      With some obvious exceptions, the US Military's Small Arms Training has been in dire need of new thinking and overhaul for a long time now. Most of the personnel I've seen fresh out of basic and advanced training are lacking in even fundamental skills and to the point they need and should be re-trained so they can be moved to more advanced weapon handling skills that build and allow them to confidently maintain those perishable skills. The Military does in fact have very good basic and advanced marksmanship instructors and advanced weapon skill instructors but the overall basic and advanced programs could use some valuable forward thinking changes. Some may agree or disagree with my, it's just my 30+ years of experience & seeing what does and doesn't work well over those years.

      @@atlanticdefense3818 As a former 6 year Army Infantryman, I completely agree. I entered the Army without ever having handled a firearm in my life. I was age 20. I was actually surprisingly good, but my Drill Sergeant chocked it up to me not having bad habits related to prior firearms experience.
      After I was in the Army a few years, I noticed many people coming out of basic and into my unit with really mediocre shooting skills. I eventually retrained most of the people who were fresh out of basic. Don't even get me started on shooting with anyone who aren't in combat roles. Their marksmanship training is laughable at best. It all needs a big overhaul. This video is excellent and this guy has zero military experience. Just good training. I love it.

    WOW! I've been in a tactical unit for 4 years and have trained with a large number of experienced instructors, but I've always found that my accuracy was not where I wanted it to be will rapid firing. Instructors would always tell me to "tighten that up" but none would take the time to explain how to or tell me what exactly I needed to change. No one has ever explained me how to manage recoil in such a detailed way as you just did. Thanks Lucas!!

In my opinion, you are right up there with Travis Haley and Todd Hodnett in that regard, who I have been lucky enough to learn from also. Instant subscriber, but I feel like a bit of an idiot that I just learned of your channel.

    When I went through MCT in 2013, the instructors taught the "feet shoulder width apart, only slightly offset" and I remember it pissed me off so much because it's horrible for recoil management. I would try to sneak my right foot back to get a better base and I would get smoked when I got caught. Pretty sad Lucas is doing a better job teaching rifle shooting than the Marine Corps at the time.

    • @untitledname1703
      @untitledname1703 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Your instructors sucked because when I went through in 2010 they told us to get that leg back more and lean into it to reduce the recoil. When I trained my Marines I taught the exact same as this video. This kid is doing a wonderful job and actually keeping his content reliable and accurate.

    Predictive (as predictive as a gun is capable of consistent grouping) and recoil control can be the difference between bullets hitting on point or controlling a fully auto to throw some rounds down range, to some bullets jumping up more than you could imagine. Knowing your gun, and essentially making it an extension to your own body is crucial Thx for the video.
