Building Ferrari's all electric wooden boat. (Part 1)

  • Part-2 is now available: • Building Ferrari's all...
As an amateur hobbyist boat builder, I decided to replicate the Ferrari's designer Frank Stephenson's custom made Slipper launch electric boat.
I used designs from Dan Lee : @DanLeeBoatbuilding the plans are drawn by naval architect Michel Berryer which in my opinion way superior to Glen-L's blueprints. Modern boat building is evolving and being able to navigate a 3D modeled blueprint with optional CNC cut components is the future of the wooden boat building.
I apologize for the mistakes that you may have noticed. I didn't even held a hammer before 2020 :) and boat building is an unending learning process.
My friend Bob is also working on one of Dan's designs Temptress. You may follow him on@Polymerman
    Stay tuned for the part-2.
00:00 - CNC cutting mahogany pieces for frames
00:40 - CNC cutting the construction board
01:25 - Dry fitting the frames on construction board
02:10 - Epoxying the frame parts.
03:03 - How to clean a super dusty workshop
03:16 - Building the strong back (base to build the boat on)
04:05 - Planing (Thinning to size) the wood stock for stem (forward part of a boat).
    04:24 - Steam-bending the laminated stem pieces.
05:24 - Removing extras from the stem with CNC
05:44 - Cutting transom template from plywood
06:19 - Epoxying the transom in to template
    07:03 - Laminating the stringers
07:24 - Planing the stringer to size
07:41 - Placing stringers through frames
07:55 - Cutting notches on stringers to insert frames
08:55 - Fixing transom to stringers
09:55 - Shaping and beveling the stem
    10:55 - Building the keel
11:54 - Steam bending chine (discarded later )
    12:29 - Shaping the stem
13:29 - Setting up batten notches
    13:58 - Cutting batten notches
14:43 - Beveling keel and stem
    15:14 - Installing laminated chine
    15:56 - Installing battens
17:21 - Connecting sheer with transom
17:53 - Epoxying keel to frames
18:24 - Advanced keel fixation using angular momentum with potential energy derivered from the earths gravity.
    18:38 - End of part 1.

I was using my table saw exactly the same way you are here when the blade caught a knot in the wood and pulled it through really fast. I thought I was so fast and reacted quick enough to let go of the wood before it cut me. (four fingers cut almost off. I was lucky to keep them. ) It wasn't until I felt the blood shooting out of my hand that I realized I wasn't as quick as I thought. It only takes one time and it happens faster than you think. You are getting your hand way to close to that blade. Other than the closeness to the saw, I love the work you are doing. Great channel!

Thank you for your concern. That is my biggest fear as I’m in healthcare and my fingers are my life. Just for that reason I’ve bought a saw stop. It won’t help with kickback but I hope it will save my fingers in case of an accident.

To me this is very enjoyable work it’s not something you get up to daily and regret. It’s not really work if you love it. Crafting an entire vessel by hand like this is more of a relationship you are intimate with every surface.
