I ride an Indian and a Harley, they are both great bikes, wouldn't give either up. Indian feels a bit more refined, Harley a bit more raw (riding, fit and finish is great on both). This is not a plus or minus for either brand, just a notable difference. Most importantly, the competition between the 2 will end up with better bikes for everyone.

I just bought an Indian Roadmaster a week ago. I have 700 miles on it now. This is my first full touring bike and I love it!!! It was a little top heavy for me at first but now I am getting used to it. I went from a Yamaha 1300 touring to the new Indian. It has great throttle response and the infotainment system is awesome. Lots of bike info and of course Bluetooth capability. I just love it!!!

3 things that I am super impressed with. Indian's suspension; nearly TWICE that of a HD at the rear end. An adjustable screen. Very handy for when you need protection, or down when you want the breeze. The details; lockable panniers; a pocket at the front with USB port and room for your mobile phone. Super impressive motor with a great note. (Did I mention details)? It's the sort of bike that would have me looking back to admire it as I walk away. And that's after over 40 years of Harleys.

I come from a Harley family. Father, grandfather, uncles, and aunts. When I was 14 I saw a slammed indian with a 20in front tire with round sexy lines. I always had it in the back of my mind but never spoke about it to my family. For years I always built my bikes. Into my mid 30s I had my finances and responsibilities in order and was looking to buy a new bike, no more working on bikes. Of course I ended up on my local Harley lot. I knew what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend. I found a nice slightly used bike and was ready to buy. Original Salesman was great and helpful but when he took my info and credit another Salesman came out and tried to push me onto a brand new Harley cruiser I didn't want. I firmly asserted I liked what I came there to see " you don't want that" he keep saying so I left. Next day I slipped into an Indian dealership. They were helpful, informative, and not pushy at all. I settled for a 2015 chieftain with the 111 thunderstroke. I love my bike it's heavy but low to the ground and very well balanced. I outrun everyone in my family and get a lot of crap on rides, I just respond "can your bike do this" and raise my windshield. They just laugh and hang their heads.
The only downside I have with indian is their lack of aftermarket parts, and apparel. The radio can't really be modified because the module is wired through controls of bike. It can be modified through a custom shop but will void warranty. But as far as the bike itself I love my chieftain.

My Harley Electra Glide Classic developed a high speed wobble so I bought a new front motor mount and started researching how to change the rear motor mounts / isolators. Before I did anything I checked the tire pressures. Damn, I had been riding on only 24 psi when my tires should be 32 psi. Now no wobble. Tire pressure monitoring is nice. Getting on your knees with a $1.99 tire pressure gauge once a week is probably sufficient. I had not checked the pressures for months so I was very wrong. Would I buy an Indian? Not at the price. They haven’t even claimed a profit in years, the last however many years Harley is claiming millions and millions in losses on taxes. I’d love to own a Harley as well one day, but the premium your paying for the name is unreal when your not getting much for your money. Are there great Harley Davidsons out there? After watching the video: 5 I have the RDRS system on mine, so having tire pressure monitoring, traction control and a rain mode so, no advantage there. 6 The 111 is comparable to the 114, so I do not see an advantage there, they are both aircooled engines with push rods. The windshield is w/e it reminds me of the people that get detachable windshields, 99% of the time it is ether off or on, there are very few people that will put it on or take it off regularly.
