  • For all your fiberglass and paint restoration and diy needs be sure to visit www.FGCI.com or visit your local Fiberglass Coatings Inc for the best in customer service, quality and value. Go with the best!
    In this video I team up with my friend Chelsea to create “Coco Loco”, the ultimate sandbar skiff boat setup to sell fresh fruit and açaí bowls at the local sandbar.
    This boat started as 2 different catamaran hulls that we then repurposed / recycled and turned into the ultimate sandbar skiff! Rescued from the junkyard and now ready to cruise the sandbar!

    Man, you make it look fun. The limited experience I have with fiberglass would not have me wanting to start a build. But these videos make me want to reexplore the craft. Probably better techniques, and it seems like WAY better products and support! Shout out to FGCI !!!

    Hey man, just found your channel. I'm an old Florida boat builder myself. I love this project. I live in Ohio now and am just setting my little boat building shop up here at my house. I have been kicking around the idea of building some small watercraft, canoes and kayaks, etc. But I have always wanted a Proa. You hit the nail on the head with this build. I wish I had a composites supply store near me like the ones in Florida...damn I miss Fiberglass Supply! I don't know if you're into sailing at all, but that boat would be super cool with a simple sailing rig too. Love it! New sub.

      Thank you so much, for taking the time to write and share this and for the positive energy. I appreciate it! Very cool to hear what you’ve got going and I’m stoked to hear others stories/endeavors. I like the idea a lot with a sailing rig and would seriously consider making one of these for bahamas adventures. I have a long range trip I want to make in the upcoming fall. You might have just helped pushed me over the proa cliff for this ! Haha. Cheers buddy!

      @@diywaterworld I just moved back from Thailand about 9 months ago, after over 5 years there and I travelled to Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Phillipines. I saw a lot of Proas and Trimarans. I used to work with a boat builder called Axium Boatworks there in Stuart, FL. Mark Kettering is the owner Engineer, he designed and built the AM series of folding Trimarans, they would hit about 25-28 knots under sail, if I remember right. I love your repurposing of that old deck boat. You could just about do a version of Matt Laydens Paradox and have a Microcruising Proa. That would be pretty bad-ass! Thanks for responding so quickly. Keep up the energy man, it's really good to see.

      I bought a 1974 26ft marine clipper and am planning on going southern Alaska with my pack of dogs. Looking at adding a 6ft wide by 20ft long top deck with 7ft tall ceiling inside that cabin space. I have a 98 gtx 782cc that I want to put that motor and drive behind my swing keel so I can mount a 8hp-20hp on back and use that as my Rutter as my boat's rutter wasn't included in sale. Im designing the mast to be stored on extending mounts to make shit into a huge tarp tent I wanna explore rainforest areas and although im learning to sail from TH-cam I have no experience. I worked as a fiberglasser building bayliner boats and realize this is a lake sailboat and im turning it into a motoring sailboat/barge. Currently boat is 2400lbs I would like to keep under 4000lbs cockpit will be removed along with old cabin and most of top as side walk around will be eliminated. Rear and sides fold down side walk platforms will replace this feature and make a wider walk area without taking up inside cabin space. This will still be able to go on my trailer and down the road under bridges as top deck is 7 ft from inside of rear of boat so semi trailer will still be taller than my boat. My bedroom will be in rear of boat and 2 doors on each sidei n front of my room. The top deck also has fold down 5 ft tall side rail trampolines straps and pin lock areas and rope will secure these areas. Top deck extended 16ft wide by 20ft long.

      @rustyswift1893 great minds. I'm doing a very similar concept. A little different but we think the same. I'm looking to get a couple nice electric bikes for shore trips. I won't have the kinda range you will with a motorbike but if the motor dies I can always peddle. We should make a club or something for people commiting blasphemy and repurposing old boats. I've already gutted the inside of what was a 1972 pearson 26. I've extended it to 30 and am soon to get to work on the rest. I'm going to have a sleeping cabin forward where the v berth was then a open cockpit until the very back where I will have a semi closed in pilot house. I've cut down the keel and that was a nightmare. Instead of lead the pearson had a cast iron keel. Not only hard to cut but worth absolutely nothing to scrap. I won't have any sails. This boat had a date with a junkyard before I saved it for repurpose so anything I do is improvement. It would never have been a sailboat again. The cost to restore would far exceed the value of a pearson 26.

    • @rustyswift1893

      @@adamtedder1012 I thought about electric motor its just the cost as I could power the jet drive with electric motor but how much $$ this how ever would remain a option as ive been watching TH-cam jet skis having turbos added or electric engines

    • @adamtedder1012
      @adamtedder1012 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @rustyswift1893 actually this boat will be electric motor. The thing is it won't be battery electric only. I'm going to direct power it with generators as well. I will use solar to charge batteries, too. The generators will top up the batteries and run the motor direct.

    • @rustyswift1893
      @rustyswift1893 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@adamtedder1012 i thought about that with the minn kota riptide this is normally a front mounted electric 24-36v motor with 100+lbs of thrust has a GPS system that lunks up to fishfinder so you have lots of features like GPS anchor or drift fishing you can set a path and trolling speeds. My Dads honda gen 2000 watt can run his riptide and charge his batteries which he has a charger in the boat gives status of all 3 batteries. However this is about $4000-$5000 without the generator. This is definitely in my boat build plans as I will buy the quick release plate and setup anchors accordingly

    Awesome, but don't you think a couple of soft pine 2x4's will snap like toothpicks when you hit some major waves? I wouldn't want to be impalled by the entire structure or worse decapitated. Maybe thick metal bolted or welded to think metal? Even that is subject to tremendous shear forces...
