Dude, you've got a couple of videos that I consider the Gold Standard of explanation of a concept or mechanic that I always refer people to in order to help them understand something. They are simple, succinct, but not condescending and those are essential characteristics to helping people understand something. Your "How to shoot if you're cross eye dominant" is one and this one is definitely another that I will use to refer new or relatively new shooters to to help them understand. Well done!
I took my first shooting class earlier this year and I was kinda disappointed. I had already heard everything from all the phenomenal, free videos Trex puts out (and other shooters). I actually ended up beating all my classmates in the final competition-style drill (including mil and le guys), despite being the youngest there. It basically just served as a confidence booster, since I was able to gauge my skills against others. Big thanks to the whole Trex crew for their dedication to instilling good firearms skills
@@ronnelson6476 Start going to competitions, USPSA, you can see how you line up against other people that actually shoot all the time and not people that just want to take a class and call it good
HickLife The point of my comment is that if I can get to the point I’m at, through just watching videos and practicing, anyone can do it. I didn’t mean I’m a phenomenal shooter because I beat some people at a class (it was a 2 day pistol course with people who genuinely wanted to better themselves). There were some guys there who had taken 8+ classes but they were still getting beat. I just don’t want people to waste money on tons of classes when they could spend that money on ammo, which has a better return on investment in my opinion.
Now I know why people say dry fire more, it's so you can feel when the gun will fire then drive the gun once the round fired. That was a complete game changer for me blew my mind!
It also establishes muscle memory. You finger remembers how to pull the trigger the correct way when you are live firing and/or experiencing an adrenaline dump
Yeah that's basically it. And the video that lucas did with the Japanese airsofter kid - in this channel - is the perfect embodiment of the dry fire techniques

@@holynder3181 No, dummy rounds-- they're just cast aluminum (I think, based on weight) with a little silicone pad thing where a primer would go to give your firing pin somewhere soft (but not too soft) to land. I am a retired FLEO, You contradicted at least three things that I was trained to do when flying. All three of them make more sense than how I was trained. The stiff elbows, the surprise shot, and the slingback rack. Makes very good sense
So true. I’ve taken 2 classes over 7 years. There was some good info, but weekly live fire and dry fire multiple times per week is what really improved me.
In a way it seems like trainers are creating their own demise by putting so much information online for free. You can learn just about anything online. Classes are becoming more like just "doctor checkups" so someone trained can watch you and provide specific feedback you might not get on your own.

8:50 This isn't mentioned enough, and it's very important. Some tips that worked for me: 1. After your shot breaks don't move the gun -- Note where your front sights are. Align your sights and know what that feels like. Rinse & repeat and get reps in. Also: 2. Dump a mag. You'll learn what it feels like to control the gun and what your grip needs to be. 3. repeat step 1.
6:08 “letting the shot surprise you” means do not anticipate recoil by nosediving the pistol. It’s a baby step training technique not one you employ for the duration of your fire arms usage. By the time you can find the wall accurately and know EXACTLY where that shot breaks, you should have an equal understanding of the recoil impulse your pistol imparts. Making over compensation not a thing.
I have a friend who keeps "nosediving" the pistol everytime he pulls the trigger. I constantly tell him not to do that and he insists on doing it telling me it helps him shoot accurately when he can't even hit center mass at 10 yards. He has no training yet he came to me to help him after I discharged from Service.
I’m a first time gun user / owner and I purchased a Glock Gen3 series I watched lots of videos and titulars on TH-cam on how to used ,pull-down, and clean my pistol, this here video is the must quick ,easy and knowledge jam packed video ,I dry practiced after watching this video went to the range for the first time in my life with my brothers and I couldn’t convince them that I don’t own or ever used a gun before they said I was lying , I only wanted this video about 30 + times , I seldom misses my targets, never paid for lessons only watched videos on TH-cam that’s all I did.

Love the content. Been watching a lot of your videos lately and started to practice dry firing and would love to see a video of the proper way to grab both pistol and rifle magazines like you do in your speed reloads. Since it’s something new to me and probably a lot of others, practicing something incorrectly will not give the best results possible. Yes it seems simple, but like this video so does shooting a pistol to a lot of people, but practice makes perfect and perfect practice is the best way to do it. Thanks!

I don’t buy “brand” stuff, tacticool or lifestyle things. But I find myself buying all things Trex; functional and it supports the guys that encourages new gun owners to learn without breaking the bank.
I’ve been shooting over 25 years. This guy is legit with a ton of very helpful information in a short span of time delivered in a very digestible format. High praise from me.

Well done!

Is there anything you disagree with him on?
This guy is an absolutely EXCELLENT communicator and educator on top of his demonstrated extremely high level of skill. What a beast.

Next step find a beginner level class and find people better than you to learn from
@@Nagger666 not if he's the best
Andrew nah, next step is to shoot 20k rounds of 9mm and then take a more challenging class
I’m fairly new to gun ownership I’ve owned my glock for about two years now and I go to the range a lot and I’ve became a better shooter but this video literally made me think of all the things I could be doing better my biggest issue with shooting my glock is trigger control I’m okay at it but definitely need to work on it. Very informative video man thanks a lot.
I am still a pretty new shooter, and still deal with a bit of shot anticipation. What has really helped me is a buddy loads a couple mags with an unknown amount of bullets in it, you will see if you still are anticipating the shot pretty quickly.
Add a couple dummy rounds to your mag, will help as well
@@recon4840 blanks?
@@holynder3181 No, dummy rounds-- they're just cast aluminum (I think, based on weight) with a little silicone pad thing where a primer would go to give your firing pin somewhere soft (but not too soft) to land. No pyrotechnics. They're used for manipulation training and dry-fire. Commonly called Snap Caps.
Brother/ there is no better teacher then to practice, practice what you’ve learned, record yourself if alone to see if your repeating your errors. Yeah, you would need dummy rounds. Otherwise, the slide will lock back, and you'll know when it's empty
Oh man the trainers are gonna be mad at you now. lol I almost feel like this video was a direct response to the common institutional trend. Coming from someone without infinite resources I thank you and greatly appreciate it.
P.S I saw a kid with one of your hats at Lowes in Louisville. Love from your northern state neighbor.
I used a pistol all the time in the Marines and still enjoy watching this video. It's nice to go back to the foundation and correct bad habits from years of shooting.
No offense to some of these older guys making videos but it’s nice to see someone who knows TH-cam like they know guns. Not only was this very clear, concise, and thorough but the movie tidbits provided a visual example of his points based on our current perception from Hollywood.
8:40 - well said. One of the biggest misconceptions in the gun world that is taught and parroted has to do with this point.
I love how simple and effective this video is, I feel like many other institutions who try to educate about guns don’t want really want the viewers to be as good as them, they just want mediocre, Lucas on other actually wants people to be good, mad respect
It's nice seeing someone from the new generation instruct other shooters the correct way, instead of the way old instructors would have you do things. I personally had an old school instructor teach me a lot of things, but I learned over time that it was the wrong way. It's very refreshing to watch this video and see that I'm doing things the correct way currently, and our generation is able to remaster the technique to strive for perfection. Nice job Lucas! Keep up the great work.

Oh damn he’s going to ruffle feathers by saying you don’t have to take 20 classes a year to learn to shoot.
James Yeager is in shambles after hearing that
You don’t. But you do have to practice!
So true. I’ve taken 2 classes over 7 years. There was some good info, but weekly live fire and dry fire multiple times per week is what really improved me.
Trent Sconiers Yeager teaches how to fight, not shooting classes
In a way it seems like trainers are creating their own demise by putting so much information online for free. You can learn just about anything online. Classes are becoming more like just "doctor checkups" so someone trained can watch you and provide specific feedback you might not get on your own.

- Simply is always training & is one of the best in business IMO... 🔥🤘🏽🇺🇸
Brah, that's a woman
8:50 This isn't mentioned enough, and it's very important.
Some tips that worked for me:
1. After your shot breaks don't move the gun -- Note where your front sights are.
Align your sights and know what that feels like.
Rinse & repeat and get reps in.
Also:
2. Dump a mag. You'll learn what it feels like to control the gun and what your grip needs to be.
3. repeat step 1.
I’ll never understand why you catch so much hate, straight to the point video explaining what’s needed🤷🏽♂️
That’s one reason instructors hate me 😂
Everything was just perfect. Camera shots, editing, to the point dialogue and REAL INFORMATION that I can actually use.
True. You get used to the surprise over time. But at first its good to let it surprise you.
Been using your warm up targets and drill... my game has gone up *tremendously*. Thank you so much for those Lucas and T.Rex.
I won't need to learn that much
I just press "R".
And throw my magazine away. Ita empty it's not like I'm gonna need to use it again to put more bullets into.
scroll the mouse wheel to change weapon, you also have a knife in your pocket by default
