided the voice actor should sound more human?
could someone answer that?
Intentional
Looks like Lies of P is gonna be the culmination of Steelrising, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Really digging the recent trend of mechanical enemies in a Souls-like.
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
Thx. Have a nice day
you too bro
The weapons are so good in this game, really satisfying
I see where Lies of P took all there inspiration now goddamn
Yes it looks just like lies of p
At the very least this is a big step up combat wise for Spiders, I'd imagine taking what they learned here and applying it to Greedfall 2 could go a long way.
I've already bought it!
Was just waiting for your video 😅
I’m about 4 hours in, and I’m getting pissed. The fights are okay, the navigation is what’s bugging me. The compass tell you where to go, but there is a locked gate and no map to speak of. Yes I know it has a map of Paris, but it really isn’t helpful at all. Then there are walls you should be able to jump over but the game won’t let you. Maybe I need to upgrade agility more. I just know it’s one in the morning and I’m tired of running in circles.
May I be honest with everyone, I've often confused this game with *Lies of P* 🌝
I've always loved Spiders.
Ever since Of Orcs and Men, I've seen that they have great potential, and I've wanted nothing but their growth and success.
I watch ur videos for the new games I find out about...
and focus more on the relaxing comentary
idk if it's just me🤔
I don't play a lot of games these days unfortunately, but these videos are a comfort to me lol.

Greedfall 2 has been announced
“It’s as if the doll from Bloodborne said “I’m doing it myself.” 🤣
Been waiting for the before you buy on this game...thanks for the review!
Glad I could help!
This and Lie Of P look insanely similar. Unfortunately for this game, Lies Of P has a bit more of a unique premise. So I think it overshadows this game a bit.
I feel falcon is sometimes scared to completely shit on a game
My favorite reviews come from you guys please always make these.
Had me in the first half but then 'above Elden Ring'.. whole comment out the window
@@UniqueRican yeah this game can never top fromsoft games combat believe me
Been playing this game for a while and it’s a lot more clunky to play
Also the normal running animation looks off
The sprinting and walking is fine but man the running feels a little too slow like it’s missing a frame or two constantly
It’s certainly not a bad game and I hope it does well so we get a sequel or just another spiders souls like with even better combat refinement
It’s a solid 7/10 for me
All the dark souls games are a 9/10 for me just to compare 🤷♂️😅
@@UniqueRican haha fair. I didn't really like Elden ring's combat that much
@xionliing sh the parry is a unique attack attached to some of the weapons that you find throughout the game. So you can't like have another weapon in your right hand and your parry weapon in your left kinda thing. Mechanically, it's all good, with a satisfying timing window, it also does a counter attack instead of just poise damage
Decent game, but nowhere near the level of elden ring and dark souls 3
The game gets so much more fun when you get your first weapon with counterattack. There is a fist weapon shortly after the first mini boss and they add a parry mechanic. That's when I started really having fun
I really started to love it when I got the dual swords the combat got so much more fluid and I’m loving it
@@caseyblankenship987 oh those are fun too.
How is dark souls complicated? You use 3 buttons, lock on, attack, and roll
Haven't even heard of this game, but love this channel

Idk I really like this game been playing for 2 hours too easy tho graphics shit but was free and just not enough games to play like this that I haven’t played before 7/10

Falcons voice - 10/10
Amount of milky sewage - 1/1
french dark souls, i dig it
Hon hon hon! Accoutrements! C'est la vie!
This game is like breaking bad

Added it to my GameFly queue. Not sure I'd spend $50 for it on Steam or $60 on console, but yeah I'd rent it based on what I'm seeing here.

love this shit. I only get to game maybe an hour or two a week but I watch all your content to keep me in the loop
Thanks for watching.
Why is every reference allmost to 'souls games'? Is that really the peak of these 'types of games'?
Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the game. Aegis is really what sold the game for me and I wasn’t disappointed. I don’t highly recommend the game, I just recommend it.
10/10 review as always 👍
Idc about the varying quality joke but the Technomancer is an underrated -almost- masterpiece RPG

The game is good, but for folks considering buying it I would say wait for a sale. It's still a little too "indie" for me to feel great about having spent 50 dollars.
Oh man good thing I watched this video before downloading it from PS+ I absolutely HATE games like this
enemy design looks amazing. that alone would sell me on this game.
Sucks the Queen never got to play this game
Lmaooo
I wanted to say it looks like Greedfall then I realized its from the same developer. Interesting to see how they have improve.
Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth
I expected something else. This would have been a great opportunity to be a really good RPG Game like Mass Effect with some decisions in dialogues. And then they made a cheap Souls-Like, too bad. I was really interested in this because it sounded and looked really cool.
maybe dont use someone elses opinion and play it yourself itsa great game and breathe of fresh air for souls like games
Nice
I honestly feel like I saw this game somewhere before. Not Steelrising but a game based of the same thing with a similar story line..
Been playing for a few hours and definitely got BB vibes. Happy with my purchase
Thanks gameranx 👌🍻
Would be cool to see this on PS Plus Extra.
I think I'm gonna buy this game after watching the gameplay and also your review. Yeahhh it looks fun.. Definitely gonna try playing it.
