I thought I would hate the Martyr blade because of how slow it would be and how much stamina it eats. But paired with Tiel for the extra stamina and poison damage, it wrecks almost everything. Heavy attacks have small/medium enemies get thrown away off their feet and larger ones almost always get staggered. The running heavy attack in particular does massive damage and the reach is so long that enemies won't have time to attack you if they are far away enough. The freezing AoE special is the cherry on top.

Eredim + Martyr's Blade. AKA The Giant Dad build of Mortal Shell. You can tank hits, ignore stagger while also inflicting a lot; every kill without getting smacked the shit out of the Shell increases your damage. On top of that, thanks to Eredim's ability to inflict more stagger, the Martyr's Blade can handle several enemies at once sending them back flying with each strike, often being able to stunlock even larger enemies or Bosses, pummeling them to death without giving them a chance to recover and counter. And, obviously, if it ain't stunned, it will be frozen.
For me Hallowed Sword is the best weapon... Very easy to use, well balanced damage and not consuming too much stamina... It's best with Harros and Solomon which are the main shell I used in the game...
This game is legit, it being souls like is the appeal. Upon playing i realized its more than just being a souls like game and im really digging it. I've platinumed all souls games and bloodborne and sekiro. This is my before elden ring game.
I stuck with the Hallowed sword as I found it easier to master. I have the combos down and i jave mastered the range of the running attack. This sword fits me quite well as does the forst shell - Harros the Vassal. Upgrading this shell gives me more chances to harden during a fight which is very important to a noob player like myself 😂
Mortal shell is on game pass and I just downloaded a mod for blade and sorcery for some of the weapons so I decided to download it while playing the game and listening to this video
Hammer and chisel all the way the best weapon in game hands down once u get the 1st weapon ability for it and the item from the corrupted sester that allows ur resolve meter to fill faster and u can kill bosses or any enemy with complete ease never taking a hit or losing resolve...once I figure this out the game has been super easy I even beat the martyr 1st go by just hitting him over and over with the weapon ability since its fastest weapon it also builds resolve faster allowing u to never run out of resolve especially if u play as Solomon
kinda put the hallowed sword in a bad light. It's definitely the best weapon since it does high damage and swings faster than the longer weapons. The powered strikes you do with it are also very good since they stun or knock down just about every enemy in the game
Now THIS! is an indie game. i hate those repetitive pixelated roguelikes. Anyway, i might main the martyr's sword just because of how badass the special is. Currently using the hallowed sword. I'm new to the game.
My favorite combo was Tiel (the stamina shell) and the hammer and chisel, you could attack so much and got a lot of damage in, I upgraded it all the way, except for the second ability because I never found the piece. I beat the final boss with it
I’m destroying with Harros fully upped and the hollow sword. i disagree with the vids that say harros and the hollow blade are middle of the road. i mean they are balanced but once you’ve upped them, there’s no stopping the combo. after a hard time in the temple of ash and some grinding i did the eternal narthex with no problems at all. died only once from falling on that damned stair with the crossbows. great game
I just noticed that during the combos with the Hallow sword he grabs the blade end of the sword and uses it as a bat hitting the enemy with the hilt. How awesome is that????
Honestly i think the Halowed sword is the best weapon in the game. For me the least good one is the hammer and chisel unless ure using Eredin as ur shell because that weapon often doesnt stagger the enemies which is a pain since u have to harden and then run away and all other weapons u can continue to hit them. Poison dmg barelly does anything as well if they buff poison then it will make the weapon way better. My second favorite is the Fire mace since once u get the "infinite" resolve with the corrupt sester, u can spam the second ability and just blow up everything and it works prtty well on Bosses too.
After seeing these weapons now the game will feel slightly easier 😜 and looks amazing! I need that ice sword! Because when you freeze the enemy's u get a chance to heal ;) and the Bazooka bolt I love the animation on reload
Hammer & Chisel is disgusting! I love them, hardly ever use anything else. This game has been amazing and I hope the reception encourages the dev's to make more content
The mace is slightly woese than the zweihander IMO? Slightly less stamina used per swing on mace... But the mace also has about half the reach, less damage per swing and slow start-up on the heavy attacks.
If you're trying for "ranged dps" I'm not sure you could implement that outside of using solomon with the hammer/chisel plus ballistazooka. With solomon you would have the most uptime with the hammer/chis double trigger ability
@@CoolArrow78233 idk if that’s what this was about but the martyr sword is the one with the ice AoE weapon art no ? If so that one look like a cryomancer imo

I started chuckling to myself last night after I beat the game for the first time and then starting new game plus, I BARELY fixed the ballistazooka. So yeah, the whole game I missed out on launching mobs and making them go splat
That thing's so broken I love it The first light attack are 3 consecutive attacks and honestly if all 3 connect you do more damage then 1 swing from the martyrs blade Paired with Eredrim you stun and destroy anything in your path
2 strongest are Hammer and Hallowed Sword. Way more versatile due to higher attack speed. The Hallowed Sword's resolve attack is ridiculous. Mace and Greatsword are too slow and aren't as good against the bosses, although the bosses in this game are all easy, anyway.
I can't help but think the giant greatsword is doing surprisingly low damage considering the light attack seems to be slicing through every enemy in the area...
Depends. Combat feels good most of the time, but its very short, doesn't have the usual "build" variety of souls-like games, and, after the first hour or so, when you get upgrades, the game becomes pretty easy. Pick it up after Dark Souls trilogy imo.
Wait what? I finished the game with the default weapon 😭😭😭 Upgraded it to +4 and that's it. Also stuck to Harros cause of his Glimpse-centric stats all the way. I must replay this game.

My favorite combo was Tiel (the stamina shell) and the hammer and chisel, you could attack so much and got a lot of damage in, I upgraded it all the way, except for the second ability because I never found the piece. I beat the final boss with it
I enjoy martyr blade cause its pretty easy and fun to use, you can throw them off of cliffs if you're in the right enviornment.
Good show , thanks
How I viewed it
Martyr's Blade and the Smoldering Mace are STR+INT weapons
Hammer & Chisel is DEX
Hollowed sword is a quality build, STR and DEX
I love the “mini boss” description, saving any possibility of spoilers for the game. Much appreciated.
I’m destroying with Harros fully upped and the hollow sword. i disagree with the vids that say harros and the hollow blade are middle of the road. i mean they are balanced but once you’ve upped them, there’s no stopping the combo. after a hard time in the temple of ash and some grinding i did the eternal narthex with no problems at all. died only once from falling on that damned stair with the crossbows. great game
Def going big sword
Give it to Eredrim with the poise-breaking skill and you'll stagger *anything*
I'm gonna be checking this game out soon since it's one of the free PS+ games this month.
Those are some good animations. And well, camera shots for the specials add so much dynamism
I'm hoping you do a video in simular format for shells. Dissecting the shells strengths and weaknesses
Dude... I love longswords but that mace is literal fire
I love the mace. Awesome
I just noticed that during the combos with the Hallow sword he grabs the blade end of the sword and uses it as a bat hitting the enemy with the hilt. How awesome is that????
Great video as always, keep up the nice work!
Balistizooka : bringing gun into sword fight 😂😂
The only correct choice is the Ballistazooka, of course!
Hammer & Chisel is disgusting! I love them, hardly ever use anything else. This game has been amazing and I hope the reception encourages the dev's to make more content
Smoldering mace is awesome for me
The twohanded great sword kinda reminds me of the GS in mhw. It’s kinda the same dynamic with the harden being the shoulder tackle in this game
I like the smoldering mace cause of the running attack
Nice vídeo, thankyou
Smoldering Mace: enchanted match stick
Martyrs Blade: enchanted icicle
Hammer and Chisel: Sculpture's Best Friend
Hallowed Sword: Sneak attack!
Martyrs blade + Tiel is god tier
The sword you start with is my favorite weapon
Y'alls need to learn the LHLH for the hallowed sword.. it's da bomb!
Tiel + Martyr Blade +5 = 1- or 2-shot every single mob.
The only time you’ll need to change is for The Unchained, IMO.
I did unchained like this earlier today at +3
The mace is slightly woese than the zweihander IMO?
Slightly less stamina used per swing on mace... But the mace also has about half the reach, less damage per swing and slow start-up on the heavy attacks.
Dot damage tho
So basically if you want to be a mage; equip the shell with highest resolve and equip the martyr sword.
Just downloaded the game, going to start tonight. I love mages. Why do you say Martyr Sword for mage?
If you're trying for "ranged dps" I'm not sure you could implement that outside of using solomon with the hammer/chisel plus ballistazooka. With solomon you would have the most uptime with the hammer/chis double trigger ability
@@CoolArrow78233 idk if that’s what this was about but the martyr sword is the one with the ice AoE weapon art no ? If so that one look like a cryomancer imo
@@CoolArrow78233 a mage build doesn’t necessarily need to be ranged. It needs to use elemental effects and look…well magical
I have the platinum trophy for this game i had a lot of fun. Solomon is by far the best character and hollowed sword and hammer & chisel best weapons.
Use the hammer and chisel to charge up your resolve and then switch to your other weapon to spam then special attack
The pick is really good with Solomon. I beat almost every boss without upgrading until the world changes the first time.
thanks for using the proper terms for heavy and light attacks. hate it when ppl use the buttons presses,, like we all know what an R1 or whatever is.
gonna have to look uo how to use the resolve moves now somewhere. would have been nice if you included it here.
Agreed. I actually use X and Y not the shoulder buttons because it's a more common layout that I'm used to, and they are more durable.
I started chuckling to myself last night after I beat the game for the first time and then starting new game plus, I BARELY fixed the ballistazooka. So yeah, the whole game I missed out on launching mobs and making them go splat
I picked up Marty blade
And smoldering mace
Heavy armor shell and the zweihander.
Literally the best and easiest to manage.
Hammer and Chisel all the way. Slaughter any bosses.
Me too
That thing's so broken I love it
The first light attack are 3 consecutive attacks and honestly if all 3 connect you do more damage then 1 swing from the martyrs blade
Paired with Eredrim you stun and destroy anything in your path
2 strongest are Hammer and Hallowed Sword. Way more versatile due to higher attack speed. The Hallowed Sword's resolve attack is ridiculous. Mace and Greatsword are too slow and aren't as good against the bosses, although the bosses in this game are all easy, anyway.
I can't help but think the giant greatsword is doing surprisingly low damage considering the light attack seems to be slicing through every enemy in the area...
Would you guys recommend this game? my first souls like game was bloodbourne and fell in love with it.
Definitely, strongly 100%
It's really good but try dark souls 3 if you haven't yet!
Agree, Dark Souls 3 first! Plus it has PVP👍
Depends. Combat feels good most of the time, but its very short, doesn't have the usual "build" variety of souls-like games, and, after the first hour or so, when you get upgrades, the game becomes pretty easy. Pick it up after Dark Souls trilogy imo.
I've never played a soul's game, but love BloodBourne, too. I would absolutely recommend this game!
How this game play is and weapons mechanic work's i would like to see more of this game 😁 Stay safe everyone 😊✌
Really enjoyed this game
Any weapon/shell pairings you'd recommend?
I used the hammer and chisel cause dual wielding is sickkkk
Wait what? I finished the game with the default weapon 😭😭😭
Upgraded it to +4 and that's it. Also stuck to Harros cause of his Glimpse-centric stats all the way. I must replay this game.
great vid, thanks
"Big ICE AOE." I see what you did there ;)
