got these in november and honestly they were amazing. Noise cancelling and sound quality were both great. Unfortunately the rubber material on the headband came apart after less than 6 months and after a quick look online this is a really common issue. I refunded and got the Sony XM4 instead. I honestly prefer the usability of the surface headphones. Those dials are so handy. Whilst the sony ANC and audio is better, the touch controls are so temperamental. The sad thing is that designing the headband to not come apart is such a simple thing to do but they didnt do it
Microsoft's hardware game is unreal - can't believe they've progressed so much in this area.

The ring control and multiple device support sold me. The audio difference among this level is minor for my middle age ears, but being able to instantly switch to my phone and the ring are a bigger deal.

Thanks. Multi device support is a big deal. Having that and being $100 cheaper, I go for Surface probably. Better UX is not just about the better look, but also functionality. I would also argue that the sound quality difference is only noticeable when you compare them head-to-head. Surface sound is probably good "enough".

Well, based on your reviews I made my choice to purchase my 1000Xm3 with no regrets. I just love it.
Personally, I’m willing to compromise some * sound quality for other features. Style is important for anything you wear. Price is obviously huge when speaking to value. But features like multi device support are a must for me.

I cant believe the Sonys don't have multiple device support. I have the cheap Sennheiser BT4.40s and they support up to 2 devices simultaneously and I always assumed that all the higher end headphones have this as standard.

Sony literally has an issue with connectivity. Enrages me as to how good they sound and how bad they are with wireless connectivity.
with the sonies if you have your phone on you you can tap it on the NFC to pair it and unpair even it's already connected to different device, just a little trick I learnt the other day for when they're still connected to my laptop :)

My 6 year old SOL Republic Tracks Air does all this "there is x hours left" when turn on, there is even a voice menu for configuration, and all that connect to various devices seamlessly.
The audio is not great (basshead) but come on, it's a shame for Sony or any brand of premium bluetooth headphones not having those features in 2020

I have the Sony XM3's and listen with 35 - 45% volume, which is pretty sufficient for me.
Forreal, I have the first version of the Sony's, and comfortable listening volume is like 20%

I have come across so many people being unaware of the dangers of listening at high volume. I always try to talk them into lowering it.
Eh I have my XM3s at 70-80% when I'm really jamming hard and ~40% for normal listening. The XM3 in ears I tend to have at 80-100% since I'm normally listening on the train or on the street and they're not as powerful as the over ears. I'm well aware of the danger of high volumes, but I don't listen via headphones all that often so it's a bit whatever
The Microsoft headphones are a better deal imo since they're 100 dollars cheaper and have many features the sony one doesn't have, a small sacrifice in sound quality isn't so bad.

Depends. If you use Spotify it decreases the volume to make it even across all songs.
If someone say that they need to keep volume at 2/3 in Spotify that's a very high volume.

@@yesto9676 depends on apps on what your using them on. some apps or even computer programs can make max level feel alot lower than it is. also if you using it wired but its not on then its not as loud as the wireless part.
i use to use the xm3 always wired but never used the wireless. after using wireless for a bit i realized that its much louder using the wireless function than using it wired but xm3 not actually on if that makese sense.

I got my Sony XM3 for $270 and I don't think they worth the price. I expected much more from them. In my opinion all the NC headphones are ovehyped and not as good yet as they're advertised by Marques and others.
If Sonys are the best, I imagine how bad are the other ones.

I got my XM3s for €250 are and theyre sweet. I dont have any problems with them. The NC is good and help me cancel all the sound around me. The only things is that it doesnt cancel well are human voices but the technology will be better in the future. Overall I love
