  • Today we thought we would give you some info on how to rebuild your S&S Shorty Super E and let you know just how and why it works. I love these carbs and I use them when ever I can. I know there are many different choices out there and many who like other brands but each to their own. Hope you enjoy this video and maybe learn a little something. Enjoy!

    Nice job on explaining one question! You removed a spring under one of the balls in the pump housing, you took it out but did not replace it! Does it need to be under that one ball or ok to not re install. Don't remember having one in mine however took it off several months ago. Please Advise if you still have your channel. Thanks Again Spot on description no guessing

      I know it wasn't shown specifically, but it did go back in and you need it there, under the ball. I had the question before here is what I replied to another commenter. I think if you look close you will see ball sitting up on top of the spring. (18:35) If it was not there it would be deeper in the hole like the other Ball Bearing. If you look at 18:28, when I am putting the "O" ring in you will see the spring sticking up. Wish I had been more clear about that but when you shoot a lot of video sometimes a small detail might not be clear enough. Thanks for commenting and hope this helps.

      Hello There should be a nipple on the top rear of the carb near the throttle cable support, or on the manifold itself, to hook it to. Unfortunatly some of the earlier S&S carbs, for shovels, did not have one. Good luck. Thanks for the question.

    Can you post a video of how to replace the S&S E accelerator pump nozzle that is pressed in. The is not any info out there..

    • @itsmytimeletsgo
      @itsmytimeletsgo  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi I do not have one to play with here, to just pull the tube out of. That is not a normal thing but according to what I can find you should be able to pull it out and then press and new one in. If your spray is the problem you can clean the top slot out with a razor blade to make sure its clear. You could check with S&S tech department themselves for the exact safe procedure. Good question. 124 s&s b2 heads, 640cam, super G, 78main/31int & haven't checked the main jet air bleed size, 2in one exhaust, traditional teardrop s&s filter. I have a bit of lean pop really low in the rpm in low residential type speeds. Im thinking on fattening up my intermediate by one size. Unless you think I should spend more time on the accelerator pump adjustment? Its snappy, idles great but that low roll on rpm is not the smoothest. What do you think Doc? Am I dying? Lol

      Wow it sounds like a beast! I am not really sure what to say about your problem as when it gets to big motors they often have some issue somewhere. I would work with the accelerator pump a bit but if you can't get it that way then I would step up the intermediate jet one size and reajust things from there. Good luck! Thanks for the question and commenting.

      Thanks for the question. Iron head with Super E tend to be on the rich side at times. Typicaly S&S will suggest on motors (55 to 74 ci) between .0625' to .0295" ( depending on the work done on the engine). Main jets are suggested to be .062" to .072". I think you have a good starting point. Things to remember are if the engine back fires through the carb it is usually a lean condition, if it backfires, or pops, through the exhaust then it can be a rich condition. If you find , when kicking it that you need to reprime the carb between kicking, and it is spitting out the carb then it is lean. If there is no response after 3 kicks, and it pops out the exhaust, then it is rich and also if the throttle has to be slightly open, to draw in more air to thin out the mixture, it could show a rich condition. Tuning the carb can take trial and error to figure out just what it needs. Every motor is different. Hope this helps you out with your selection of jets. Thanks for the question and commenting.
